Key Features
- T-FHSS Air Receiver — The R3008SB operates on Futaba's proven T-FHSS (Time-Division Full-Hop Spread Spectrum) protocol, which is specifically designed for air applications and provides exceptional range, interference resistance, and reliability in the challenging RF environment that air models experience during flight.
- 8 PWM Channels — With eight dedicated PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) output channels, you have straightforward compatibility with traditional servo controllers and electronic speed controllers, ensuring seamless integration with your existing RC aircraft systems without requiring additional adapters or conversion equipment.
- 18-Channel S.BUS Capability — Beyond its eight PWM channels, the R3008SB supports up to 18 channels via S.BUS protocol, allowing you to expand your control possibilities significantly for complex aircraft with multiple systems including flaps, landing gear, camera gimbals, and advanced flight control surfaces.
- Dual Antenna Diversity — The built-in dual antenna system with diversity reception ensures consistent signal lock throughout your flight envelope, eliminating dropouts and maintaining rock-solid control authority even in areas with RF reflections or challenging terrain that might otherwise cause signal loss.
- High Voltage Operation — Supporting input voltages from 4.8V through to 7.4V, the R3008SB accommodates standard four-cell NiMH packs, 2S LiPo batteries, and higher-voltage configurations, giving you flexibility in power system selection whilst maintaining consistent performance across different battery chemistries.
- Compact Form Factor — Measuring just 47.3×24.9×14.3mm and weighing a mere 10.1 grams, the R3008SB is engineered for installation in tight spaces typical of modern RC aircraft, where every millimetre and every gram counts toward achieving optimal flight characteristics and weight distribution.
- S.BUS2 Support — In addition to standard S.BUS protocol, this receiver supports S.BUS2, enabling advanced telemetry feedback and sensor integration for modellers who want real-time flight data, voltage monitoring, and detailed system diagnostics during flight operations.
Technical Performance
The Futaba R3008SB represents a masterclass in compact receiver engineering, delivering professional-grade performance in a package so small and light that it becomes virtually invisible in your RC aircraft build. The T-FHSS air protocol is specifically engineered for the unique demands of aerial radio control, providing superior performance compared to surface-oriented protocols, with optimised transmission characteristics for the elevation angles and range requirements typical of RC flying. The receiver's dual antenna diversity system actively switches between two antenna elements to maintain optimal signal strength, a critical feature when flying at altitude or in areas with RF reflections from buildings, trees, or terrain features. Built with high-quality components throughout, the R3008SB demonstrates Futaba's uncompromising approach to reliability, with materials and construction methods that have proven themselves across thousands of flight hours in the hands of demanding RC pilots worldwide. The support for multiple command protocols—PWM, S.BUS, and S.BUS2—means this receiver can serve as a long-term investment in your RC air operations, remaining compatible with your equipment today whilst offering upgrade paths to more sophisticated digital servo systems and telemetry solutions in the future. Operating reliably across the full 4.8V to 7.4V input range ensures consistent performance whether you're flying early morning sessions when battery voltage is fresh or later in the day with partially depleted cells.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Futaba R3008SB suitable for my fixed-wing RC aircraft? — Absolutely. The R3008SB is specifically designed as an air receiver, making it ideal for fixed-wing aircraft including scale models, trainers, aerobatic aircraft, and flying wings. Its compact size and light weight are perfectly suited to aircraft applications where installers are working within tight fuselage constraints and weight budgets.
- Can I use this receiver with my existing servos and speed controller? — Yes, the eight PWM output channels provide direct compatibility with traditional servo controllers and electronic speed controllers that accept PWM signals. You can install the R3008SB into your existing aircraft without any additional conversion equipment, though you may choose to upgrade to S.BUS servos in the future for enhanced capabilities.
- What battery voltage does the R3008SB require? — The receiver operates across a wide input voltage range from 4.8V to 7.4V, which means it's compatible with standard four-cell NiMH battery packs (nominally 4.8V) and 2S LiPo batteries (nominally 7.4V nominal, up to 8.4V when fully charged). This flexibility allows you to choose the battery chemistry that best suits your aircraft and operating preferences.
- What is the difference between PWM and S.BUS control? — PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) is a traditional servo control protocol where each channel requires a dedicated wire connection, whilst S.BUS is a digital protocol that transmits all channel data across a single wire, reducing wiring complexity and enabling advanced features like telemetry feedback and sensor integration. The R3008SB supports both, allowing you to use traditional PWM servos now and upgrade to digital S.BUS servos later.
- Why does this receiver have dual antennas? — The dual antenna diversity system actively monitors signal strength from both antennas and automatically switches to whichever antenna is receiving the strongest signal, ensuring consistent control throughout your flight without dropouts or glitches. This is particularly valuable during manoeuvres that might otherwise block one antenna or cause signal reflections.
- Is this receiver suitable for beginners in RC flying? — The R3008SB is a professional-grade receiver designed primarily for experienced modellers who understand RC aircraft systems and installation procedures. Beginners would typically start with ready-to-fly aircraft that include pre-installed receivers, though as skills develop, the R3008SB becomes an excellent choice for building more sophisticated or custom aircraft.
- What does T-FHSS mean and why should I care? — T-FHSS (Time-Division Full-Hop Spread Spectrum) is Futaba's proprietary air-specific radio protocol that has been battle-tested in the RC flying community for over a decade. Unlike surface protocols, T-FHSS is optimised for the flight envelope of aircraft, providing superior range, interference resistance, and reliability at altitude. If you're serious about RC flying, T-FHSS represents the gold standard in receiver technology.
- Can I expand to 18 channels from the standard 8? — The R3008SB supports up to 18 channels via S.BUS protocol, though you'll need to use S.BUS servos and compatible transmitter software to access these additional channels. With eight PWM channels and 18 S.BUS channels available, you have substantial capacity for complex aircraft with multiple systems.
