Overview
The Traxxas Body, GTX Shock (Hard-anodised, PTFE-coated aluminium) TRX7765X is a premium suspension upgrade component designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive bashers who demand the very best in damping performance and durability. This is a replacement shock body that represents Traxxas's commitment to engineering excellence in the RC car hobby, delivering the smooth, responsive handling that separates good RC performance from exceptional RC performance. Whether you're running a Traxxas X-Maxx monster truck or similar platform, this GTX shock body is engineered to transform your suspension's feel and longevity.
Built from hard-anodised aluminium and finished with a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating, this shock body is designed for long-lasting, ultra-smooth damping performance that outperforms standard steel alternatives. The PTFE coating—the same material used in high-performance industrial and automotive applications—creates an incredibly low-friction surface that allows the shock piston to move through the damping fluid with minimal resistance. This translates directly to more responsive suspension behaviour, better traction over uneven terrain, and improved overall handling characteristics that RC enthusiasts across the UK have come to expect from genuine Traxxas performance parts.
If you're looking to upgrade your RC truck's suspension geometry or replace worn shock bodies on your existing setup, this premium GTX shock body from Traxxas is the specification choice for serious RC car UK owners who refuse to compromise on quality.
Key Features
- Hard-anodised aluminium construction — The shock body is manufactured from premium aluminium that has been hard-anodised to create an exceptionally durable surface finish that resists corrosion, abrasion and impact damage, ensuring your suspension components last through season after season of intense RC bashing and racing.
- PTFE-coated surface — The PTFE coating provides an ultra-low-friction interface between the shock piston and body, enabling smoother damping action and more consistent performance across varying driving conditions, which is essential for both competitive racing and recreational off-road driving.
- Long-lasting damping performance — The combination of hard-anodised aluminium and PTFE coating creates a suspension component that maintains its responsive feel for hundreds of charge cycles, resisting wear and degradation that can occur with standard shock bodies over time.
- Ultra-smooth operation — The low-friction design ensures that compression and rebound damping remains perfectly smooth and predictable, giving you precise control over your RC vehicle's suspension behaviour whether you're jumping, cornering or navigating rough terrain.
- Single piece per package — This is a replacement shock body suitable for upgrading one shock on your RC vehicle, making it ideal for incremental suspension improvements or replacing a damaged component without needing to purchase a complete shock assembly.
- Traxxas genuine part — As an official Traxxas part number TRX7765X, this shock body integrates seamlessly with Traxxas suspension systems and is engineered to exact OEM specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliable performance.
Technical Performance
The GTX shock body represents the pinnacle of Traxxas's suspension engineering philosophy. The hard-anodised aluminium barrel provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, allowing the shock to remain responsive while withstanding the enormous forces generated during high-speed runs, massive jumps and aggressive cornering. The hard-anodising process creates a protective oxide layer on the aluminium surface that is significantly harder than the base metal, dramatically improving wear resistance and corrosion protection—critical attributes for RC vehicles that are regularly exposed to muddy tracks, saltwater environments and UV sunlight. The PTFE coating layered over the hard-anodised finish is where the real performance magic happens: PTFE is a polymer material with one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid material, meaning the shock piston encounters almost no drag as it compresses and extends through the damping oil. This ultra-low-friction interface allows the suspension's spring and damping characteristics to express themselves more faithfully, resulting in more predictable and responsive handling. Whether you're running this on a high-powered brushless RC monster truck or upgrading your existing setup, the GTX shock body will deliver noticeably smoother suspension action compared to standard shock bodies. The engineering focus on friction reduction also means less wear on internal shock components over time, extending the service life of your entire suspension system and reducing long-term maintenance requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Traxxas RC vehicles is this GTX shock body compatible with? — This shock body is designed for Traxxas X-Maxx models including the X-Maxx Belted 4WD Brushless RTR 8S Monster Truck in orange, blue, red and green variants, as well as the X-Maxx Ultimate variants and X-Monster Chassis. It may be compatible with other Traxxas platforms that use the long GTX shock format, but you should verify compatibility with your specific model before purchasing.
- Is this a complete shock assembly or just the body? — This is a replacement shock body only, containing just the hard-anodised aluminium barrel with PTFE coating. To create a complete shock assembly, you would need to combine this body with additional shock components such as the piston, seals, springs and damping fluid. If you need a complete pre-assembled shock, you should look for full GTX shock assemblies instead.
- What makes the PTFE coating better than standard shock bodies? — PTFE (Teflon) is one of the lowest-friction materials available, meaning the shock piston moves through the damping fluid with minimal resistance. This results in smoother, more responsive suspension action that better translates the suspension's spring rate and damping settings into actual vehicle handling. Standard steel or uncoated aluminium shock bodies create more friction, which can make the suspension feel less responsive and create inconsistencies in damping performance.
- How long does a GTX shock body last? — The hard-anodised and PTFE-coated construction is engineered for long-lasting performance, significantly outlasting standard shock bodies. With proper maintenance and regular fluid changes, a GTX shock body should maintain its ultra-smooth performance for hundreds of charge cycles and years of regular RC car use.
- Is this suitable for beginners to RC? — This is a replacement/upgrade component rather than a complete ready-to-run RC system, so it's intended for users who already have an RC vehicle and are looking to improve its suspension performance. Beginners would typically start with a ready-to-run RTR RC truck and upgrade components like this as their skills develop.
- What is the difference between GTX shock bodies and standard Traxxas shocks? — GTX shocks represent Traxxas's premium suspension technology featuring hard-anodised aluminium bodies with PTFE coating for ultra-smooth, low-friction damping action. Standard Traxxas shocks use different materials and construction methods that provide good performance but lack the advanced friction-reduction technology and durability of the GTX design.
