Overview
The Traxxas Mini GTR Springs (1.36-Rate Black Stripe) represent premium suspension tuning components for RC enthusiasts who demand precision and performance. These replacement shock springs are engineered to give you complete control over your vehicle's suspension characteristics, whether you're fine-tuning a setup for competitive racing or adjusting your car to handle different track conditions and driving styles. As an essential spare part for Mini GTR-equipped vehicles, these springs are crucial for anyone serious about optimising their RC car UK performance and achieving the perfect balance between responsiveness and stability.
Crafted from high-quality spring steel with a natural finish, these springs embody Traxxas's commitment to durability and reliability. The 1.36-rate specification (indicated by the distinctive black stripe) makes these springs ideal for drivers who need a firmer suspension setup, providing enhanced support for heavier vehicle configurations or delivering increased stiffness for more aggressive driving styles. Whether you're competing at the local track, enjoying weekend bashing sessions, or exploring the capabilities of your Mini Rally VXL or Mini Slash BL-2S, having the correct spring rate ensures your RC vehicle responds precisely to your inputs and maintains optimal contact with the ground in all conditions.
These suspension upgrades are sold as a pair, meaning you receive two springs complete and ready to install. The versatility of different spring rates in the GTR range allows you to match your suspension setup to your specific vehicle weight, driving preferences, and track characteristics. For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to enhance their car's handling and performance, the Mini GTR Springs are an investment in precision tuning that will transform how your vehicle behaves on the track or terrain.
Key Features
- High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — These springs are manufactured from premium spring steel with a natural finish, ensuring they maintain their performance characteristics over extended use and resist premature fatigue or sagging that could compromise your suspension setup.
- 1.36-Rate Specification — The 1.36-rate classification indicates a stiffer spring profile suitable for heavier vehicle configurations, competitive driving styles, or setups requiring enhanced suspension support and faster weight transfer during cornering manoeuvres.
- Black Stripe Identification — The distinctive black stripe provides instant visual identification of the spring rate, preventing accidental installation of incorrect springs and ensuring you always have the right rate installed in your suspension assembly.
- Sold as Matched Pair — You receive two springs in this package, meaning you have the correct matched pair required for your front or rear suspension, eliminating the need to purchase multiple packages for a complete suspension refresh.
- Suspension Tuning Capability — By offering springs in multiple rates, Traxxas allows you to precisely tune your vehicle's suspension response, enabling compensation for weight changes, track condition variations, and personal driving preferences without replacing your entire shock assembly.
- Compatible with Multiple Mini Vehicles — These springs are designed to work with the Mini Rally VXL Ford RS200 and Mini Slash BL-2S 4X4 RC trucks, making them an essential spare part for owners of these popular ready-to-run RC vehicles.
- Easy Installation — As direct replacement springs for GTR shock assemblies, installation is straightforward and requires no special tools or modifications, allowing you to make suspension adjustments quickly between runs or events.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Mini GTR Springs represent the engineering excellence Traxxas brings to suspension tuning for 1/10 scale RC vehicles. Spring rate directly influences how your vehicle handles during acceleration, braking, cornering, and transitions between different terrain types. The 1.36-rate specification delivers a firmer suspension response compared to lighter rates, providing several performance benefits for the right driving situation. When paired with matching springs, these components create a balanced suspension that distributes weight evenly across both wheels during dynamic driving situations. The natural finish spring steel maintains consistent performance throughout its lifespan, resisting rust and corrosion when properly maintained. For drivers competing with brushless RC vehicles like the Mini Rally VXL or Mini Slash BL-2S 4X4, having the correct spring rate is as important as having the right tyres or gearing—it fundamentally affects how the vehicle translates your control inputs into actual track performance. The construction quality ensures these springs won't permanently deform under the demands of aggressive driving, maintaining their rate and performance characteristics across hundreds of hours of use. Whether you're adjusting for seasonal temperature changes that affect asphalt grip, compensating for a heavier battery pack, or simply preferring a stiffer suspension for your driving style, these springs provide the tuning flexibility that separates championship-winning setups from mediocre ones.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 1.36 spring rate mean and how does it compare to other rates? — Spring rate indicates the stiffness of the spring; higher numbers mean stiffer springs. The 1.36-rate is a mid-range stiffness suitable for heavier vehicle configurations or drivers who prefer firmer suspension response. Lower rates like 1.19 offer softer, more compliant suspension for lighter vehicles or smoother track surfaces, whilst higher rates provide even more support. You'll choose your rate based on your vehicle weight, driving style, and track conditions.
- What vehicles are these Mini GTR Springs compatible with? — These springs are specifically designed for Traxxas Mini GTR shock systems and are compatible with the Traxxas Mini Rally VXL Ford RS200 (including grey and red variants) and the Traxxas Mini Slash BL-2S 4X4 RTR Short Course Truck (available in orange, yellow, green, and pink colours). Check your vehicle's shock assembly to confirm it uses GTR shocks before ordering.
- How often should I replace my RC suspension springs? — Springs don't wear out in the traditional sense but can lose their rate over time with heavy use or if they become permanently deformed. Most drivers replace springs when upgrading suspension tuning or if springs show visible damage or deformation. With proper maintenance and storage, quality springs like these should provide thousands of hours of reliable service.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my RC vehicle? — Technically you could run different rates front and rear, but this is not recommended for beginners as it creates unpredictable handling characteristics. Always match your springs—use the same rate front and rear unless you have advanced tuning experience and understand how to compensate with other suspension settings.
- Why would I need different spring rates for my RC car? — Different rates allow you to tune your vehicle for specific conditions: stiffer springs for heavier loads or aggressive driving, softer springs for smoother ride quality or lighter vehicles. As your driving improves or your vehicle setup changes, having multiple spring rates available lets you optimise performance without buying a completely new shock system.
- How do I install Mini GTR Springs? — GTR springs install directly into your GTR shock bodies. Generally, you'll disassemble your shock (consult your vehicle's manual for specific procedures), remove the old springs, and install the new ones in the same orientation, then reassemble. The process typically takes just a few minutes once you're familiar with your shock assembly.
- Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, these are genuine Traxxas OEM parts manufactured to the company's specifications. Purchasing from an authorised UK retailer ensures you receive authentic parts with full compatibility and quality assurance.
