Overview
The Traxxas Toe link, Front & Rear (moulded composite) (2 pcs) / hollow balls (4 pcs) (87mm centre to centre) TRX6742 is an essential chassis spare part designed for Traxxas Rustler 4x4 XL-5 models and compatible RC vehicles. Whether you're a serious RC enthusiast in the UK looking to maintain your high-performance 4WD RC truck or a weekend basher who wants to keep your vehicle in peak condition, these composite toe links are a critical component for maintaining accurate front-end geometry and steering response. As a dedicated RC car UK retailer, we stock genuine Traxxas spare parts because we understand that quality replacements are essential for consistent performance and longevity of your investment.
Toe links play a vital role in RC suspension geometry, controlling the angle of your wheels relative to the direction of travel. Worn or damaged toe links will compromise handling precision, increase tyre wear, and reduce overall vehicle performance. The Traxxas TRX6742 is engineered with moulded composite construction, offering the perfect balance of durability and weight savings that serious RC enthusiasts demand. These parts are designed to work seamlessly with Traxxas suspension systems, ensuring your ready to run RC truck or competition vehicle maintains factory-specification geometry and responsive steering characteristics.
This particular toe link assembly includes everything you need to refresh the front and rear steering linkages on compatible models. The moulded composite material provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, resisting impact damage whilst keeping unsprung weight to a minimum. If you're undertaking routine maintenance on your brushless RC truck or preparing for competition, having spare toe links on hand is simply good practice. RC Model Shop stocks all the essential Traxxas chassis spares you need to keep your 4WD RC vehicles running at their best.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX6742 toe link assembly represents genuine engineering excellence in RC chassis components. Manufactured from moulded composite material, these parts deliver the optimal balance between strength, weight and durability that serious RC enthusiasts require. The 87mm centre-to-centre specification is engineered to maintain precise wheel alignment angles, which is absolutely critical for consistent handling characteristics on both smooth racing surfaces and rough off-road terrain. The inclusion of four hollow ball joints means you can perform complete front and rear steering linkage service in a single purchase, eliminating play and wear that accumulates through regular use of your brushless RC truck or competition vehicle. These components are designed to withstand the forces generated by high-speed cornering, jumping and impact landings without compromising their dimensional accuracy. The moulded composite construction provides excellent flex characteristics that absorb minor impacts whilst maintaining structural integrity far better than traditional plastic components. For anyone running a Traxxas Rustler 4x4 XL-5 or compatible model, these toe links represent an economical and essential maintenance item that will restore your vehicle's handling to factory specification and ensure predictable, responsive steering performance that keeps you competitive on the track or in control during weekend bashing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a toe link and why does my RC truck need one? — A toe link is a critical suspension component that connects the steering linkage to the wheel hub assembly, controlling the toe angle (inward or outward angle) of your wheels relative to the direction of travel. In RC trucks, toe links maintain proper suspension geometry, which directly affects steering response, tyre contact patch, and overall handling consistency. When toe links wear out or become damaged, your vehicle's steering becomes less responsive and your tyres wear unevenly. Replacing worn toe links restores your RC car's handling to factory specification and improves predictability during cornering and high-speed manoeuvres.
- Will these Traxxas toe links fit my RC truck? — Yes, these TRX6742 toe links are designed specifically for Traxxas Rustler 4x4 XL-5 models. However, Traxxas has extensive parts compatibility across many of their 1/10 scale 4WD models. Before ordering, we recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our RC enthusiasts at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your specific model. Our team are happy to advise on which spare parts suit your vehicle.
- How often should I replace my toe links? — Toe link replacement intervals depend on usage frequency and driving style. Casual bashers might replace them annually or every 20-30 hours of driving, whilst competition racers might service them more frequently depending on track conditions and impact levels. Inspect your toe links regularly for cracks, excessive play at the ball joints, or signs of bending. If you notice steering feeling vague or tyres wearing unevenly, toe link wear or damage is often the culprit. Quality composite toe links like these TRX6742 units will typically outlast many other chassis components.
- Can I install these toe links myself? — Yes, toe link installation is a straightforward procedure that most RC enthusiasts can accomplish with basic tools. You'll need a small wrench or ball-joint tool to remove the old toe links and install the new ones. Traxxas manuals include detailed assembly instructions, and our team at RC Model Shop is always happy to provide advice if you need guidance. If you're not confident, many UK RC shops offer assembly services, or you can visit us in store for expert assistance.
- What's the difference between composite and aluminium toe links? — Composite toe links offer excellent strength-to-weight ratio, resisting cracks under impact and providing consistent performance across a wide range of temperatures. They're also more forgiving on delicate suspension components compared to rigid aluminium alternatives. Aluminium toe links are slightly lighter but more prone to bending or cracking under severe impacts. For most bashers and racers, composite toe links like these TRX6742 units represent the best value and most reliable choice.
- Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, absolutely. RC Model Shop is an authorised Traxxas retailer, and these TRX6742 toe links are genuine manufacturer parts. We never stock counterfeit or inferior quality components, ensuring every spare part you purchase delivers authentic Traxxas engineering and performance.
