Key Features
- High-quality anodised aluminium shock bodies — The shock bodies are machined from premium anodised aluminium, which provides excellent corrosion resistance and a professional finish. This material choice means your shocks will maintain their performance characteristics over extended use and won't degrade from exposure to water or salt spray during outdoor RC sessions in the UK.
- Anodised aluminium shock caps and seal caps — Every detail has been engineered for durability and reliability. The anodised finish protects against wear and corrosion, whilst the precision-fitted seal caps prevent shock oil leakage during aggressive driving or accidental impacts.
- Strong 4mm stainless steel shock shafts — The shock shafts are manufactured from premium stainless steel at a substantial 4mm diameter, delivering long-lasting durability even under extreme loads. This robust construction resists bending and ensures your shocks maintain consistent performance lap after lap, whether you're racing at the track or bashing in the park.
- Tough composite shock rod ends and spring retainers — Rather than relying on plastic components that can crack or wear prematurely, ARRMA has engineered durable composite rod ends and spring retainers. These components withstand repeated impacts and suspension travel whilst maintaining precise alignment for consistent handling characteristics.
- Pre-filled with 1300cSt silicone shock oil — These shocks arrive pre-filled with high-quality 1300cSt silicone shock oil, specifically formulated for optimal damping performance. The viscosity rating directly affects how the suspension responds to bumps and compressions, and this 1300cSt specification is calibrated for balanced handling across a wide range of driving conditions.
- Supplied fully assembled — No disassembly or complex setup required. These shocks are factory-assembled and tested, meaning you can proceed directly to installation on your vehicle. This saves time for weekend warriors who want to get driving rather than spending hours on shock assembly.
- Ready to bolt on after spring fitting — Once you've selected and fitted your preferred spring rate, these shocks bolt directly onto your suspension mounts. The pre-assembled design ensures consistent performance characteristics right out of the box without requiring individual component sourcing or assembly expertise.
- Shock boots included for shaft protection — Protective shock boots are included in this set, designed to shield the shock shafts from dirt, mud and water ingress during outdoor driving. These boots extend the lifespan of your shocks by preventing contamination of the internal seals and damping fluid.
- 134mm shock length specification — The 134mm length is a precision measurement that affects your vehicle's ride height, anti-squat characteristics and overall suspension geometry. This particular length is engineered for vehicles that require this specific suspension stroke, ensuring proper clearance and handling balance.
- 8x1.3 piston specification — The 8mm diameter piston with 1.3mm bore holes is a critical component affecting suspension response. This piston size determines how shock fluid flows through the damping circuit, directly influencing whether your suspension feels plush and forgiving or responsive and direct. ARRMA's engineering ensures the optimal balance for performance driving.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Shock Set delivers professional-grade suspension performance through meticulous engineering and material selection. The combination of anodised aluminium bodies with stainless steel 4mm shafts creates a suspension component that resists corrosion whilst maintaining structural integrity even under extreme load conditions common in RC racing and bashing. The 1300cSt silicone shock oil provides the precise damping curve needed for responsive handling without excessive harshness, making these shocks equally at home on a race track, rugged off-road terrain or casual park bashing. The 134mm length and 8x1.3 piston specification work together to deliver the stroke and flow characteristics necessary for vehicles requiring this damping profile. Pre-filled and factory-assembled, these shocks represent genuine quality engineering that demands respect from the UK RC community. The composite rod ends and spring retainers absorb impact energy without compromising precision, whilst the included shock boots protect internal components from environmental contamination during extended driving sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicle compatibility does this ARRMA shock set offer? — These shocks are engineered for the ARRMA ARA7612 1/7 BIG ROCK 6S 4x4 RTR Brushless Monster Truck as standard fitment. However, the 134mm length and 8x1.3 piston specification may be compatible with other vehicles in ARRMA's range that require this particular shock geometry. We recommend checking your vehicle's suspension specifications before purchase, or contacting our team at RC Model Shop for detailed fitment confirmation.
- Why would I upgrade to these OEM ARRMA shocks rather than keeping the stock shocks? — Factory original equipment manufacturer shocks like this set represent the engineering knowledge ARRMA has accumulated through racing and testing. They're assembled under controlled factory conditions with precise quality control, whereas stock components may have wider manufacturing tolerances. Upgrading provides more consistent performance, better durability and the confidence that your suspension is tuned to the vehicle's geometry.
- Are these shocks suitable for beginners? — Yes, these shocks are suitable for RC enthusiasts of any experience level, though you'll need basic mechanical knowledge to fit them to your vehicle. The shocks arrive pre-assembled and filled, eliminating complex shock building. However, you'll need to select appropriate springs separately and understand basic suspension geometry. Beginners should feel confident fitting these shocks, but may want guidance on spring selection for their particular driving style.
- What does 1300cSt shock oil mean, and why does it matter? — The cSt (centistoke) measurement describes the viscosity or thickness of the shock oil. Higher numbers like 1300cSt mean thicker oil that provides more damping resistance, creating a stiffer suspension feel. This 1300cSt specification is calibrated for balanced performance across typical driving conditions, resisting bottoming-out whilst still allowing quick suspension response. Different viscosity oils are available for fine-tuning, but this factory specification represents ARRMA's recommended baseline.
- Can I use different viscosity shock oil in these shocks? — Yes, once you have experience with these shocks, you can experiment with different oil viscosities. Thinner oils (lower cSt ratings) create softer, more compliant suspension ideal for rough terrain. Thicker oils (higher cSt ratings) create stiffer suspension for high-speed driving or racing. The 1300cSt factory fill is an excellent starting point, and many UK RC enthusiasts keep additional oils on hand for track-specific tuning.
- What makes the 4mm stainless steel shafts better than standard options? — The 4mm diameter stainless steel shaft represents a significant upgrade in structural rigidity compared to thinner shaft alternatives. Thicker shafts resist bending under extreme cornering or impact loads, maintaining precise alignment that directly translates to consistent handling characteristics. Stainless steel resists corrosion from water exposure, essential for UK RC drivers who may encounter wet conditions or damp storage environments.
- Are shock boots really necessary, or are they just included extras? — Shock boots are genuinely important protective components, not afterthoughts. They shield the shock shaft from mud, water and debris that would otherwise contaminate the internal damping fluid and degrade seal integrity. Over extended use without boots, your shocks will lose performance as seals deteriorate. The included boots make a measurable difference to shock longevity, particularly for UK drivers who regularly encounter wet or muddy terrain.
- What springs should I pair with these shocks? — Spring selection depends entirely on your vehicle's weight, desired ride height and your driving style. Softer springs (lower spring rates) create a more compliant, comfortable ride ideal for bashing and rough terrain. Stiffer springs create better body control for racing and high-speed driving. Check your vehicle's manual for compatible spring specifications, or consult our RC Model Shop team who can recommend ideal spring combinations for your specific use case.
- How long do these shocks typically last with regular use? — The premium materials and factory assembly mean these shocks will deliver reliable performance through many seasons of regular use. Stainless steel shafts resist bending, anodised aluminium resists corrosion, and the sealed design protects internal components. However, longevity depends on driving intensity and maintenance. Regularly inspect seals for leakage and clean shocks after wet conditions to maximise lifespan. When shock oil eventually thickens with age or contamination, re-oiling extends life considerably.
