Overview

The Traxxas Rod ends, standard (4) (assembled with hollow balls) (fits #9547/9548 series aluminium camber links & #9549 series aluminium toe links) TRX9647 are essential replacement and upgrade components for serious RC enthusiasts maintaining or tuning their Traxxas models. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your setup or a weekend basher looking to keep your RC car UK collection in peak condition, these genuine Traxxas rod ends deliver the precision and durability that separates quality RC performance from mediocre results.

Rod ends are critical steering linkage components that connect your RC car's servo-actuated steering system to the wheels, translating precise control inputs into accurate directional changes. The standard rod ends in this four-piece set come pre-assembled with hollow ball joints, eliminating the need for complex assembly and ensuring consistent performance straight out of the box. These components are purpose-engineered to work seamlessly with Traxxas's aluminium camber and toe link systems, providing the exact geometry and fit tolerances required for optimal handling characteristics.

If you own or operate a brushless RC vehicle, a nitro-powered RC car, or any of Traxxas's high-performance models featuring the 9547, 9548, or 9549 series aluminium linkage systems, having genuine replacement rod ends on hand is simply smart maintenance. Even professional-grade ready to run RC models experience normal wear and tear on steering components during intense driving sessions, and keeping spare rod ends means you'll never be sidelined by a worn steering joint.

Key Features

  • Four Pre-Assembled Standard Rod Ends — This set contains four ready-to-install rod ends that come completely assembled with hollow ball joints, eliminating tedious assembly work and ensuring you can get back to driving quickly without requiring additional tools or expertise.
  • Hollow Ball Joint Design — The hollow ball joints provide smooth articulation and precise steering response while being lightweight, which is critical for maintaining responsive handling and reducing unsprung mass that can affect suspension performance.
  • Genuine Traxxas Engineering — Manufactured to exact Traxxas specifications, these rod ends ensure perfect compatibility and performance with your existing steering system, with tolerances and materials engineered for durability and consistency across multiple driving sessions.
  • Direct Compatibility with Aluminium Camber Links — These rod ends are specifically designed to fit Traxxas #9547 and #9548 series aluminium camber links, ensuring proper geometry and preventing fitment issues that could compromise steering accuracy.
  • Compatibility with Aluminium Toe Links — The set also works seamlessly with Traxxas #9549 series aluminium toe links, allowing you to maintain consistent steering geometry across your entire RC car's linkage system.
  • Replacement and Upgrade Component — Whether you're replacing worn components that have degraded after extensive use or upgrading from older plastic linkage systems, these rod ends integrate perfectly into Traxxas's premium aluminium steering architecture for improved durability and precision.
  • Maintenance Essential for RC Enthusiasts — For anyone serious about maintaining their RC car UK collection in competitive condition, having genuine replacement rod ends available prevents downtime and ensures your steering system continues to perform at peak efficiency.

Technical Performance

Rod ends are fundamental steering geometry components that require precision engineering to deliver the responsive, accurate control that separates average RC cars from competition-grade vehicles. The Traxxas standard rod ends in this four-piece set are constructed with hollow ball joints that provide smooth, friction-free articulation across the full range of steering motion. The hollow ball design reduces weight compared to solid alternatives, which directly benefits handling responsiveness and reduces the rotational mass that the servo must overcome during rapid steering inputs. The rod ends are pre-assembled and ready to install, meaning the ball joints are already properly seated and tensioned to Traxxas's exacting standards, ensuring consistent performance without the potential assembly errors that can occur when users attempt to install loose components. These rod ends are specifically engineered for use with Traxxas's aluminium camber and toe link systems, which are themselves high-quality components designed for precision and durability. The aluminium linkage architecture in modern Traxxas models represents a significant engineering advance over older plastic steering systems, offering improved rigidity and dimensional stability that translates directly into more precise steering feel and better handling consistency over extended driving sessions. The material selection and manufacturing tolerances ensure that these rod ends will perform reliably across a wide range of driving conditions, from smooth track surfaces to rough terrain courses, and from gentle cruising to aggressive competitive racing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Traxxas models use these TRX9647 rod ends? — These rod ends are specifically designed for Traxxas models equipped with #9547 or #9548 series aluminium camber links and #9549 series aluminium toe links. The rod ends connect your servo steering system to the wheels through these linkage components, making them essential for any Traxxas model using this steering architecture.
  • What does the hollow ball joint design do and why does it matter? — The hollow ball joints provide lightweight, smooth articulation for steering response while reducing unsprung mass in the steering system. This design improves the responsiveness of your steering inputs and allows the servo to move the wheels more efficiently, which is particularly important in competitive racing or aggressive driving scenarios.
  • Are these rod ends pre-assembled and ready to install? — Yes, these rod ends come completely pre-assembled with the hollow ball joints already seated and properly tensioned to Traxxas's specifications. This means you can install them directly without additional assembly steps, saving time and eliminating potential fitment issues that could arise from improper assembly.
  • How often should I replace my rod ends? — Rod ends experience wear during normal operation, especially if you drive frequently or aggressively. Signs of wear include loose steering feel, excessive play in the steering system, or visible wear in the ball joint. Having replacement rod ends on hand ensures you can maintain optimal steering performance and prevents downtime when components wear out.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, the TRX9647 is an official Traxxas part number, ensuring you receive components manufactured to exact Traxxas specifications and engineering standards. Using genuine parts guarantees proper fit, performance, and durability in your RC vehicle.
  • Can I use these with plastic linkage systems? — No, these rod ends are specifically engineered for use with Traxxas's #9547, #9548, and #9549 series aluminium linkage components. They will not fit older plastic linkage systems and should only be used with the compatible aluminium linkage systems they are designed for.
