Spektrum's reputation for quality and innovation means you can trust this motor to perform reliably, season after season.
Key Features
- 2500Kv Rating — The 2500Kv specification determines the motor's rotational speed per volt of input, making this motor perfectly suited for medium to high-speed marine applications where you need responsive acceleration and strong mid-range performance without excessive current draw.
- Brushless Technology — Unlike traditional brushed motors, this brushless outrunner design eliminates commutator wear, reduces maintenance requirements, and delivers superior efficiency, meaning more of your battery's energy converts directly into thrust rather than being wasted as heat.
- Outrunner Configuration — The outrunner design features a rotating external bell, which is ideal for direct coupling to propellers without requiring gearboxes, simplifying installation and reducing mechanical losses in your RC boat's drivetrain.
- 3.175mm Shaft Diameter — This standard shaft size ensures seamless compatibility with a wide range of marine motor mounts, couplings, and propeller adapters commonly used in RC boating, making it easy to integrate into your existing setup or new builds.
- 14-Pole Motor Design — The 14-pole configuration provides smooth, consistent power delivery with minimal cogging, ensuring refined acceleration curves and excellent throttle response during high-speed manoeuvres.
- Spektrum Quality Assurance — Manufactured by Spektrum, an authorised dealer's trusted brand, this motor comes with the engineering rigour and quality control that ensures long-term reliability in demanding aquatic conditions.
Technical Performance
The SPM 3542 2500Kv Outrunner Marine Motor delivers robust performance characteristics tailored specifically for RC marine applications. With a 2500Kv rating, this brushless motor operates efficiently across a broad power band, making it suitable for various marine vessel types and configurations. The 14-pole design ensures minimal torque ripple and vibration, which translates to smoother operation and reduced strain on hull structures during extended running sessions. The outrunner configuration is particularly advantageous for marine propulsion because it allows direct coupling to standard RC boat propellers, eliminating the need for additional gearing and the associated mechanical losses. The 3.175mm shaft diameter is a standard size in the RC boating community, ensuring you can source compatible couplings, adapellers, and mounts from multiple manufacturers, giving you flexibility in your boat's mechanical design. The brushless technology provides exceptional energy efficiency, meaning you'll extract maximum runtime from your LiPo batteries and enjoy reduced heat generation during operation. The motor's construction employs quality materials and precision engineering to withstand the corrosive marine environment, though we always recommend fresh-water rinsing after saltwater use. When paired with an appropriate Spektrum marine ESC such as the Firma 30A or 50A units, and matched to suitable 2S or 3S LiPo batteries, this motor creates a reliable, high-performance propulsion system for RC speedboats, catamarans, and other aquatic models.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the ideal battery configuration for the Spektrum 2500Kv marine motor? — The 2500Kv rating is optimised for 2S and 3S LiPo battery packs, with 3S providing higher speeds and 2S offering more conservative power delivery and extended runtime, depending on your boat's design and your performance preferences.
- Is this motor suitable for salt water RC boating? — Yes, the Spektrum Firma marine motor is engineered for both freshwater and saltwater environments, though we recommend thoroughly rinsing the motor and all electronics with fresh water after each saltwater session to prevent corrosion and maintain long-term reliability.
- What ESC should I pair with this 2500Kv motor? — Spektrum offers dedicated marine ESCs designed to work seamlessly with this motor range, including the Firma 30A and Firma 50A Marine ESC units, both of which are optimised for 2S-3S battery configurations and provide the current handling and marine-grade protection your boat requires.
- What is the difference between this 2500Kv motor and other Spektrum marine motors? — Spektrum produces marine motors with varying KV ratings to suit different vessel types and speed preferences; the 2500Kv sits in the medium to high-speed category, offering a balance between acceleration, top speed, and runtime that works well for most RC speedboat and catamaran applications, whilst lower KV motors provide more torque for slower, heavier vessels.
- Can I use this motor in a saltwater environment? — Absolutely; this Spektrum marine motor is specifically designed to handle saltwater conditions, though proper maintenance including fresh-water rinses and occasional inspection of electrical connections will extend its operational lifespan significantly.
- Is the 3.175mm shaft diameter a standard size? — Yes, the 3.175mm shaft is a widely-used standard in RC marine applications, making it straightforward to source compatible motor couplings, shaft adapters, and propeller hubs from multiple manufacturers both in the UK and internationally.
