Overview

The FTX Outback Hirock Steering Link (FTX9286) is an essential replacement chassis spare part designed specifically for the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1/10 Trail Rock Crawler. This genuine OEM component is engineered to restore precise steering performance and maintain the handling characteristics your RC crawler depends on for rock crawling adventures. Whether you're a serious trail enthusiast tackling challenging terrain or a weekend RC hobbyist exploring the great outdoors with your 1/10 scale RC crawler, having access to quality replacement parts ensures your vehicle stays in peak condition.

Steering links are critical suspension components that connect your RC car's steering servo to the front wheels, translating servo commands into precise wheel turning angles. A damaged or worn steering link can result in unpredictable handling, poor responsiveness, or inability to achieve full steering lock. The FTX9286 steering link is manufactured to exact OEM specifications, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with your Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 crawler. This makes it an ideal spare for competitive rock crawlers who demand reliability, as well as for casual RC enthusiasts in the UK who want to keep their trail crawlers running smoothly through countless off-road adventures.

RC Model Shop stocks genuine FTX replacement parts and spares to keep your RC car UK collection performing at its best. Whether you're experiencing steering issues, planning a rebuild, or simply building a collection of essential spares, the FTX9286 steering link is an affordable and essential component that every Outback Hi-Rock owner should consider keeping on hand.

Key Features

  • Genuine OEM Component — This is an authentic FTX factory-manufactured steering link, ensuring perfect fitment, durability and performance characteristics identical to the original part installed on your Outback Hi-Rock 4x4. Using genuine spares preserves the engineered handling and steering response of your trail crawler.
  • Precision Engineering — The steering link is manufactured to exacting specifications to deliver accurate steering geometry and smooth articulation, which is essential for navigating technical rock crawling sections where precise wheel positioning determines success.
  • Direct Compatibility — This part is specifically designed and verified to fit the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1/10 Trail Rock Crawler (model FTX5587), eliminating guesswork and ensuring immediate usability without modification or fitment issues.
  • Affordable Spare Part — At a competitive price point, the FTX9286 steering link represents excellent value for maintaining and repairing your RC crawler without excessive expense, making it ideal for keeping a spares box stocked for emergencies on the trail.
  • Chassis Component Quality — As a critical chassis-level component, this steering link undergoes rigorous quality control to withstand the demands of off-road rock crawling, including impacts, jarring terrain, and the constant articulation demands of technical trail courses.

Technical Performance

The FTX Outback Hirock Steering Link is a precision-engineered chassis spare manufactured from durable materials specifically chosen to withstand the demanding environment of 1/10 scale rock crawling. Steering links operate at the interface between the servo control system and the front wheel assembly, making them subject to repeated articulation, impact loads, and steering forces. The FTX9286 maintains exact steering geometry specifications established by FTX engineers to ensure your Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 maintains its legendary rock crawling capabilities. Whether you're navigating boulder-strewn trails, climbing steep rocky inclines, or traversing narrow technical courses that demand precision steering inputs, a properly functioning steering link is non-negotiable. This OEM spare is built to the same standards as the original equipment, utilising materials and manufacturing processes that deliver consistent performance through countless climbing sessions. The steering link connects the servo output directly to the steering knuckle assembly, so its structural integrity and precise geometry are critical to maintaining responsive, accurate steering control. Replacement becomes necessary when the original steering link sustains damage from impacts, rock strikes, or simply wears out from the continuous micro-articulation that occurs during rock crawling. The FTX9286 restores full steering performance and helps maintain the balanced, predictable handling characteristics that make the Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 such a capable trail machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the FTX9286 steering link compatible with my Outback Hi-Rock 4x4? — Yes, this steering link is specifically manufactured as an OEM spare part for the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1/10 Trail Rock Crawler (model FTX5587). It is designed to fit perfectly without modification or adaptation.
  • When should I replace my steering link? — You should consider replacing your steering link if you notice loose or sloppy steering response, visible cracks or bends in the component, inability to achieve full steering lock on either side, or after a significant impact or crash where the steering area was affected. Many RC enthusiasts also keep a spare steering link on hand for trail sessions to avoid being stranded if damage occurs.
  • What is a steering link and why does my RC crawler need one? — A steering link is a mechanical component that transmits steering commands from your servo to the front wheels of your RC car. It connects the servo horn (or control arm) to the steering knuckle on the wheel assembly, converting servo rotation into left and right wheel turning. Without a properly functioning steering link, your RC crawler cannot steer effectively and cannot navigate trails or obstacles that require precision steering control.
  • Is this a genuine FTX part? — Yes, the FTX9286 is a genuine OEM steering link manufactured by FTX to the exact specifications used in the Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 production model. Purchasing genuine parts ensures compatibility, durability, and performance consistency with your RC crawler.
  • Do I need any tools to install this steering link? — The installation difficulty depends on whether you are replacing an existing steering link or assembling new suspension components. Most users will need basic RC tools including hex wrenches and possibly a ball joint removal tool if the old steering link is bonded. Refer to your Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 manual for specific installation instructions and torque specifications.
  • What makes FTX steering links reliable for rock crawling? — FTX designs and manufactures components specifically for the demands of scale rock crawling, where precise steering control is essential for navigating technical terrain. The FTX9286 steering link is engineered from materials and utilising design principles that withstand repeated impacts, steering articulation, and the high loads experienced during off-road trail sessions.
