The Traxxas Drag Link in vibrant red anodised 6061-T6 aluminium is a premium steering component designed to elevate the performance and appearance of your X-Maxx or XRT RC truck. Whether you're a dedicated RC enthusiast in the UK looking to upgrade your monster truck or a serious basher wanting to improve steering precision, this genuine Traxxas accessory delivers both functional benefits and eye-catching style. The drag link is an essential suspension and steering component that connects your steering bellcranks, and this aluminium version significantly improves upon standard plastic alternatives by reducing flex and enhancing the responsiveness of your RC vehicle.
Machined from high-grade 6061-T6 aluminium and finished with a brilliant hard-anodized coating, this drag link combines durability with stunning visual appeal. The double-shear billet construction methodology ensures minimal flex between the steering bellcranks, translating directly to more precise steering input and better handling characteristics during high-speed runs or technical courses. The hard-anodized finish in striking red not only adds vibrant colour to your RC truck but also provides superior protection against corrosion and wear, ensuring your investment maintains its appearance through countless hours of bashing and racing.
As a genuine Traxxas spare part made by Traxxas for Traxxas vehicles, this drag link guarantees perfect factory fit and finish, eliminating any guesswork or compatibility concerns. Whether you're upgrading from stock components or rebuilding your RC truck after a heavy weekend of off-road action, this red-anodised drag link is the choice of professional RC racers and hobby enthusiasts across the UK.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas drag link represents a significant upgrade from standard plastic steering components commonly found on entry-level RC trucks. Constructed from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminium, this component is precision-machined to exacting tolerances using double-shear billet methodology, which creates a more robust connection between steering bellcranks with minimal deflection under load. The engineering behind this design specifically addresses one of the most common weak points in RC truck steering systems: flex. When plastic drag links flex during aggressive steering inputs—particularly during high-speed turns or when hitting obstacles—the steering response becomes delayed and imprecise. This aluminium alternative virtually eliminates that problem. The hard-anodized finish applied to the red-anodised version provides a protective layer that is harder than the underlying aluminium, dramatically improving corrosion resistance and durability. This is particularly important for UK RC enthusiasts who frequently encounter damp conditions, muddy terrain, and variable weather. The brilliant red colour remains vibrant and protected even after extended use, thanks to the professional hard-anodizing process. The drag link's compatibility with the Traxxas 7747 aluminium servo horn ensures that you can build a complete high-performance steering system with complementary components, all designed to work together for optimal steering geometry and response. Whether you're pushing your RC truck to maximum speed on a flat circuit or navigating technical rock crawling sections, the reduced flex and improved precision of this aluminium drag link will be immediately noticeable compared to stock plastic components.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a drag link and why do I need to upgrade to aluminium? — A drag link is a critical steering component that connects your servo horn to the steering bellcranks, transferring steering input from your radio receiver to the wheels. Stock plastic versions flex under load, causing delayed steering response and imprecise handling. Upgrading to this 6061-T6 aluminium drag link eliminates flex, resulting in immediate improvement to steering precision and responsiveness, particularly noticeable during high-speed manoeuvres and aggressive bashing.
- Is this drag link compatible with my Traxxas RC truck? — Yes, this drag link is specifically engineered for Traxxas X-Maxx and XRT models. It fits perfectly with genuine Traxxas servo horns and steering components. Always verify your specific model in the compatibility list before ordering, as different Traxxas platforms use different steering geometries.
- What models does this drag link fit? — This drag link is compatible with the following Traxxas models: X-Maxx, X-Maxx Ultimate, X-Maxx Belted, XRT, XRT VXL-8S, and XRT Ultimate. It also fits the Traxxas Funco Motorsports Pro Scale 8S 2WD Electric Sand Car. Check your vehicle's part list to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- What bearings come with this drag link? — The complete assembly includes two 5x8x2.5 mm bearings and two 5x10x4 mm bearings, providing smooth pivoting action and precise steering geometry. These premium bearings are pre-installed, ready for immediate use.
- How difficult is installation? — Installing this drag link is straightforward for users with basic RC maintenance experience. It connects to your servo horn on one end and bellcranks on the other using the supplied hardware. Detailed Traxxas assembly instructions are available for your specific model. If you're new to RC maintenance, Traxxas offers video guides and our team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance.
- Will this improve my RC truck's steering feel? — Absolutely. The reduction in flex between steering components directly translates to more responsive steering, particularly noticeable during high-speed turns, tight manoeuvres, and when navigating obstacles. You'll experience tighter, more precise handling compared to plastic drag links.
- Is the red anodised finish durable? — Yes. The hard-anodized finish is significantly harder than standard anodizing and provides superior protection against corrosion, scratches, and colour fading. This makes it ideal for UK RC enthusiasts who face variable weather conditions, mud, and wet terrain.
- Can I use this with aftermarket servo horns? — This drag link is designed to work optimally with the Traxxas 7747 aluminium servo horn. Compatibility with other aftermarket servo horns depends on their specifications and connection points. Check your servo horn specifications before purchasing to ensure proper fitment.
