At just 7.2 grams and measuring 33.9 x 22.3 x 11.3 millimetres, the R334SBS-E is engineered for modern electric RC car designs where space is at a premium and weight savings matter. The dual aerial system—featuring one built-in antenna plus a short external aerial—ensures excellent signal reception whilst maintaining the clean aesthetic of a professionally installed RC car. This is a ready-to-use receiver that slots seamlessly into your existing Futaba T-FHSS radio system, whether you're upgrading an older setup or building a new racing platform from scratch.

The R334SBS-E stands out in the crowded RC car receiver market because it offers versatility without compromise. Three distinct operational modes allow you to match your receiver's performance characteristics to your driving style and servo capabilities, whilst the integrated S.BUS2 protocol support means you can access telemetry data in real time, giving you insights into your vehicle's performance that were previously available only on high-end competition setups.

Key Features

  • T-FHSS SR 'Super Response' Mode — This ultra-fast operational mode delivers the most responsive servo control available, with lightning-quick signal processing that gives you an edge in competitive racing situations. SR mode requires compatible SR-capable servos and disables telemetry and S.BUS functions to achieve this speed advantage, making it the choice of serious RC car racers who demand the quickest possible response times.
  • T-FHSS High Speed Mode — For drivers who want faster performance without switching to SR mode, T-FHSS High Speed delivers improved responsiveness over standard T-FHSS operation. This mode requires Futaba digital or brushless servos rather than analogue units, ensuring your servo hardware can keep pace with the receiver's capabilities.
  • Standard T-FHSS Mode — Traditional T-FHSS protocol operation provides reliable, proven performance for general RC car use and is compatible with a wider range of servo types, making it ideal for casual drivers and those new to high-performance RC cars in the UK.
  • S.BUS2 with Telemetry — The integrated S.BUS2 protocol support with telemetry capability means you can monitor real-time performance data from your vehicle during operation. This advanced feature allows you to track servo positions, battery voltage, and other critical parameters, helping you optimise your setup and diagnose issues quickly.
  • Dual Diversity Aerials — The combination of one built-in antenna and one short external aerial mounted to the case provides excellent signal reception diversity whilst keeping the overall profile small and tidy. This design allows neat installations under the body shell without any sacrifice to reception quality or performance.
  • High-Voltage Capability (3.7–7.4V) — The R334SBS-E operates across a wide voltage range from 3.7 volts to 7.4 volts, giving you flexibility in power source selection. This means you can power the receiver from single-cell LiPo batteries, two-cell packs, or even higher-voltage configurations, allowing you to extract maximum performance from high-voltage servos without requiring additional voltage regulation circuitry.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design — Weighing just 7.2 grams and measuring 33.9 x 22.3 x 11.3 millimetres, the R334SBS-E is optimised for modern electric RC car designs where weight distribution and chassis space are critical factors. Its small footprint makes it easy to mount in tight spaces under body panels.
  • 2.4GHz Frequency Operation — The receiver operates on the internationally recognised 2.4GHz frequency band, the standard for modern RC equipment worldwide. This frequency offers excellent range and reliability with minimal interference concerns.
  • Gold-Plated Connectors — The connectors feature gold plating to ensure reliable electrical connections and prevent oxidation over time, maintaining consistent signal integrity through many hours of use.
  • Fail Safe Functionality — The receiver includes both standard fail-safe and battery fail-safe functions (dependent on your transmitter), providing crucial safety features that prevent your RC car from running away if the signal is lost or the battery voltage drops critically.
  • 10mW Power Output — The 10mW EIRP (Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power) output provides strong, reliable signal transmission across typical RC car usage distances.

Technical Performance

The R334SBS-E represents the pinnacle of compact receiver design for electric RC cars, combining high-performance engineering with practical usability. Built by Futaba, a company that has been leading the RC industry since 1962 and pioneered radio control technology for over six decades, this receiver incorporates decades of refinement and expertise. The three operational modes—T-FHSS, T-FHSS High Speed, and T-FHSS SR—provide a performance envelope that spans from casual weekend bashing to serious competitive racing. In standard T-FHSS mode, the receiver works reliably with most servo types, making it accessible to RC car drivers at any skill level. T-FHSS High Speed mode increases responsiveness for drivers seeking better performance, requiring Futaba digital or brushless servos to handle the faster command rates. The ultra-responsive T-FHSS SR mode, designed specifically for the most demanding racing applications, delivers servo response times that previous generations of RC car receivers simply could not match—but this incredible speed requires SR-capable servos and necessarily disables S.BUS and telemetry functions to achieve the performance gain. The receiver's 4-channel architecture provides control for steering, throttle, and two additional auxiliary channels for features like switching, brake control, or gearbox management depending on your vehicle setup. The S.BUS2 telemetry integration opens up a world of real-time performance monitoring, allowing you to track system health and optimise your RC car's setup with data-driven decisions rather than guesswork. The dual-antenna diversity system ensures you maintain strong signal reception even in challenging RF environments or when the receiver's orientation changes during dynamic driving. With dimensions of just 33.9 x 22.3 x 11.3 millimetres and a weight of 7.2 grams, the receiver is light enough that it barely impacts your vehicle's weight distribution—a critical consideration for electric RC cars where every gram affects handling and acceleration. The operating voltage range of 3.7 to 7.4 volts provides genuine flexibility; you can run the receiver from a single-cell lithium polymer battery for minimal weight and simplicity, or step up to higher voltages to ensure stable operation with demanding servo loads and digital servo control circuits.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the Futaba R334SBS-E work with my Futaba T4GRS transmitter? — Yes, the R334SBS-E is fully compatible with Futaba T4GRS transmitters and other Futaba radio systems that support T-FHSS surface protocols. It will work seamlessly as a drop-in replacement receiver for your existing Futaba radio gear.
  • What's the difference between T-FHSS, T-FHSS High Speed, and T-FHSS SR modes? — Standard T-FHSS mode provides reliable performance compatible with most servo types, including analogue servos. T-FHSS High Speed mode delivers faster servo response and requires Futaba digital or brushless servos. T-FHSS SR (Super Response) mode offers the absolute fastest servo response available but requires SR-capable servos and disables telemetry and S.BUS functions—it's designed specifically for competitive racers who demand maximum responsiveness.
  • Does this receiver support telemetry? — Yes, the R334SBS-E includes S.BUS2 telemetry functionality, allowing you to monitor real-time performance data from your RC car. However, telemetry is automatically disabled when using T-FHSS SR mode, as that mode prioritises maximum servo response speed above all other features.
  • What voltage does the R334SBS-E need? — The receiver operates from 3.7 to 7.4 volts DC. You can power it from a single-cell 3.7V LiPo battery, a two-cell 7.4V pack, or any compatible power source within this range. The wide voltage range gives you flexibility in your vehicle's electrical design.
  • Can I use standard servo with this receiver? — Standard analogue servos work fine in regular T-FHSS mode. However, T-FHSS High Speed mode requires Futaba digital or brushless servos, and T-FHSS SR mode specifically requires SR-capable servos. Always check your servo specifications against your chosen operating mode.
  • Is this receiver suitable for beginners? — The R334SBS-E is best suited to drivers with some RC car experience, as it's optimised for performance-oriented use.
