Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (Red) (2.8 rate, White stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8366 is an essential suspension upgrade component for RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune their vehicle's handling characteristics. These replacement shock springs are engineered by Traxxas, one of the world's leading manufacturers of ready to run RC cars and trucks, to deliver precision performance on track and off-road. Whether you're upgrading your RC car UK collection or optimising an existing model for competitive racing, these springs provide the exact suspension tuning you need to achieve your desired ride height and cornering response.

Designed specifically for 1/10 scale RC vehicles, these shock springs feature a 2.8 rate specification with distinctive white stripe identification, making them easily recognisable during maintenance and setup. The bright red colour not only looks professional on your RC buggy or truck but also aids in quick visual identification when managing multiple suspension components. With two springs included in each pack, you'll have a complete replacement set for both front and rear shocks, or the flexibility to experiment with different spring rates on individual corners of your vehicle for advanced suspension tuning.

RC suspension setup is one of the most critical factors in achieving competitive lap times and smooth handling characteristics. The spring rate directly influences how quickly your RC car responds to track irregularities, how much body roll you experience in corners, and ultimately how fast you can push your machine. These Traxxas springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances and tested extensively to ensure consistency across every unit, giving you the reliability and performance you expect from an authorised Traxxas dealer in the UK.

Key Features

  • 2.8 Rate Specification — The 2.8 spring rate is a popular choice for general-purpose RC racing and bashing, offering a balanced compromise between stability and responsiveness that works well across a variety of track surfaces and driving styles. This rate provides enough stiffness to control body roll during aggressive cornering whilst remaining compliant enough to absorb bumps and maintain traction on uneven terrain.
  • Red Colour with White Stripe Identification — The bright red finish combined with white stripe markings makes these springs instantly identifiable in your spares box and during vehicle setup, allowing you to quickly confirm you're using the correct spring rate without needing to consult documentation or packaging. This visual coding system is standard across the Traxxas range and helps prevent accidental mismatches during maintenance.
  • Pack of Two Springs — Each order includes a matched pair of springs, giving you a complete front or rear suspension upgrade or allowing you to run different rates on opposite ends of your vehicle for fine-tuned handling balance. This quantity is ideal for complete suspension refreshes or mid-season maintenance on your RC car.
  • Traxxas Engineering Quality — Manufactured by Traxxas, these springs benefit from decades of RC vehicle development and racing expertise. Every spring is inspected to ensure it meets the precise specifications required for reliable performance, with consistent rate characteristics that won't vary significantly from spring to spring.
  • Universal Compatibility Across Multiple Models — These springs are compatible with various Traxxas 1/10 scale vehicles including the 4TEC 3.0 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in both silver and black variants, making them a versatile choice if you run multiple RC cars in your collection. The compatibility extends to many other compatible chassis where standard Traxxas shock mounting is used.
  • Easy Installation — As a direct replacement part, these springs install quickly into existing shock towers without requiring any modification or additional components. Simply remove your old springs and slot the new ones into place, making them perfect for quick maintenance during race days or between sessions.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas Spring, shock (Red) (2.8 rate, White stripe) delivers precision suspension tuning for 1/10 scale RC vehicles. The 2.8 spring rate falls into the mid-range specification, making it suitable for general racing, club events, and recreational bashing where you need a balanced setup that doesn't require specialist knowledge to dial in. Spring rate is measured in pounds per inch (lbs/in) or newtons per millimetre, and the 2.8 rate means the spring requires 2.8 units of force to compress it by one unit of distance. This is a proven specification used by Traxxas engineers across their range of competition vehicles, ensuring you're working with known quantities that will perform predictably. The red colour with white stripe identification follows Traxxas's colour-coding system, which aids rapid identification during pit setup and helps prevent installation errors. These springs work in conjunction with your vehicle's shock absorber bodies and damping fluid to create a complete suspension system that controls both spring oscillation and bump absorption. The quality of manufacturing ensures consistent spring rates across both units in the pack, which is essential for maintaining balanced handling characteristics left to right on your RC buggy or truck. Compatible with Traxxas 1/10 scale models including the 4TEC 3.0 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray available in silver and black, these springs represent genuine OEM components that maintain the integrity of your Traxxas vehicle's suspension design.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is spring rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — Spring rate determines how much resistance the spring provides when compressed, measured in pounds per inch (lbs/in). A higher spring rate means a stiffer spring that resists compression more strongly, whilst a lower rate is softer and compresses more easily. The 2.8 rate in these springs is considered mid-range and works well for general-purpose RC racing, providing a balance between keeping your chassis stable during cornering and maintaining enough compliance to absorb track bumps. Stiffer springs reduce body roll but can make the car feel twitchy on rough surfaces, whilst softer springs improve traction on bumpy terrain but allow more body roll in corners. Choosing the right spring rate for your driving style and track conditions is one of the most important suspension tuning adjustments you can make.
  • Which RC cars and trucks are these springs compatible with? — These Traxxas springs are confirmed compatible with the Traxxas 4TEC 3.0 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in both silver (TRX93054-4-SLVR) and black (TRX93054-4-BLK) variants. They are designed for 1/10 scale vehicles that use standard Traxxas shock mounting systems. If you own a different Traxxas model, we recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
  • Do I need to replace both springs at once? — Whilst it's not strictly necessary, it's considered good practice to replace springs in matched pairs, especially if both are of similar age and usage. Springs can lose their rate characteristics over time due to metal fatigue and UV exposure, so having a matched pair ensures consistent handling left to right on your vehicle. The pack of two springs included here makes it easy to refresh either the front or rear suspension completely, or to use them as individual replacements if only one spring has failed.
  • How do I know which spring rate is right for my driving style? — The 2.8 rate is an excellent starting point for most RC racing applications and recreational bashing. If you find your vehicle is rolling too much in corners and feels unstable, you may benefit from trying a stiffer spring (higher rate number). Conversely, if the car feels bouncy over bumps and struggles to maintain traction, a softer spring (lower rate number) might help. Many racers keep multiple spring rates on hand to experiment with different setups for various track conditions. Our team at RC Model Shop can offer guidance based on your specific vehicle and driving preferences.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, the Traxxas Spring, shock (Red) (2.8 rate, White stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8366 is a genuine Traxxas OEM component. RC Model Shop is an authorised Traxxas dealer in the UK, and we stock only authentic parts backed by Traxxas engineering and quality standards. Every part carries the official Traxxas part number TRX8366 and EAN code 0020334836601.
  • How often should I replace my shock springs? — Under normal recreational use, shock springs can last for many months or even years before requiring replacement. However, springs that are continuously exposed to UV light, extreme temperatures, or heavy use may lose their rate characteristics faster. Signs that replacement may be needed include inconsistent handling characteristics, the vehicle sitting lower than before even with fresh oil in the shocks, or visible damage to the spring itself. Many competitive racers replace springs as part of regular seasonal maintenance to ensure they're always working with components at their peak performance.
