Overview
The Traxxas High-Torque 330 Digital Servo (TRX2250) represents the pinnacle of steering performance for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK. This is not a standard servo—it's a precision-engineered component designed to transform the steering response and control of your RC car, truck, or crawler. With 330 ounce-inches of torque, this powerhouse delivers over 2.5 times more steering authority than the standard Traxxas 2075 servo, making it the ultimate upgrade choice for demanding RC applications. Whether you're pushing a TRX-4 trail crawler through technical terrain, running a Slash on full throttle across rough ground, or piloting an Unlimited Desert Racer at speed, the High-Torque 330 gives you the steering muscle and response you need to stay in control.
This servo is engineered for drivers who refuse to compromise on performance. If you're serious about RC car control, trail-crawling precision, or competitive racing in the UK, the TRX2250 is the upgrade your setup deserves. The servo combines cutting-edge coreless motor technology with a full metal gearset, dual ball bearings, and an anodised aluminium centre case that doesn't just look beautiful—it actively cools the servo during extended driving sessions. Complete waterproofing means you can run through mud, water, and snow without hesitation, while the digital controller ensures lightning-quick response to your transmitter inputs.
Drop this servo into most 1/10 scale Traxxas vehicles and you'll immediately notice the difference. Faster steering input response, more precise cornering control, and the ability to muscle heavy or heavily-modified vehicles without hesitation. The High-Torque 330 is factory-fit for compatibility with standard Traxxas servo mounts, making installation straightforward for most models. For TRX-4 owners, note that installation requires the High-Voltage BEC Kit #2262 and a steel servo horn #8247X is recommended to handle the increased torque.
Key Features
- 330 Ounce-Inches of Torque — This exceptional torque rating means the servo can exert tremendous force through your steering linkages, providing 2.5 times more power than standard servos. This is critical for heavy vehicles, large tyres, and demanding terrain where standard servos would struggle or simply give up.
- Coreless Motor Technology — Unlike traditional wound-armature motors, the coreless motor in this servo delivers lightning-quick response and superior command precision. You'll feel the difference immediately in steering sharpness and the servo's ability to follow your control inputs without lag or delay.
- Full Metal Gear Set — All internal gears are metal rather than composite plastic, providing dramatically improved durability and longevity under the extreme loads that high-torque operation demands. Metal gears can handle significantly more stress before failure, making this servo reliable for serious, extended use.
- Dual Ball Bearings — The output shaft is supported by dual ball bearings rather than basic bushings, reducing friction and ensuring smooth, consistent operation throughout the servo's range of motion. This engineering choice improves both lifespan and performance reliability.
- Anodised Aluminium Centre Case — The blue-anodised aluminium mid-section is not simply cosmetic. This metal case actively dissipates heat away from the servo motor, keeping it cool during extended crawls and all-day speed sessions. Better cooling means better performance consistency and longer component life.
- Fully Waterproof Design — Traxxas understands the difference between water-resistant and waterproof. This servo is completely sealed, allowing you to power through streams, bogs, mud, and heavy rain without concern. Water-resistant servos are limited to dry conditions; this one gives you freedom to drive anywhere.
- Digital Controller — The servo uses digital signal processing rather than analogue, providing faster response times and more precise position holding. Digital servos maintain their set position more accurately, which is essential for traction control systems like Traxxas Stability Management (TSM).
- TSM Compatibility — The servo works perfectly with Traxxas Stability Management systems fitted to compatible models. TSM uses rapid micro-adjustments to steering to maintain traction and predictability, and this servo responds fast enough to make TSM truly effective.
- Factory Fit Drop-In Installation — The servo uses the standard 25T spline output and fits the servo cavity of most 1/10 scale Traxxas vehicles without modification. This means you can upgrade your steering without custom fabrication or complex modifications.
- 0.19 Second Response Time — At 6.0 volts, the servo reaches a 60-degree position change in just 0.19 seconds, ensuring rapid steering input response that translates to better control precision and faster cornering.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX2250 represents serious engineering. The coreless motor design is particularly significant—traditional RC servos use wound-armature motors with a central core, but coreless construction eliminates the core entirely, reducing motor inertia and allowing for dramatically faster acceleration and deceleration of the output shaft. This translates directly to faster steering response and better control feel. The full metal gearset means all internal gears are steel or aluminium rather than the nylon composite used in budget servos. Under the extreme loads created by 330 ounce-inches of output torque, composite gears would strip or crack; metal gears shrug off this punishment and deliver years of reliable operation. The dual ball bearings supporting the output shaft mean the servo arm rotates with minimal friction, reducing the load on the gears and ensuring smooth motion across the entire range. The anodised aluminium centre case isn't just attractive—it's functional engineering. Aluminium conducts and dissipates heat far more effectively than plastic, keeping the servo's motor cooler during extended use. Cooler motors maintain their performance longer, and thermal stress is eliminated. The servo operates on 6.0 to 7.4 volts DC, with 330 ounce-inches of torque at the standard 6.0-volt input. The digital control system processes signals at a higher frequency than analogue controllers, resulting in smoother, more precise servo movement and faster response to transmitter inputs. This is why digital servos are favoured for high-precision applications like rock crawling and tight technical driving. The lightweight design at just 64 grams means adding this servo to your vehicle doesn't significantly increase rotational mass on the steering system. All these engineering choices combine to create a servo that doesn't just turn your steering wheels—it gives you absolute command over vehicle behaviour in the most demanding conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 330 ounce-inches of torque actually mean? — Torque is measured in ounce-inches, which indicates the force the servo can apply via a one-inch lever. A 330 oz.-in. servo can theoretically lift 330 ounces with a one-inch arm. In practical terms, it means this servo has tremendous steering power—it can muscle heavy vehicles with large, sticky tyres around corners and maintain control under extreme load conditions where standard servos would struggle.
- How does the coreless motor improve performance compared to standard motors? — Standard servo motors have a metal core around which wire is wound. Coreless motors eliminate this core, dramatically reducing rotational inertia. This allows the motor shaft to accelerate and decelerate almost instantly, providing lightning-quick response to steering inputs. You'll feel this as sharper, more immediate steering reaction, which is especially valuable in technical crawling or precision driving.
- Is this servo suitable for all 1/10 scale RC cars and trucks? — This servo is compatible with most 1/10 Traxxas electric models including the Rustler, Slash, Stampede, TRX-4, and Unlimited Desert Racer. It's perfect as an upgrade for vehicles that came with the standard 2075 servo. However, TRX-4 models specifically require the High-Voltage BEC Kit #2262 for power supply. The servo is not recommended for X-Maxx models.
- Do I need special power supply for this servo? — Most 1/10 Traxxas vehicles can power this servo through the standard BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit) of their electronic speed control unit. However, if you're installing it in a TRX-4, you absolutely must use the High-Voltage BEC Kit #2262, as the servo's power demands exceed what the standard TRX-4 power system can provide safely.
- What battery voltage should I use with this servo? — The TRX2250 operates on 6.0 to 7.4 volts DC. It delivers rated torque of 330 oz.-in. at 6 volts. You can run it on either a 2S LiPo battery (7.4 volts nominal) or the standard 5-cell NiMH pack (6.0 volts nominal). Higher voltage will increase torque and speed slightly but may reduce servo lifespan, so running at 6 volts is a good balance.
- Is this servo truly waterproof or just water-resistant? — This servo is completely waterproof, not merely water-resistant. Traxxas makes an important distinction: water-resistant servos can tolerate occasional splashing but will fail if submerged or exposed to heavy water ingress. Waterproof servos are completely sealed internally and can be driven through streams, bogs, and heavy rain without risk of water damage. You can run this servo anywhere, in any weather.
- What's the response time of this servo? — At 6.0 volts, the servo completes a 60-degree movement in 0.19 seconds. This speed is extremely fast—faster than most standard servos—which translates to responsive steering that follows your control inputs with minimal delay.
- Can I use this servo with Traxxas Stability Management (TSM)? — Yes, this servo is fully compatible with TSM. In fact, it works excellently with TSM systems because the fast digital response means it can make the micro-corrections that TSM requires to maintain traction and vehicle stability. The combination of this high-performance servo and TSM creates a vehicle that's much easier to control in challenging conditions.
- How much does this servo weigh? — The TRX2250 weighs just 64 grams, making it very lightweight. This means you won't add significant weight to your steering system, which is important for maintaining vehicle balance and handling characteristics.
- Can I replace the E-Revo's dual servos with a single TRX2250? — Yes. The High-Torque 330 is powerful enough to replace the E-Revo's dual steering servos with a single unit. This modification reduces weight, increases steering torque, and provides lightning-quick steering response. Many E-Revo owners choose this upgrade for serious performance driving.
- How does this compare to the standard 2075 servo? — The TRX2250 delivers over 2.5 times more torque than the standard 2075 servo, meaning it's roughly 2.5 times more powerful. You'll notice noticeably faster turning speed and the ability to steer much heavier vehicles or vehicles with very large, soft tyres. The coreless motor also provides faster response than the 2075's standard motor.
- Is installation difficult? — Installation is straightforward for most models—the servo drops into the standard servo mount with no modification required. The 25T spline output is standard across Traxxas vehicles. However, TRX-4 installation requires the High-Voltage BEC Kit #2262, which involves simple plug-and-play connections. A metal servo horn #8247X is recommended for TRX-4 use to handle the increased torque safely.
