Overview
The Team Associated LP Progressive Springs Yellow AS32058 are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC car enthusiasts who demand fine-tuned handling and responsive shock control. These progressive-rate springs represent the gold standard in suspension tuning for competitive and recreational RC racing across the UK. Whether you're setting up a 1/10 scale buggy, truggy, or short course truck, these yellow-coded springs offer the versatility and performance needed to dial in your RC car's suspension perfectly for varying track conditions and driving styles.
Progressive-rate springs deliver a dual benefit that makes them invaluable for any dedicated RC modeller: they provide initial compliance over small bumps and obstacles, helping your RC car maintain traction and consistency across uneven terrain, whilst simultaneously offering increased support during aggressive cornering and weight transfer. This means you can run a setup that feels plush over technical sections yet maintains cornering support when you need it most. The AS32058 specification is a standard fitment part, making it compatible with a wide range of Team Associated vehicles and setups, and it's the kind of component that separates average handling from championship-level precision.
RC Model Shop stocks Team Associated suspension components as part of our commitment to providing UK RC enthusiasts with genuine, authorised parts and expert advice. These springs are essential for anyone serious about getting the most from their RC car UK setup.
Key Features
- Progressive Spring Rate (15.7–18.1 lb/in) — This dual-rate design starts soft at 15.7 lb/in to absorb small bumps and maintain traction, then progressively stiffens to 18.1 lb/in under load for increased cornering support and handling stability, giving you the best of both worlds in a single spring.
- Yellow Colour Coding — The yellow designation allows you to instantly identify this spring's rate within your spares collection and ensures you match the correct rate to your RC chassis setup, preventing suspension tuning mistakes.
- L17 Length Specification — This refers to the precise length of the spring, which is critical for correct shock fitment and suspension geometry; using the correct length ensures your shocks operate in their designed range and maintain proper ride height.
- 4.5T Compatibility — This specification indicates the spring is optimised for Team Associated 4.5-turn motor setups and vehicles, making fitment straightforward and ensuring compatibility with matched components across the range.
- Fine-Tuning Capability — Progressive springs allow you to dial in suspension balance with precision, adjusting traction, cornering speed, and bump compliance without needing complete shock rebuilds, saving time and money whilst improving performance.
- Varied Surface Performance — The progressive design excels on mixed terrain, providing consistent handling whether you're racing on carpet, asphalt, or outdoor tracks with varying surface conditions, making these springs ideal for UK club racers and bashers alike.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated LP Progressive Springs deliver engineering excellence through their carefully calculated rate progression. The 15.7–18.1 lb/in specification represents a moderate spring rate suitable for a wide range of RC vehicles and driving conditions. Progressive springs work by using a variable coil pitch or dual-rate design, meaning the spring's resistance to compression increases non-linearly as it's compressed further. This is fundamentally different from linear springs which maintain consistent resistance throughout their travel. In practical terms, when you hit a small bump, the spring initially compresses easily, keeping your RC car's tyres in contact with the ground for maximum traction. However, as suspension travel increases—such as during hard cornering or landing jumps—the spring rate increases, providing stiffer support and preventing excessive suspension bottoming. The yellow colour coding is part of Team Associated's standardised colour system, allowing modellers to quickly identify spring rates across different shock designs. The L17 length marking ensures fitment into standard Team Associated shock bodies, maintaining proper ride height and shock piston travel. These springs are manufactured to precision tolerances, and the consistent rate characteristics ensure predictable, repeatable suspension performance lap after lap, which is essential for competitive RC racing on tracks across the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a progressive spring and why is it better than a standard spring? — A progressive spring has a variable rate that starts soft and becomes stiffer as it compresses. This design gives you compliance for bump absorption and traction whilst providing support during hard cornering. Standard linear springs maintain the same stiffness throughout their travel, so you must compromise: either set them soft for traction and risk bottoming out, or set them stiff for support and lose traction. Progressive springs solve this problem by doing both jobs simultaneously.
- What vehicles are these springs compatible with? — The AS32058 is specified as a standard fitment part for Team Associated vehicles. The 4.5T specification and L17 length indicate compatibility with Team Associated 4.5-turn motor setups and associated chassis platforms. Check your vehicle's manual or contact RC Model Shop for specific compatibility information regarding your particular model.
- How do I know if these are the right springs for my RC car setup? — Spring selection depends on your RC car's class, track conditions, and driving style. The 15.7–18.1 lb/in rate is moderate and suitable for general racing and bashing. If you're experiencing excessive diving under braking, the car bottoms out regularly, or the suspension feels too soft, you may need stiffer springs. If the car feels harsh and loses traction, you may need softer springs. Progressive springs like these offer a good middle ground for versatile performance.
- Should I buy springs in pairs? — Yes, you should always install matching springs on both sides of your RC car to maintain balanced suspension geometry and handling. The AS32058 comes as one pair, which is the correct quantity for replacing both front or both rear shocks, or you can buy multiple pairs to cover all four corner positions.
- Are these suitable for beginners? — Yes, these springs are suitable for all skill levels. Progressive springs are actually beginner-friendly because they offer forgiving bump compliance whilst still providing support, which means you won't feel punished for imprecise driving. They're also used by professional racers, so they'll grow with your skills.
- What is the difference between yellow springs and other colours? — Team Associated uses colour coding to indicate spring rate. Yellow springs (15.7–18.1 lb/in) represent a moderate rate. Other colours indicate softer or stiffer rates. The colour system allows you to quickly identify the correct springs for your setup and maintain consistency across different shocks.
