Overview
The Traxxas Belt, middle drive (4.5mm width, 121-groove HTD) TRX4863 is an essential replacement part for Traxxas RC cars, particularly the 4Tec 2.5 platform. Whether you are a serious RC enthusiast in the UK looking to maintain peak performance or a weekend basher who wants to keep your RC car in top condition, this middle drive belt is a critical component that ensures smooth power transmission from your motor to the drivetrain. As a precision-engineered spare part from Traxxas, one of the world's most respected RC manufacturers, this belt represents genuine quality and reliability that RC car UK enthusiasts have trusted for decades.
The 121-groove HTD (High Torque Drive) specification means this belt is engineered to handle the demands of high-performance RC driving with consistent engagement and minimal slippage. If you have noticed your Traxxas 4Tec 2.5 displaying signs of belt wear—such as loss of power delivery, unusual noise from the drivetrain, or inconsistent acceleration—a fresh middle drive belt is likely what your RC car needs. This is not a luxury upgrade; it is genuine maintenance that restores your RC vehicle to factory performance standards and ensures you get the best out of your investment.
RC Model Shop stocks this authentic Traxxas spare part to ensure you have access to the genuine components your RC car deserves. Replacement belts wear over time with use, especially if you are an active RC basher or competitor. Having a spare ready means you can get back on the track or field quickly without extended downtime. This belt is designed specifically for the 4Tec 2.5 platform, guaranteeing perfect fitment and optimal performance.
Key Features
- 121-Groove HTD Design — The 121-groove High Torque Drive configuration provides exceptional grip and power transfer efficiency, meaning your motor's power is delivered smoothly and reliably to your RC car's wheels without slippage or loss of traction.
- 4.5mm Width Specification — The precise 4.5mm width is engineered to match the exact tolerances of the 4Tec 2.5 drivetrain, ensuring perfect fitment and preventing misalignment that could cause premature wear or performance issues.
- Traxxas Genuine Quality — As an official Traxxas component, this belt meets the manufacturer's exacting standards for durability, precision and reliability, giving you confidence that you are using the exact same part that came in your RC car originally.
- Direct Replacement Part — This middle drive belt is a straightforward replacement component that restores your 4Tec 2.5 to factory performance, making it perfect for maintenance and repair without requiring any modifications or adaptations.

- Consistent Power Delivery — A fresh belt ensures that acceleration is smooth and responsive, giving you the precision control you need whether you are racing competitively or enjoying casual RC car driving in the UK.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas middle drive belt represents precision engineering at its finest. The 121-groove HTD belt design is specifically engineered for the demands of high-performance RC driving, where consistent power transmission is critical to achieving competitive lap times and smooth handling characteristics. The 4.5mm width specification is not arbitrary—it is calibrated to work perfectly with the 4Tec 2.5 pulley system, ensuring that power is transmitted efficiently from your brushless or brushed motor through to the differential and final drive without energy loss or vibration. HTD (High Torque Drive) belt technology uses precisely-shaped teeth that mesh with corresponding grooves on the pulleys, eliminating the slippage that can occur with traditional V-belts. This means that every bit of power your motor produces reaches the wheels, translating to better acceleration, more predictable handling, and faster lap times. As your belt ages with use, the teeth can wear smooth, causing slippage and loss of power delivery. This is particularly noticeable in competitive environments where consistency is everything. Traxxas engineers this belt to withstand the rigours of regular RC car use, whether you are bashing through rough terrain or pushing your 4Tec 2.5 to its limits on the track. The synthetic materials used in construction provide excellent resistance to heat, oil, and flexing, extending belt life compared to inferior aftermarket alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a middle drive belt and why does it need replacing? — The middle drive belt is a critical component in your Traxxas 4Tec 2.5 that transmits power from the motor to the drivetrain. Over time with regular use, belts wear and the teeth become smooth, causing slippage and loss of power delivery. Replacing a worn belt restores your RC car to factory performance and prevents damage to other drivetrain components. If you notice reduced acceleration or strange clicking sounds from your RC car UK setup, a belt replacement is often the solution.
- How often should I replace the middle drive belt on my 4Tec 2.5? — Belt life depends on your driving style and frequency of use. If you bash regularly or race competitively, inspect your belt monthly and replace it if the teeth appear worn or smooth. Casual drivers might go several months between replacements. It is always good practice to carry a spare belt in your toolkit so you can replace it trackside if needed during competition.
- Will this belt fit my Traxxas RC car? — This belt is specifically designed for the Traxxas 4Tec 2.5 platform. The 4.5mm width and 121-groove specification are calibrated for this model. If you own a different Traxxas model, consult the manual or contact us to confirm the correct belt specification for your vehicle.
- Is this belt genuine Traxxas? — Yes, this is a genuine Traxxas component manufactured to the same specifications as original equipment. When you order from RC Model Shop, you are receiving authentic Traxxas parts, not inferior aftermarket copies that may wear faster and perform inconsistently.
- What tools do I need to replace the middle drive belt? — Replacing the belt typically requires basic RC tools: an adjustable wrench or socket set to loosen the motor mount bolts, and possibly a hex key set to access pulley fasteners. Your 4Tec 2.5 manual will provide step-by-step instructions. If you are new to RC maintenance, RC Model Shop staff can provide guidance to help you through the process.
- Can I use this belt on other Traxxas models? — This belt is engineered specifically for the 4Tec 2.5. Other Traxxas models such as the Slash, Stampede, or Rustler use different belt specifications. Using the wrong belt will result in poor fitment and performance issues. Always verify the correct part number for your specific RC car model.
