Steering blocks are a critical component of any RC car's front-end geometry, controlling the steering travel and suspension articulation of your vehicle. By upgrading to aluminium steering blocks from the factory plastic alternatives, you are investing in longevity and reliability. The orange-anodised finish provides not only visual appeal with its brilliant two-tone styling and TRX logo, but also offers enhanced corrosion resistance, ensuring your RC car maintains its appearance and functionality over extended periods of use. These blocks are compatible with multiple Traxxas platforms, including the Slash, Stampede, Rustler, and other 2WD models, making them an excellent choice for RC enthusiasts with various vehicles in their collection.
The steering blocks have been carefully machined from a solid block of aluminium to preserve critical steering and suspension geometry. This precision engineering ensures that your RC car maintains its intended handling characteristics while benefiting from the superior durability that metal components provide. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking to strengthen their vehicles and add that professional, high-tech appearance to their machines, these orange-anodised aluminium steering blocks are an outstanding investment.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas Steering blocks represent a significant upgrade path for RC car owners in the UK seeking enhanced durability and reliability. Manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminium, these components provide superior impact resistance and longevity compared to standard plastic steering blocks. The material selection is critical: 6061-T6 is an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy renowned for its excellent machinability, corrosion resistance, and strength characteristics. When precision machined from a solid billet, these blocks maintain the exact steering geometry and suspension travel angles required for optimal vehicle handling. The orange-anodised finish not only delivers an attractive visual upgrade with a brilliant two-tone appearance featuring the TRX logo, but also provides a hard, corrosion-resistant oxide layer that protects the aluminium underneath from oxidation and environmental damage. The inclusion of ball-centre screws with threadlock ensures that once installed, the steering blocks remain secure during aggressive driving, preventing vibration-related loosening that could compromise steering response. For RC enthusiasts running their vehicles in wet conditions, muddy tracks, or saltwater environments common in UK RC racing, the anodised finish provides superior protection compared to bare aluminium or plastic alternatives. These steering blocks work in conjunction with other front-end suspension components and are particularly effective when paired with aluminium caster blocks and heavy-duty suspension arms for a complete durability upgrade package.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Traxxas models are compatible with these orange-anodised aluminium steering blocks? — These steering blocks fit all 2WD Traxxas models including the Slash, Stampede, and Rustler platforms. If you own a Bandit or Drag Slash, you will need to upgrade to the optional Heavy Duty front arms first, as the stock arms on these models lack the clearance required for full suspension and steering travel with aluminium blocks. The Heavy Duty arms are well under £15 and are available in multiple colours including black, red, orange, green, and blue.
- What is the material difference between plastic and aluminium steering blocks? — Plastic steering blocks are prone to cracking and breaking under impact stress, particularly during aggressive bashing or competition use. The 6061-T6 aluminium blocks in this set are significantly more durable, offering superior impact resistance and longevity. Aluminium also provides better thermal properties and maintains dimensional stability better than plastic, ensuring your steering geometry remains precise over extended use periods.
- What is included with these steering blocks? — This set includes both left and right steering blocks, along with all necessary hardware: 3x8mm ball-centre screws with threadlock (quantity 2) and 4x35mm ball-centre screws with threadlock (quantity 2). The threadlock compound helps prevent vibration-related loosening during driving.
- Can I install these on my Bandit or Drag Slash RC car? — Stock Bandit and Drag Slash models cannot accommodate these aluminium steering blocks due to clearance limitations with the original front arms. However, upgrading to Traxxas Heavy Duty front arms will provide the necessary clearance for both the steering blocks and other suspension upgrades. Once the Heavy Duty arms are installed, you can run these steering blocks alongside aluminium caster blocks, big bore shocks, and heavy-duty turnbuckle camber and toe links for a complete front-end durability upgrade.
- Will the orange-anodised finish scratch easily? — The anodised finish is a hard, protective oxide layer bonded to the aluminium surface. While normal driving wear may eventually show light marks, the anodised coating provides excellent corrosion resistance and protects the aluminium from oxidation. The anodised finish is designed to withstand the rigours of RC car bashing and racing, and minor cosmetic marks do not affect performance or durability.
- Do I need any other parts to install these steering blocks? — Installation is straightforward: you simply disassemble your existing plastic steering blocks and reassemble using these new aluminium blocks with the included hardware. If you are installing these on a Bandit or Drag Slash, you will first need the Heavy Duty front arms. No special tools are required beyond standard hobby tools for RC car assembly and disassembly.
- What is the difference between these steering blocks and caster blocks? — Steering blocks (also called steering knuckles or C-hubs in some platforms) control the vehicle's steering input and suspension geometry at the front wheels. Caster blocks, sometimes called C-hubs on certain models, are a related component that works with the steering blocks. These particular steering blocks are designed specifically for steering control, while caster blocks are available separately as an additional upgrade option.
