Overview

The Axial Oil Shock Set 6mm is an essential suspension upgrade for owners of 1/24 scale SCX24 RC rock crawlers and off-road vehicles. These professional-grade oil-damped shocks are engineered to deliver superior handling, improved ride quality, and enhanced control across diverse terrain. Whether you're navigating rocky trails, tackling steep inclines, or exploring technical crawling courses, this shock set provides the performance characteristics serious enthusiasts demand from their ready to run RC cars and crawlers.

Designed specifically for the Axial SCX24 platform, this four-piece shock set offers a direct bolt-on upgrade that significantly improves suspension responsiveness compared to standard assembled shocks. The red springs deliver a spring rate of 0.213 lbs/in, perfectly calibrated for the SCX24's weight distribution and intended use. This makes the Oil Shock Set an ideal choice for UK RC enthusiasts looking to extract maximum performance from their 1/24 scale rock crawler without the complexity of full vehicle rebuilds.

Compatible with a comprehensive range of Axial SCX24 variants including the Chevrolet C10 4WD Truck, Lexus GX 470, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler JLU, Dodge Power Wagon, and Jeep Gladiator models, this shock set represents a universal solution for SCX24 owners seeking suspension refinement. The oil-damping technology absorbs impacts more effectively than dry friction alone, translating to smoother driving dynamics and improved traction maintenance during aggressive manoeuvres.

Key Features

  • Oil-Damped Design — Oil shock technology provides consistent damping characteristics across varying driving conditions, ensuring predictable handling whether you're tackling slow technical crawls or faster trail runs, making it more reliable than friction-based shock systems.
  • 6mm Bore Size — The 6mm shock body diameter is optimised for 1/24 scale vehicles, delivering the correct balance between strength and lightweight construction for the SCX24 platform without adding unnecessary unsprung weight.
  • 0.213 lbs/in Red Springs — The red spring rate is specifically engineered for SCX24 rock crawlers, providing the ideal suspension compliance for climbing obstacles, maintaining ground contact, and absorbing terrain impacts with consistent performance.
  • Four-Piece Set — This complete set includes shocks for all four corners of your SCX24, ensuring balanced suspension geometry and uniform damping across the entire vehicle for predictable handling characteristics.
  • Direct SCX24 Compatibility — Engineered as a genuine Axial accessory, these shocks integrate seamlessly with SCX24 suspension geometry without modification, offering plug-and-play installation for busy enthusiasts.
  • Professional-Grade Performance — The oil-damped construction represents a significant step up from basic assembled shocks, delivering the handling precision expected by competitive crawlers and dedicated hobby pilots exploring technical terrain.

Technical Performance

The Axial Oil Shock Set represents a serious upgrade path for SCX24 owners seeking measurable improvements in suspension response and terrain adaptability. Oil-damped shocks deliver superior performance compared to dry friction damping systems because the oil provides consistent resistance across temperature ranges and driving intensities. The 6mm bore diameter is perfectly proportioned for 1/24 scale applications, striking the crucial balance between structural rigidity and minimal unsprung mass. With a spring rate of 0.213 lbs/in, these red springs have been specifically calibrated during Axial's development process to match the SCX24's intended weight distribution and climbing characteristics. The four-piece configuration ensures all suspension corners receive matching damping characteristics, preventing the handling imbalances that occur when vehicles run mixed shock types. Installation is straightforward for users familiar with basic RC maintenance, requiring only standard RC tools and basic mechanical knowledge. The engineering approach prioritises practical performance gains relevant to UK-based rock crawling and trail exploration activities rather than theoretical specifications, meaning real-world improvement becomes immediately apparent during driving sessions.

What's in the Box

  • Four pre-assembled oil shocks with 6mm bore diameter
  • Red springs rated at 0.213 lbs/in
  • All necessary components for complete four-corner installation

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between oil shocks and standard assembled shocks for SCX24 rock crawlers? — Oil shocks provide consistent damping through hydraulic fluid resistance, delivering more predictable handling and better terrain feedback than basic dry shocks. The damping remains stable across temperature changes and varying driving intensities, crucial when tackling technical obstacles or extended trail sessions in UK conditions.
  • Will these shocks fit my specific SCX24 model? — Yes, this shock set is compatible with all Axial 1/24 SCX24 variants including the Chevrolet C10, Lexus GX 470, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler JLU, Dodge Power Wagon, and Jeep Gladiator models. The 6mm bore size is standard across the entire SCX24 platform.
  • What does the 0.213 lbs/in spring rate mean for my driving experience? — The spring rate indicates suspension stiffness; 0.213 lbs/in represents a relatively soft spring designed specifically for rock crawling applications. This softer rate maintains ground contact over obstacles, improves climbing ability, and helps the vehicle articulate across technical terrain better than stiffer springs.
  • Are these shocks suitable for beginners upgrading from stock suspension? — Yes, these shocks offer a straightforward upgrade path for any SCX24 owner regardless of experience level. Installation requires only basic RC knowledge, and the performance improvement is immediately noticeable during normal off-road driving and crawling activities.
  • How do oil shocks compare to other upgrade options available for SCX24 vehicles? — Oil shocks represent the most direct performance upgrade for SCX24 suspension, delivering improved damping consistency without requiring chassis modifications or complex tuning procedures. They're ideal for enthusiasts seeking measurable handling improvements without the investment required by full suspension overhauls.
