This advanced receiver combines Futaba's proven 2.4GHz T-FHSS modulation technology with modern S.BUS and S.BUS2 connectivity, making it an excellent choice for anyone building or upgrading their RC plane, glider, or flying wing. Whether you're a seasoned RC aircraft pilot or someone discovering the world of radio control flight for the first time, this receiver delivers the reliability and flexibility you need for smooth, stable flights.

At just 8.5 grams with dimensions of only 25 x 43.1 x 8.8mm, the R3006SB is incredibly lightweight and compact, making it ideal for space-constrained aircraft builds where every gram matters. Despite its small footprint, this receiver packs serious functionality with dual antenna diversity for superior range and signal reliability, plus full telemetry support through the S.BUS2 port. The receiver operates across an impressive voltage range of 4.0V to 8.4V, giving you flexibility in battery selection and allowing you to take advantage of higher voltage setups for improved performance in your RC aircraft.

What truly sets the R3006SB apart is its dual communication system. It offers six standard PWM outputs for traditional servo connections alongside full S.BUS and S.BUS2 digital protocols, allowing you to mix and match connection types based on your specific aircraft configuration and servo requirements. This flexibility means you can upgrade your RC aircraft setup gradually, using conventional servos where you prefer whilst adopting digital servos and telemetry sensors elsewhere in your aircraft.

Key Features

  • 2.4GHz T-FHSS Modulation — Futaba's T-FHSS (Time-division Full-duplex Spread Spectrum) modulation technology provides secure, interference-free communication with compatible transmitters, ensuring your RC aircraft responds instantly and reliably to your input throughout your flight session, whether you're flying in busy airspace or at quiet club fields.
  • Dual Antenna Diversity — The receiver features dual antenna diversity, which automatically selects the strongest signal from two antennas, dramatically improving range and eliminating dead zones that could otherwise cause signal dropouts during critical flight moments in your RC aircraft operations.
  • 6-Channel PWM Outputs — Six dedicated PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) output channels provide traditional servo control compatibility, allowing you to connect standard RC servos directly to the receiver without needing additional conversion hardware, making installation straightforward for any RC aircraft builder.
  • S.BUS and S.BUS2 Protocol Support — Beyond the six standard PWM channels, the receiver supports Futaba's S.BUS digital protocol for streamlined wiring with digital servos, and S.BUS2 for advanced bi-directional communication and telemetry data from your RC aircraft components.
  • Bi-directional Communication via S.BUS2 — The S.BUS2 port enables two-way communication with compatible T-FHSS Air transmitters, allowing your transmitter to receive real-time telemetry data from sensors throughout your RC aircraft, such as battery voltage, altitude, speed, and temperature readings.
  • Full Telemetry Support — When connected through S.BUS2, an impressive array of compatible telemetry sensors can be integrated into your RC aircraft setup, providing you with crucial flight data displayed on your transmitter's screen during your flights, helping you monitor aircraft health and performance in real-time.
  • Ultra-Compact and Lightweight Design — Weighing only 8.5 grams with minimal external dimensions of 25 x 43.1 x 8.8mm, this receiver is one of the lightest options available for RC aircraft, helping you keep your model's weight down for improved flight characteristics and longer flight times.
  • Extended Voltage Operating Range — The receiver operates safely from 4.0V through to 8.4V, providing flexibility to use various battery configurations in your RC aircraft, including traditional 2S batteries through to higher voltage setups that deliver improved servo performance and response.
  • Hybrid Connection Flexibility — The receiver can operate with S.BUS as the main communication link to servos, or you can use a combination of S.BUS digital connections and conventional PWM outputs simultaneously, giving you maximum flexibility in how you configure your RC aircraft's control systems.

Technical Performance

The R3006SB represents the pinnacle of compact receiver design for RC aircraft applications. Built to Futaba's exacting engineering standards established since 1948, this receiver delivers industry-leading performance in a package so small and light it barely adds measurable weight to your aircraft. The dual antenna diversity system is particularly impressive for RC aircraft use — it constantly monitors signal strength from both antennas and automatically switches to whichever provides the strongest connection, effectively eliminating signal dead zones that plagued older single-antenna receivers. The rated voltage specification of 4.8V to 7.4V represents the optimal operating window where the receiver performs at peak efficiency, whilst the extended operating range of 4.0V to 8.4V allows operation during battery discharge and with higher capacity setups respectively. The 2.4GHz T-FHSS protocol operates on frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, meaning your RC aircraft's communication is inherently resistant to interference from other radio control systems, WiFi networks, and other 2.4GHz devices commonly found around UK flying fields. With support for both traditional PWM servo control and modern digital S.BUS protocols, the receiver bridges conventional and contemporary RC aircraft building practices, allowing builders to construct their ideal setup without being locked into a single control methodology. The S.BUS2 telemetry capability transforms the receiver from a simple signal link into an intelligent data hub, gathering information from distributed sensors throughout your aircraft and relaying it back to your transmitter display in real-time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Futaba R3006SB suitable for beginners in RC aircraft? — Yes, this receiver is excellent for beginners, though you will need a compatible Futaba T-FHSS transmitter. The receiver itself is straightforward to install; beginner builders can use standard PWM servo connections initially, then explore S.BUS digital functionality as their skills advance. The compact size and light weight make it ideal for learning with scale models and trainers.
  • What battery does the R3006SB need for my RC aircraft? — The receiver operates between 4.0V and 8.4V, with optimal performance at 4.8V to 7.4V. This means a 2S LiPo battery (7.4V nominal) is perfect for most RC aircraft applications, though some builders prefer 2S NiMH packs (4.8V nominal) for reliability. Even older 1S setups will work at minimum voltage. Always ensure your battery connector matches the receiver's input specifications.
  • Can I use this receiver with non-Futaba transmitters? — No, the R3006SB specifically uses Futaba's T-FHSS modulation protocol and will only work with compatible Futaba T-FHSS Air transmitters. It is not compatible with JR, Spektrum, or other brand transmitters.
  • What is the difference between the PWM outputs and S.BUS outputs? — The six PWM outputs work with standard RC servos using individual signal wires, a common approach that works reliably but requires more wiring. S.BUS digital protocol transmits all servo signals through a single data wire, reducing wiring complexity and weight in your RC aircraft. S.BUS2 additionally enables bi-directional communication for telemetry and advanced features.
  • How many servos can I connect to this receiver? — The receiver offers six PWM outputs for standard servo connections directly. Via S.BUS protocol, you can connect digital servos in a daisy-chain configuration, potentially controlling more channels if your transmitter supports them. Check your transmitter's documentation for the exact number of channels it provides.
  • Does the R3006SB include telemetry sensors? — No, the receiver itself does not include telemetry sensors. However, it includes the S.BUS2 port that allows you to connect optional Futaba telemetry sensors separately. These sensors must be purchased separately based on what flight parameters you wish to monitor.
  • What makes the dual antenna diversity important for RC aircraft? — As your aircraft flies, antenna orientation and body position constantly change relative to your transmitter. Dual antenna diversity allows the receiver to always use the antenna with the strongest signal, preventing the signal dropouts that occur with single-antenna systems. This is especially critical during aerobatic manoeuvres or when flying at low angles.
  • How much does the R3006SB weigh compared to other receivers? — At 8.5 grams, the R3006SB is exceptionally lightweight, making it one of the smallest and lightest 6-channel receivers available for RC aircraft. This minimal weight impact is crucial for models where every gram affects flight performance.
  • Can I mix PWM and S.BUS servos on the same receiver? — Yes, this is one of the R3006SB's key strengths. You can use traditional PWM servos on the six PWM outputs whilst simultaneously using digital S.BUS servos connected via the S.BUS port, allowing a flexible approach to aircraft configuration.
