Key Features
- M0.6 Pitch Specification — The M0.6 metric module ensures perfect compatibility with standard RC drivetrain systems and meshes seamlessly with matching spur gears, guaranteeing smooth power delivery and minimal backlash.
- 17-Tooth Configuration — This 17-tooth design provides an optimal balance between acceleration and top speed, making it versatile for both racing applications and general bashing without sacrificing either aspect of performance.
- Aluminium 7075 Construction — Aircraft-grade aluminium 7075 is renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to wear, ensuring this pinion gear can handle the stresses of competitive RC driving whilst remaining lightweight for reduced rotational inertia.
- Precision Engineering — Fastrax components are manufactured to tight tolerances, ensuring each tooth is perfectly formed and accurately spaced for flawless engagement with your spur gear and minimal noise during operation.
- Extended Lifespan — The premium material and precise manufacturing mean this pinion gear will outperform standard alternatives, reducing the frequency of replacements and saving you money in the long run.
- Universal RC Compatibility — As a standard M0.6 metric module pinion, this gear is compatible with a wide range of RC vehicles from various manufacturers, making it an essential spare for any serious RC enthusiast with multiple cars in their collection.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax M0.6 17T Aluminium 7075 Pinion Gear represents the pinnacle of drivetrain component engineering for the RC hobby. Constructed from aircraft-grade aluminium 7075, this material is specifically chosen for its exceptional hardness, fatigue resistance, and strength characteristics. Unlike standard steel alternatives, aluminium 7075 offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio that reduces overall vehicle weight whilst maintaining the rigidity necessary for precise power transmission. The 17-tooth configuration strikes an ideal balance in the gear ratio spectrum — it's aggressive enough to provide responsive acceleration and snappy throttle response, yet conservative enough to deliver reasonable top speeds without over-revving the motor. The M0.6 metric module specification ensures perfect compatibility with the vast majority of modern RC cars available in the UK market, including buggies, trucks, crawlers, and competition vehicles. Precision manufacturing to exacting tolerances guarantees that each tooth is perfectly formed and accurately indexed, minimising mesh noise and drivetrain vibration. This precision also ensures minimal backlash when engaged with your spur gear, translating to more efficient power delivery and better overall vehicle control. Whether you're pushing your RC car to the limit on the track, tackling challenging off-road terrain, or simply enjoying recreational bashing, this pinion gear delivers the performance and reliability that dedicated hobbyists demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does M0.6 mean and why does it matter for my RC car? — M0.6 refers to the metric module specification of the gear teeth. This determines the pitch and size of the teeth, ensuring compatibility with matching spur gears. Using the correct module specification is essential — mismatched gears will cause noise, excessive wear, and poor performance. The M0.6 specification is a standard metric size used across the vast majority of modern RC vehicles in the UK market.
- Why should I choose a 17-tooth pinion gear? — The number of teeth on a pinion gear directly affects your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. A 17-tooth pinion provides a balanced setup that works well for both acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for most driving conditions. If you want quicker acceleration, you'd choose fewer teeth; for higher top speeds, you'd choose more teeth.
- What is aluminium 7075 and why is it better than other materials? — Aluminium 7075 is an aircraft-grade alloy renowned for its exceptional strength, hardness, and fatigue resistance. Compared to standard steel pinions, 7075 aluminium is lighter, reduces unsprung weight in your RC vehicle, and resists wear better. This means faster acceleration due to reduced rotational inertia and a longer-lasting component that won't need frequent replacement.
- How often will I need to replace this pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and use appropriate to your driving style, a quality Fastrax aluminium 7075 pinion gear like this one will last considerably longer than budget alternatives. Heavy racing use may require more frequent replacement than casual weekend bashing, but the premium materials mean you'll get extended service life either way.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst pinion gears are replacement parts rather than complete vehicles, they are suitable for anyone maintaining an RC car. If you're new to RC and unsure about drivetrain maintenance, our team at RC Model Shop can advise you on the correct specifications for your specific vehicle.
- What vehicles is this compatible with? — As a standard M0.6 metric module pinion, this gear is compatible with a wide variety of RC cars including buggies, trucks, and crawlers from multiple manufacturers. However, we recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting RC Model Shop to confirm your specific vehicle uses M0.6 module gears before purchasing.
