Technical Performance
The Spektrum 3536-1030Kv 14-Pole Brushless Outrunner Motor is engineered with precision construction standards that define modern brushless motor technology. The 3536 size classification provides a well-established platform within the RC community, with extensive compatibility across different ESC (electronic speed controller) options and power systems. The 1030Kv rating indicates this motor is designed to rotate at approximately 1030 revolutions per minute for every volt applied, making it suitable for applications requiring moderate to high speeds with reasonable torque characteristics. The 14-pole configuration enhances the motor's efficiency and smoothness of operation, resulting in reduced cogging and more linear throttle response compared to motors with fewer poles. This motor operates on brushless principles, utilising electronic commutation rather than mechanical brushes, which significantly reduces heat generation and extends operational life. The brushless design makes this motor compatible with modern lithium polymer (LiPo) battery systems commonly used in UK RC racing and recreational flying, though specific battery voltage and capacity requirements will depend on your particular aircraft or vehicle configuration. The motor's efficiency and build quality make it an excellent foundation for custom RC builds where performance and reliability are paramount. Whether you're upgrading an existing model or building from scratch, this brushless outrunner provides the engineering excellence expected from Spektrum components across all UK RC applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the 1030Kv rating and how does it affect motor performance? — The Kv (killovolt) rating of 1030 indicates that the motor will spin at approximately 1030 RPM for every volt of electrical potential applied to it. This mid-range Kv value makes the motor suitable for applications requiring a balance between torque and speed. Higher Kv motors spin faster but produce less torque, whilst lower Kv motors produce more torque but spin slower. The 1030Kv rating on this Spektrum motor makes it versatile across different RC vehicle types and configurations, though your actual RPM will depend on the voltage of your battery system (2S, 3S, 4S LiPo, etc.) and your specific application demands.
- What does the 14-pole configuration mean? — The 14-pole design refers to the number of magnetic poles in the motor's construction. More poles generally result in smoother operation, reduced vibration, and improved efficiency compared to motors with fewer poles. The 14-pole configuration in this Spektrum motor ensures smooth acceleration and deceleration characteristics, making it suitable for both racing applications requiring precise control and recreational use where smooth power delivery is desirable.
- Is this motor suitable for beginners? — This brushless outrunner motor is best suited for builders with some experience in RC systems rather than complete beginners. Since the motor is sold separately without integrated electronics or mounting hardware, you'll need to source a compatible ESC, battery system, and mounting components. However, if you have previous experience with brushless RC motors and understand ESC compatibility, voltage requirements, and motor mounting principles, this Spektrum motor is an excellent choice for custom builds. Beginners might prefer ready-to-run (RTR) RC models that come with all components pre-installed and tested.
- What ESC does this motor require? — The 3536-1030Kv motor is compatible with electronic speed controllers designed for brushless outrunner motors. You'll need to select an ESC with appropriate current rating based on your specific application (whether you're building an RC aircraft, car, or other vehicle type) and your chosen battery voltage. The motor's specifications don't mandate a specific ESC model, giving you flexibility to choose from various Spektrum or third-party ESC options that match your power requirements and feature preferences.
- What battery voltage should I use with this motor? — Whilst the source materials don't specify exact battery voltage requirements, the 1030Kv rating indicates this motor is designed for brushless LiPo battery systems commonly available in the UK RC market. The appropriate voltage will depend on your specific application and the motor's intended use. A qualified RC specialist at RC Model Shop can help you select the correct battery voltage and capacity based on your particular build requirements.
- How does this motor compare to other Spektrum brushless motors? — Spektrum manufactures several brushless outrunner motors in different sizes with varying Kv ratings. The 3536-1030Kv is a mid-sized motor with a mid-range Kv specification, making it versatile across different RC platforms. Smaller motors with higher Kv ratings will spin faster with less torque, whilst larger motors with lower Kv ratings produce more torque but spin slower. The 3536 size and 1030Kv rating position this motor as an excellent choice for builders seeking balanced performance across multiple application types.
- Why choose a brushless motor over a brushed motor? — Brushless motors offer significant advantages over traditional brushed motors, including longer operational lifespan (no carbon brush wear), improved efficiency (less wasted energy as heat), smoother operation (reduced vibration and cogging), and lower maintenance requirements. These benefits make brushless motors the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand performance and reliability from their equipment.
