Overview
The Traxxas Shock shaft, 92mm (GTX) (TiN-coated) (2) (assembled with rod ends & hollow balls) TRX7863T is a premium suspension component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the best performance from their high-end RC vehicles. Whether you're running a competition-grade RC buggy, RC truck, or any other high-performance RC car in the UK, these shock shafts represent the pinnacle of Traxxas engineering and durability. This is not a complete shock assembly, but rather a precision-engineered replacement shaft component for the GTX shock system, making it an essential upgrade or maintenance item for drivers who refuse to compromise on suspension quality.
Built with titanium-nitride (TiN) coating technology, these 92mm medium-length shock shafts deliver superior performance characteristics that set them apart from standard alternatives. The TiN coating resists scuffing, increases overall durability significantly, and most importantly, eliminates the frustrating "stiction" (static friction) that can plague uncoated shock shafts. Stiction is a common enemy for RC racers and serious bashers alike, as it reduces the responsiveness of the suspension and can make your RC vehicle feel sluggish and unpredictable on the track or trail. By eliminating this issue, these Traxxas shafts ensure your suspension responds instantly to terrain changes, delivering consistent handling lap after lap.
Available as a pair with everything you need to install them immediately, these shock shafts come fully assembled with rod ends and hollow balls already fitted, saving you valuable setup time. Whether you're maintaining your existing RC vehicle, upgrading a worn suspension system, or building a complete high-performance setup for your RC hobby in the UK, the Traxxas Shock shaft TRX7863T is a recognised choice among competitive drivers and dedicated RC enthusiasts.
Key Features
- 92mm Medium-Length Design — The 92mm length provides the perfect balance between shock travel and overall vehicle geometry, making these shafts compatible with several high-end Traxxas models and delivering optimal suspension performance across a wide range of driving conditions and track layouts.
- Titanium-Nitride (TiN) Coating — This advanced coating technology creates a hard, slippery surface that resists scuffing and damage from impact and friction, whilst also reducing the coefficient of friction compared to bare metal, resulting in smoother shock operation over longer periods.
- Eliminates Stiction — The TiN coating significantly reduces static friction (stiction) that can develop in uncoated shock shafts, ensuring your suspension delivers immediate, responsive feedback rather than feeling sluggish or delayed, which is critical for maintaining consistent lap times and handling performance.
- Pre-Assembled with Rod Ends and Hollow Balls — Rather than requiring complex assembly, these shafts arrive ready to install with rod ends and hollow balls already attached and secured, saving you installation time and ensuring proper assembly from the factory.
- Premium Traxxas Quality — As an official Traxxas component, these shafts are manufactured to exacting standards using precision engineering, ensuring perfect tolerances and compatibility with GTX shock systems across the Traxxas range.
- Pair Included — You receive two shock shafts in this package, providing the complete set needed to service both front and rear shocks on typical RC vehicles, or to have backup components available.
Technical Performance
These Traxxas shock shafts represent the culmination of decades of RC suspension engineering expertise. The 92mm length is specifically engineered for the GTX shock platform, which is Traxxas's most advanced shock system designed for high-speed running and aggressive driving. The titanium-nitride coating applied to these shafts is a professional-grade surface treatment that dramatically improves durability and performance characteristics. Unlike bare steel shafts that can develop microscopic scoring and corrosion over time, TiN-coated shafts maintain their smooth surface finish through hundreds of hours of operation, ensuring consistent damping characteristics throughout the life of the component. The coating also provides superior corrosion resistance, making these shafts ideal for drivers who run in wet or challenging UK conditions. The pre-assembled configuration with rod ends and hollow balls means these components are ready for immediate installation, with each part precisely engineered to GTX specifications. The hollow ball design reduces unsprung weight at the suspension corners, which improves handling response and reduces shock-induced vibrations that can affect overall vehicle composure and stability. These shafts are designed for use on high-performance Traxxas RC vehicles including the XRT VXL-8S, XRT Ultimate, and Funco Motorsports Pro Scale models, demonstrating their suitability for both extreme bashing and serious competition use.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is TiN coating and why does it matter for RC shock shafts? — Titanium-nitride (TiN) is a hard ceramic coating applied to the shock shaft surface that provides multiple benefits: it resists scuffing and wear from normal operation, it eliminates stiction (static friction) that can make your suspension feel sluggish, and it improves durability by protecting the underlying steel from corrosion and damage. For serious RC drivers, especially those running in the UK where moisture is common, TiN coating is the professional choice for reliable, consistent suspension performance.
- What does "stiction" mean and why should I care about it? — Stiction is static friction, a phenomenon where uncoated metal shafts develop a sticky resistance to initial movement due to microscopic surface imperfections and corrosion. This causes your shock to feel unresponsive when it first begins to compress or extend, affecting handling predictability. TiN coating eliminates this issue by creating an extremely smooth, slippery surface, so your suspension responds instantly and consistently.
- Are these shafts compatible with my RC vehicle? — These 92mm GTX shock shafts are specifically designed for Traxxas models that use the GTX shock system, including the XRT VXL-8S, XRT Ultimate, and Funco Motorsports Pro Scale 8S 2WD Electric Sand Car. If you own any of these models, these shafts are a direct, perfect fit. Consult your vehicle manual or contact RC Model Shop if you're unsure about compatibility.
- Do these come fully assembled and ready to install? — Yes, these shock shafts are completely pre-assembled with rod ends and hollow balls already attached, so you can install them directly into your shock bodies without requiring any additional assembly or adjustment steps, saving you time and ensuring factory-correct installation.
- How long do these shock shafts typically last? — With proper maintenance and care, TiN-coated shock shafts last significantly longer than uncoated alternatives thanks to the protective coating that resists wear and corrosion. However, like all shock components, they will eventually wear and may need replacement after hundreds of hours of aggressive use, especially if run in wet or sandy conditions common across the UK.
- What is the difference between these 92mm shafts and other lengths available? — The 92mm length is classified as medium-length and is optimised for the GTX shock platform used in several Traxxas vehicles. Shorter shafts would reduce shock travel and compliance, whilst longer shafts might cause geometry and handling issues. The 92mm length provides the perfect balance for the vehicles it's designed for.
