The combination of high capacity, hard-case protection, Deans connector reliability, and competitive pricing makes it an ideal fit for racers, casual drivers, and anyone looking for a dependable, well-protected power source for their 1/10 scale RC car or buggy.
Key Features
- 5300 mAh High-Capacity Design — With 5300 milliamp-hours of capacity, this battery provides extended run times that allow you to enjoy longer driving sessions without frequent battery swaps, meaning more time on the track or bashing course and less time waiting for recharges.
- 2S 7.4V Configuration — The 2-cell (2S1P) configuration delivers 7.4 volts nominal, a voltage sweet spot for 1/8 to 1/10 scale RC cars, buggies, and trucks that offers reliable performance across a wide range of ESC and motor combinations without overpowering delicate electronics.
- 30C Continuous / 55C Burst Discharge Rating — The 30C continuous rating handles sustained power delivery during extended driving sessions, whilst the 55C burst rate ensures your RC model responds swiftly to throttle input during acceleration and performance driving without suffering voltage sag or power loss at critical moments.
- Hard-Case Shell Protection — Unlike traditional shrink-wrap soft-pack batteries, the integrated hard case provides genuine structural protection against the impacts, vibrations, and environmental hazards encountered during RC driving, protecting both the internal cells and connector wiring from damage and extending battery lifespan.
- Deans T-Plug Connector — The industry-standard Deans connector ensures reliable, high-current power delivery with minimal resistance, providing secure connections and efficient energy transfer to your RC model's ESC and drivetrain without the loose connections or power loss that can occur with inferior connectors.
- JST-XH Balance Connector — The included balance plug allows safe, precise cell balancing using any compatible LiPo balance charger, ensuring both cells in the 2S pack remain at equal charge levels and maximising battery lifespan and performance consistency across multiple charge cycles.
- 259g Weight — The approximately 259-gram weight is substantial enough to provide good power delivery whilst remaining manageable for 1/10 scale RC vehicles, contributing to improved traction and weight distribution in models like the HPI RS4 Sport 3 Flux and similar short-course trucks.
- Compact Stick Format Dimensions — Measuring approximately 139 × 47 × 26mm, the rectangular stick format fits efficiently into many modern RC car battery trays, though owners should verify clearances with their specific model as the hard case is slightly thicker than soft-pack alternatives and may not fit traditional curved Tamiya battery compartments.
Technical Performance
The Overlander 5300 mAh 2S 7.4 V battery represents a thoughtful balance between raw power output and practical reliability. The 30C continuous discharge rating means this pack can safely deliver 159 amps continuously (5.3Ah × 30C = 159A), making it well-suited to high-performance brushless ESC installations in 1/10 scale RC cars and buggies, whilst the 55C burst rating (291.5 amps maximum) provides the responsiveness needed for competitive racing and aggressive driving without thermal stress or voltage collapse. This dual-rating approach is particularly important for RC vehicles where steady power is needed during cruising and cornering, but sudden bursts are required for acceleration and jumps. The 7.4V nominal voltage (8.4V when fully charged) is optimised for modern brushless ESC and motor combinations, avoiding the voltage sag issues that can occur with lower-capacity packs. The hard-case shell is constructed from durable plastic that absorbs impacts without crushing or deforming, a critical advantage when your RC car encounters kerbs, stones, and rough terrain during intensive UK driving sessions. Real-world testing from customers confirms impressive performance, with users reporting approximately one and a half hours of continuous driving on a single charge in appropriate models like the TRX4, and battery degradation is minimal even after years of regular use, with packs continuing to deliver full power and voltage stability after 24 months or more of service. The JST-XH balance connector uses industry-standard pinouts, ensuring compatibility with virtually all modern LiPo balance chargers and balancing systems available in the UK market.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Overlander 5300 mAh 2S LiPo suitable for beginners to RC cars in the UK? — Yes, this battery is suitable for beginners provided they understand LiPo safety fundamentals including proper charging, storage, and handling. The 2S configuration is forgiving and won't overpower entry-level ESC systems. However, beginners must invest in a quality LiPo charger and understand balanced charging before use. If you're new to LiPo batteries, we recommend speaking with our team at RC Model Shop for guidance on safe setup and operation.
- Will this battery fit my specific RC car model? — The rectangular hard-case stick format fits most modern 1/10 scale RC cars and buggies including HPI Sport 3 Flux models, HPI Savage XS Flux vehicles, and FTX Zorro Trophy Trucks. However, it will not fit traditional Tamiya curved battery trays due to its rectangular shape and slightly increased thickness compared to soft-pack batteries. Users of models like the Tamiya DT03 report good fitment. Always verify that your model's battery compartment has adequate clearance for the 139 × 47 × 26mm dimensions before purchase.
- What is the difference between the 30C and 55C ratings on this battery? — The 30C rating is the continuous discharge rate, representing the safe sustained current the battery can deliver indefinitely without thermal issues — this is the everyday, normal operating rating. The 55C rating is the burst discharge rate, representing the peak current the battery can deliver for short bursts lasting seconds, such as during hard acceleration or jumps. In practical use, your RC model will operate within the 30C continuous rating under normal driving, but momentarily tap into the 55C capability during aggressive driving. Both ratings are safe under normal operation; the burst rating simply indicates the battery's capability to handle peak demands without voltage sag.
- How long will this battery last per charge on my RC car? — Real-world run time depends heavily on your specific RC model, driving style, terrain, and motor/ESC configuration. Customer reports indicate approximately 1.5 hours of continuous driving on models like the TRX4, though lighter vehicles or more aggressive driving may consume the battery faster. A 5300 mAh pack is considered high-capacity for 1/10 scale models, so extended run times are realistic. For precise estimates, consult your RC model's documentation or speak with our team.
- Can I use this battery in multiple RC cars? — Absolutely. The Deans connector is industry-standard, so this battery will work with any RC car, buggy, or truck equipped with a compatible Deans connector socket. Many UK RC enthusiasts maintain one or two quality batteries and swap them between multiple models. However, always verify voltage compatibility (7.4V nominal for 2S packs) before use in a different model.
- What is the expected lifespan of the Overlander 5300 mAh battery? — With proper care including balanced charging, appropriate storage at 3.8-3.85V per cell when not in use, and safe handling, these batteries consistently perform well for two years or longer. Customer reports confirm batteries delivering full performance and voltage stability after 24+ months of regular use. Lifespan depends on the number of charge cycles, storage conditions, and whether the battery has been exposed to physical damage or extreme temperatures.
- Do I need a special charger for this 2S LiPo battery? — Yes, you must use a dedicated LiPo battery charger capable of handling 2S packs with balance charging functionality. Standard RC NiMH chargers or car phone chargers will not work and may damage the battery or create safety hazards. Ensure any charger you purchase supports the Deans connector type or invest in appropriate adapters.
