Overview
The RCO Inner Wheel Weights in brass are essential upgrade components designed specifically for SCX24-scale crawlers and compact RC vehicles. Whether you're a serious RC enthusiast competing in the UK RC community or a weekend basher tackling challenging terrain, these weight inserts offer a proven method to improve your vehicle's handling and performance. By lowering your centre of gravity and distributing mass strategically within your wheels, these brass weights help maximise grip, stability and control on technical terrain including steep climbs, descents and awkward sidehills.
This pack of four brass wheel weights totalling 60 grams (approximately 15 grams per wheel) is engineered to fit seamlessly with the RCO-AX011 5 Spoke Beadlock aluminium 1.0-inch wheels, making them an ideal companion upgrade for your SCX24 Dodge Power Wagon, Jeep JT Gladiator, 2021 Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, or 1967 Chevrolet C10. The brass construction provides superior density compared to plastic or lighter materials, allowing you to achieve the weight distribution you need without requiring oversized wheel packages.
Precision-engineered by RC Overhaul, these inner wheel weights represent a simple yet effective way to fine-tune your small-scale crawler's handling characteristics. For anyone serious about improving their RC car's performance in the UK's challenging terrain, these weights offer tangible benefits that are immediately noticeable during climbs, descents and sidehill traversal.
Key Features
- Brass construction — Brass provides superior weight density compared to plastic alternatives, allowing you to place more mass precisely where it matters most without requiring larger wheel packages or excessive bulk.
- Lowers centre of gravity — By positioning weight internally within the wheels rather than externally, these weights shift your vehicle's centre of gravity lower and closer to the ground, directly improving stability and reducing the likelihood of tipping on sidehills and technical terrain.
- Improves grip and traction — The added rotational mass combined with lower centre of gravity substantially increases grip on climbs and descents, giving you better control and more predictable handling over technical obstacles and steep angles.
- Designed for 1.0-inch compact wheels — With an internal diameter of 24mm and width of 12mm, these weights are engineered specifically for compact SCX24-scale wheels, ensuring perfect fitment and balanced rotation without vibration or imbalance.
- Compatible with RCO-AX011 beadlock wheels — These weights pair perfectly with the recommended RC Overhaul 5 Spoke Beadlock aluminium 1.0-inch wheels, creating an integrated system optimised for small-scale crawler performance.
- Pack of four units — One weight for each wheel ensures balanced mass distribution across your entire vehicle, maintaining steering response and handling predictability.
- Fine-tunes handling characteristics — By adjusting weight placement, you can experiment with different combinations of these weights to dial in your vehicle's handling for specific terrain types and driving conditions, making them invaluable for anyone wanting to optimise their ready to run RC crawler setup.
- Enables steeper climbs and controlled descents — The improved weight distribution and lowered centre of gravity make it possible to negotiate taller angles on climbs and descend steeper inclines with confidence and control that would be impossible with stock wheel setups.
Technical Performance
These brass inner wheel weights are engineered with precision manufacturing to deliver consistent performance across all four wheels. Weighing 60 grams in total with each weight contributing approximately 15 grams per wheel, the weights are carefully balanced to ensure smooth rotation without vibration. The brass material selection is critical to the design's success — brass offers superior density compared to plastic or aluminium alternatives, allowing a relatively small package to deliver substantial weight where needed. With an internal diameter of 24mm and width of 12mm, these weights are dimensionally optimised to fit within compact 1.0-inch wheel designs used on SCX24-scale vehicles without interfering with braking systems, suspension components or wheel rotation. The design principle is rooted in fundamental vehicle dynamics: lower centre of gravity directly correlates with improved stability on sidehills, better grip during climbs where weight must be distributed to maximise tyre contact, and safer, more controlled descents where weight placement prevents the vehicle from pitching forward excessively. For UK RC enthusiasts running SCX24 crawlers on demanding terrain ranging from rocky hillsides to technical garden courses, these weights provide engineering-level performance improvements that are immediately noticeable and genuinely transformative for vehicle handling.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these brass wheel weights fit my original SCX24 wheels or do I need to upgrade to beadlock wheels? — These weights are specifically designed with internal dimensions of 24mm diameter and 12mm width to fit within compact 1.0-inch wheels. The manufacturer recommends pairing them with the RCO-AX011 5 Spoke Beadlock aluminium wheels. You will need beadlock wheels to use these weights properly; they cannot be fitted to standard open-centre wheels.
- How much weight do these inner wheel weights add and will that slow down my RC car? — The pack contains 60 grams total weight (15 grams per wheel). For a small-scale SCX24 crawler where weight placement and centre of gravity matter far more than absolute weight, this addition actually improves performance by lowering your vehicle's centre of gravity and improving stability. The weight is distributed at wheel level where rotational inertia is less problematic than adding weight to the chassis.
- What is the benefit of brass compared to plastic wheel weights? — Brass offers superior density, meaning you can achieve the weight and mass distribution you need without requiring larger wheel packages or adding bulk to your vehicle. Brass is also more durable and resistant to wear over extended use and repeated terrain impacts typical in UK RC crawling.
- Are these suitable for beginners or only for experienced RC enthusiasts? — These weights are suitable for any RC crawler owner who wants to improve their vehicle's handling. Installation is straightforward — you simply insert them into compatible beadlock wheels. Beginners will immediately notice improved stability and grip, whilst experienced racers can use them to fine-tune handling for specific terrain types. They're an accessible upgrade that delivers noticeable performance gains for anyone running SCX24-scale vehicles.
- Can I use different quantities of these weights or mix and match with other weight types? — Yes, you can experiment with using different quantities of these weights in different wheels to tune handling characteristics for specific conditions. You could use all four in a balanced setup, or use fewer weights if you prefer lighter handling. However, always maintain balanced weight distribution across wheels to prevent steering issues.
- How do these weights compare to adding weight to the chassis? — Wheel weights are superior to chassis weight because they lower your centre of gravity more effectively and improve rotational characteristics. Placing weight at wheel level rather than the chassis creates better weight distribution for climbing, descending and sidehill traversal — the core challenges for scale crawlers on technical UK terrain.
