Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (nickel finish) (GTR) (2.925 rate, Blue) (1 pair) TRX7245A is an essential suspension tuning component for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand precision performance from their 1/16 scale GTR models. These high-quality shock springs are engineered to fine-tune your vehicle's suspension characteristics, allowing you to optimise handling, ride height and overall stability across different track conditions and driving styles. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to dial in the perfect setup or a weekend basher seeking improved performance, quality replacement springs are fundamental to achieving the handling balance your RC car deserves.

Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to improve your RC car's performance, and spring rate selection is crucial to this process. The 2.925 rate specification on these springs makes them suitable for specific vehicle configurations and weight distributions, allowing you to compensate for lighter or heavier setups with precision. By choosing the correct spring rate, you can significantly enhance your RC car's cornering grip, maintain consistent ride height, and improve overall drivability on both smooth and rough surfaces. For any serious RC car UK enthusiast, having a selection of different spring rates in your spares box is an investment in better performance.

These Traxxas GTR shock springs represent genuine manufacturer components backed by Traxxas engineering, ensuring you receive springs that meet exact specifications and deliver the durability you expect from quality RC suspension parts. Whether you're refreshing tired springs after extended use or experimenting with suspension setups to find your optimal tuning combination, these springs provide the reliability and performance consistency that competitive RC drivers depend on.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — These springs are manufactured from premium spring steel, providing the durability and consistent performance characteristics needed for reliable suspension tuning across multiple driving sessions and different environmental conditions.
  • Durable Nickel Finish — The nickel plating protects the spring steel from corrosion and wear, extending component lifespan significantly and ensuring your springs maintain their performance characteristics even after exposure to wet conditions typical in UK RC racing environments.
  • 2.925 Rate Specification — The specific spring rate allows you to tune suspension stiffness precisely, enabling compensation for different vehicle weights and configurations to achieve the handling balance that suits your driving style and track conditions.
  • Blue Stripe Identification — The blue stripe provides easy visual identification of the spring rate, allowing you to quickly identify which springs are installed in your vehicle and prevent accidental mixing of different rates during maintenance or setup changes.
  • GTR 1/16 Scale Compatibility — Specifically engineered for 1/16 scale GTR models, these springs integrate seamlessly with Traxxas GTR suspension systems and mounting points, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal performance integration.
  • Sold in Pairs — This package includes two springs, providing a matched set for consistent suspension performance across both sides of your vehicle, which is essential for balanced handling and predictable driving characteristics.
  • Genuine Traxxas Component — As an official Traxxas part, you receive manufacturer-backed quality and engineering, ensuring compatibility with your GTR platform and compliance with original equipment specifications.

Technical Performance

Suspension setup represents one of the most critical aspects of RC car performance tuning, and spring rate selection is fundamental to achieving optimal handling characteristics. The Traxxas GTR shock springs utilise premium spring steel that provides consistent force characteristics throughout the compression and extension cycles, maintaining predictable suspension behaviour lap after lap. The 2.925 rate specification positions these springs in the medium-soft range, making them suitable for compensating for lighter vehicle configurations or providing a more compliant ride on rougher track surfaces. The nickel finish provides genuine corrosion resistance and durability benefits, particularly important for UK-based RC enthusiasts who may encounter damp conditions during outdoor racing. These springs work in concert with shock absorbers and anti-roll bars to create a complete suspension system that manages weight transfer, maintains ride height stability, and provides the responsive handling that separates competent setups from truly optimised platforms. Whether you're fine-tuning a competitive racing setup or simply refreshing worn suspension components on your basher, these genuine Traxxas springs deliver the engineering quality and performance consistency you expect from manufacturer-approved components. The blue stripe identification system ensures you can quickly identify spring rates during setup changes, reducing the risk of accidental mismatches that could compromise handling balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does spring rate mean and why does it matter for my RC car UK setup? — Spring rate refers to the stiffness of the spring, measured in kilogrammes per 10 millimetres of compression. A higher rate means a stiffer spring. Spring rate selection directly impacts your vehicle's suspension compliance, ride height stability, cornering grip and overall handling characteristics. Choosing the correct rate for your vehicle weight and driving style is essential for achieving optimal performance.
  • How do I know if the 2.925 rate is right for my GTR model? — The 2.925 rate is a medium-soft specification suitable for lighter vehicle configurations or for drivers seeking a more compliant ride. Your optimal spring rate depends on your vehicle weight, track surface characteristics and personal driving preferences. Experimenting with different rates is how competitive RC drivers fine-tune their setups. If you find your suspension bottoming out under hard cornering, you may need a stiffer rate; if the ride feels too harsh, a softer rate might improve performance.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on my RC car? — Mixing spring rates between front and rear is sometimes done intentionally as part of advanced setup tuning, but for balanced handling characteristics, most drivers prefer matched rates front and rear. If you're adjusting suspension setup, it's better to change rates consistently across the vehicle unless you have specific tuning reasons to do otherwise.
  • How often should I replace my shock springs? — Springs can fatigue over time with extended use, particularly if subjected to high-impact driving or if they've been compressed repeatedly. If you notice changes in ride height consistency, reduced suspension responsiveness, or visible damage to the spring coating, replacement is recommended. Many competitive drivers rotate through multiple spring sets as part of their maintenance routine.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, these genuine Traxxas springs are appropriate for RC enthusiasts of all experience levels. Beginners benefit from using quality manufacturer components, and understanding spring rate tuning is an excellent learning experience. As your skills develop, you'll appreciate how spring selection impacts overall vehicle performance.
  • Will these springs fit other RC models besides the GTR? — These springs are specifically engineered for Traxxas GTR 1/16 scale models and their suspension geometry. Cross-compatibility with other models is not guaranteed, as different platforms use different suspension designs and mounting specifications. Always verify compatibility before purchasing replacement components for alternative models.
  • What is the advantage of the nickel finish? — The nickel plating provides corrosion resistance and protects the underlying spring steel from oxidation and wear. This is particularly beneficial for UK-based RC drivers who may encounter moisture during outdoor racing sessions, extending component lifespan and maintaining consistent performance characteristics throughout the spring's service life.
