Technical Performance
The FlySky FS-IA6B receiver represents a carefully engineered balance between simplicity and capability. Its 2.4GHz AFHDS 2A protocol operates digitally, providing strong rejection of RF interference that can plague older analogue systems. The dual copper tube antenna design operates on the principle of spatial diversity—by receiving signals on two physically separated antennas, the receiver can select the strongest signal path moment-by-moment, significantly improving link reliability during aggressive manoeuvres when the model rotates through different orientations. The receiver's six PWM channels provide up to 1500 microseconds of pulse width modulation per channel, offering the resolution necessary for precise servo control and smooth throttle management on electric speed controllers. Construction quality is evident in the compact PCB design, with all critical components potted and protected against moisture and physical shock. The 4.0 to 8.4 volt operating range reflects careful power supply design, with internal voltage regulation ensuring consistent channel output regardless of input voltage variations caused by battery discharge or fluctuating charger outputs. Temperature performance between -10°C and +60°C covers practical UK operating environments, with the receiver maintaining digital lock and channel accuracy across seasonal temperature swings. The lightweight 10-gram design minimises impact on your model's weight budget, whilst the compact dimensions allow flexible mounting in tight spaces without requiring extensive mechanical modifications. The inclusion of multiple output protocols—PWM for traditional servos and ESCs, PPM for legacy systems, and modern i.bus/s.bus for contemporary digital servo and ESC ecosystems—ensures compatibility across the full spectrum of RC equipment available in the UK market.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the FlySky FS-IA6B receiver compatible with all FlySky transmitters? — The FS-IA6B is specifically designed for the FlySky FS-i6X transmitter and derivatives of that system. Compatibility with other FlySky transmitter models cannot be confirmed, so if you own an older FS-i6 (without the X designation), you should contact RC Model Shop before purchasing to verify compatibility with your specific equipment.
- What is the maximum range I can expect from this receiver? — Under ideal conditions with clear line-of-sight in the air, the FS-IA6B delivers 500 to 1500 metres of reliable range. Actual range in practice depends on antenna orientation, terrain, surrounding structures and RF interference from other 2.4GHz devices. For RC flying applications, this range is more than sufficient for any typical UK RC park or flying field operation.
- Can I use this receiver with different ESC brands? — Yes, the FS-IA6B's support for PWM, PPM, i.bus and s.bus output formats means it works with electronic speed controllers from most major manufacturers including Hobbywing, Castle, Spektrum and others. Check your ESC documentation to confirm which signal protocol it accepts, then configure the receiver output accordingly.
- What battery voltage does the FS-IA6B require? — The receiver operates from 4.0 to 8.4 volts, which encompasses a wide range of RC battery options. This includes single-cell LiPo batteries (approximately 3.0 to 4.2 volts nominal to maximum charge), two or three-cell NiMH packs (around 2.4 to 3.6 volts), or dedicated receiver battery packs. Check your transmitter specifications to ensure proper voltage matching for receiver and transmitter operation.
