Key Features

  • FASSTest 2.4 GHz Protocol — Operating across the 2.4 GHz frequency band with FASSTest technology, this receiver provides secure, interference-resistant signal transmission in 26-channel, 18-channel, or 12-channel modes, allowing you to select the configuration that best suits your specific aircraft requirements and control complexity.
  • Dual Rx Link System — The integrated Dual Rx Link System provides redundant radio link capability, enhancing signal reliability and failsafe security, which is critical for safe RC aircraft operation in challenging RF environments or at extended ranges.
  • High-Performance Antenna Diversity — Equipped with dual high-gain aerials using diversity method antenna selection, this receiver automatically switches between antennas to maintain the strongest possible signal reception, eliminating dead zones and improving range performance across all flight orientations.
  • S.BUS2 and S.BUS Output — Full S.BUS2 input/output and S.BUS output capability, combined with classic system output on Channel 3, provides maximum compatibility with modern digital servo systems and aircraft autopilots whilst maintaining backward compatibility with traditional PWM installations.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design — At just 6.0 grams and measuring only 39.5 x 21.5 x 6.5 millimetres, this receiver is small enough to fit in confined fuselage spaces, making it ideal for electric aircraft, scale models, and weight-critical applications where reducing airframe mass directly improves performance and flight duration.
  • Wide Voltage Support — The receiver accepts power supply between 3.7 and 7.4 volts (with available voltage range of 3.5 to 8.4 volts), providing compatibility with single-cell LiPo batteries through to dual-cell configurations without requiring voltage regulators in most applications.
  • Programmable Battery Failsafe — Full-scale battery voltage is set directly via your transmitter, allowing quick configuration without computer software and enabling precise failsafe setup tailored to your specific aircraft and servo requirements.
  • Sub-Receiver Capability — The R7301SB can function as a secondary receiver in advanced multi-receiver installations, giving RC pilots maximum flexibility for complex aircraft projects or experimental control configurations.

Technical Performance

The Futaba R7301SB represents a pinnacle of miniaturised receiver engineering, delivering professional-grade performance in an ultra-compact package that weighs just 6 grams. The receiver's FASSTest 2.4 GHz protocol utilises frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, ensuring secure communication resistant to interference from Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and other 2.4 GHz devices commonly encountered in UK airspace. The Dual Rx Link System provides dual-redundancy at the receiver level, which means your aircraft maintains signal lock even if one radio link experiences temporary disruption. The diversity antenna system with high-gain aerials represents a significant advancement in reception technology, allowing the receiver to instantly switch between antenna inputs to maintain optimal signal strength regardless of the aircraft's orientation in flight. Build quality is entirely consistent with Futaba's reputation for reliability, with all internal components potted or protected against environmental conditions. The receiver supports simultaneous S.BUS2, S.BUS, and PWM outputs, allowing integration with the latest digital servo systems, telemetry modules, and flight control boards, or with traditional analogue servo installations. Power delivery is stable across the full 3.5 to 8.4-volt range, accommodating everything from low-voltage emergency conditions through to peak charge states on dual LiPo cells. This receiver is sealed and ready to install directly into your aircraft structure without additional weatherproofing in typical recreational flying conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Futaba R7301SB suitable for beginners new to RC aircraft? — The R7301SB is best suited to experienced RC pilots with existing knowledge of radio system setup, as it requires familiarity with S.BUS protocols and aircraft integration. If you're completely new to RC aircraft, you may benefit from starting with simpler, ready-to-fly systems that include matched receiver and transmitter packages. However, if you have prior experience with RC aircraft and understand receiver installation, this Futaba receiver offers excellent performance and reliability.
  • What battery voltage does this receiver require? — The R7301SB operates from 3.7 to 7.4 volts nominal, with an extended range of 3.5 to 8.4 volts. This means you can power it with a single-cell 1S LiPo battery (typically 3.7V nominal) or a two-cell 2S LiPo battery (typically 7.4V nominal). Dry cells cannot be used. The full-scale battery voltage is set directly through your transmitter without requiring computer configuration.
  • Can the R7301SB work as a secondary receiver in a multi-receiver setup? — Yes, the R7301SB can actively function as a sub-receiver in advanced installations where multiple receivers are required. This flexibility makes it suitable for experimental aircraft projects or complex control schemes developed by experienced RC pilots.
  • What are the key differences between PWM and S.BUS output on this receiver? — PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is the traditional RC servo control signal used for decades, outputting individual signals on separate wires for each channel. S.BUS is a modern digital protocol that transmits all channel data over a single serial signal wire, reducing wiring complexity and supporting advanced telemetry feedback. The R7301SB outputs on both PWM (Channel 3) and S.BUS simultaneously, allowing you to connect either traditional PWM servos or modern S.BUS servos and autopilots, or a combination of both.
  • What is the range of this receiver? — Futaba does not publish specific range figures in the technical specifications, as range performance depends on many variables including antenna orientation, environmental RF interference, transmitter antenna design, and aircraft altitude. The dual high-gain antenna diversity system is engineered for maximum range in typical recreational flying conditions across the UK.
  • Is the R7301SB weatherproof for outdoor flying? — The receiver is potted internally and suitable for typical outdoor RC aircraft operations. However, it should not be submerged in water and should be protected from heavy rain during storage. Standard RC aircraft installation practices, such as placing the receiver in a protected location within the fuselage, are recommended.
  • How many channels does the R7301SB actually support? — This receiver is designated as 1-channel PWM output because it provides one dedicated PWM channel (Channel 3), but it supports 26 total channels via S.BUS2 protocol, or reduced configurations of 18 or 12 channels depending on your transmitter settings. The S.BUS connection can carry all 26 channels of data to compatible servos and flight controllers, whilst the single PWM output provides a dedicated signal for the primary control channel.
  • What transmitters are compatible with the R7301SB? — The R7301SB works with any Futaba FASSTest 2.4 GHz transmitter, including Futaba's full range of radio control transmitters manufactured for air models. Compatibility is automatic—once bound to a compatible transmitter, the receiver will operate seamlessly across all FASSTest modes.
