Key Features

  • Machined Aluminium Construction — These rear hubs are precision-machined from aluminium rather than moulded plastic, providing substantially increased strength and durability for harder bashing sessions and more demanding driving conditions. The material selection ensures your hubs can withstand the repeated impacts and stresses that come with enthusiastic off-road use.
  • Anodised Red Finish — The professional anodised red coating not only protects the aluminium from corrosion and wear, but also matches the factory accents and design cues already present on your Arrma GROM, creating a cohesive and purposeful appearance that looks like it came from the factory as part of the original design.
  • Direct Stock Replacement — These hubs are specifically designed to replace the original moulded plastic items that come fitted to the GROM, meaning no modifications, adaptations, or additional components are required for installation—simply remove the old hubs and fit the new ones.
  • RC Overhaul Quality Assurance — RC Overhaul is a recognised manufacturer of quality aftermarket components for popular RC models, and these hubs carry their reputation for precision engineering and reliability, with the model number G-RCO-AR022R ensuring you're purchasing the genuine article.
  • Enhanced Bash-Ability — By upgrading to aluminium hubs, you're making a fundamental improvement to your vehicle's structural integrity at a critical load point, which means you can drive with confidence knowing that your rear end is built to handle the punishment that comes with serious off-road bashing.

Technical Performance

These machined aluminium rear hubs represent a significant materials upgrade from the standard plastic components. Aluminium offers superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to moulded plastic, meaning your GROM benefits from enhanced durability without any penalty to performance or handling. The precision machining process ensures that these hubs are manufactured to tight tolerances, providing perfect fitment and alignment with your existing drivetrain components. The anodised finish is not merely cosmetic—anodising creates a protective oxide layer on the aluminium surface that resists corrosion, prevents oxidation, and provides a durable barrier against the dirt, mud, water, and impact damage that your RC car encounters during regular use. Installation is straightforward, as these hubs are engineered as direct replacements for the 1/18 Grom's original components. RC Model Shop recommends that you apply thread lock to the fixing screws during installation to prevent them from loosening during use, particularly if you plan to engage in harder bashing or racing activities where vibration and repeated impacts could cause fasteners to vibrate free without proper locking compound.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these aluminium rear hubs fit my Arrma GROM? — Yes, these RC Overhaul rear hubs (part number G-RCO-AR022R) are specifically designed as direct replacements for the stock moulded plastic hubs on the Arrma GROM 1/18 scale vehicle. No modifications or additional components are required—they simply swap in place of the original parts.
  • What is the difference between plastic and aluminium hubs for RC cars? — Plastic hubs, while adequate for casual driving, can crack, break, or deform under hard impacts and repeated stress. Aluminium hubs like these offer dramatically improved durability and strength, allowing you to drive harder and bash more aggressively without fear of component failure. Additionally, the anodised finish on aluminium hubs provides better corrosion resistance and a more premium appearance.
  • How difficult are these to install on my RC car UK setup? — Installation is very straightforward—these are direct replacements that simply bolt in place of your existing hubs. You'll need basic hand tools to remove the old hubs and fit the new ones. RC Model Shop recommends applying thread lock compound to the fixing screws to prevent them from loosening during use, which is a simple extra precaution that significantly improves reliability.
  • Are these rear hubs compatible with other GROM variants? — According to RC Overhaul's specifications, these hubs are designed for the Arrma GROM 1/18 scale platform. If you own other GROM variants such as the Typhon GROM, Mojave GROM, Gorgon GROM, or Quake GROM, please verify compatibility with our team before purchasing, as fitment may vary across different model variants.
  • Will upgrading to aluminium hubs improve my GROM's performance? — While these hubs don't increase speed or power, they provide a tangible improvement in durability and reliability, which means your vehicle can be driven harder and longer without component failure. In practical terms, this translates to more enjoyable bashing sessions without worrying about breaking your hubs.
  • What does anodised mean and why is it important? — Anodising is an electrochemical process that creates a protective oxide layer on the aluminium surface. This process makes the hubs more resistant to corrosion, prevents oxidation, and creates a harder, more durable surface that better resists scratches and wear. The red anodised finish on these hubs means they'll maintain their appearance longer and resist damage from mud, water, and dirt exposure.
  • Why do I need thread lock for the fixing screws? — During aggressive bashing, vibration and repeated impacts can cause fasteners to gradually loosen and potentially fall out. Thread lock compound prevents this by creating a permanent bond between the bolt and the threaded hole, ensuring your hubs remain securely fastened throughout all your driving sessions.
