Overview

The Axial Knuckle Weights, Brass (4) represent a sophisticated tuning solution for serious RC crawler enthusiasts in the UK who demand precision performance from their 1/24 scale machines. These bolt-on brass weights are engineered to optimise the handling characteristics of your SCX24 or AX24 crawler, making them an essential upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their RC car's capabilities on technical terrain. Whether you're a seasoned RC hobby competitor or a dedicated weekend basher, these weight additions deliver measurable improvements in stability, traction and hill-climbing performance that will transform how your miniature rock crawler performs.

Sold as a comprehensive set of four weights in two distinct sizes, these weights offer versatility through multiple configuration options. The inclusion of two weights at 9.2g and two at 5.2g means you can experiment with different combinations to find the perfect balance for your specific driving style and track conditions. For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to fine-tune their SCX24 or AX24 models, these brass knuckle weights provide the precision adjustment tool needed to achieve competitive advantage and superior handling across varied terrain.

The engineering philosophy behind these weights is sound: by placing mass in the knuckle area, you lower your rig's centre of gravity whilst simultaneously moving weight away from the chassis centre. This dual benefit creates a noticeable improvement in how your ready-to-run RC crawler performs on side hills and challenging rock crawling scenarios. If you're serious about maximising your SCX24 or AX24's potential, these tuning weights are a proven performance upgrade.

Key Features

  • Dual Weight Configuration — The set includes two weights at 9.2g and two at 5.2g, allowing you to choose from multiple weight combinations depending on your terrain and driving preferences, giving you complete control over your rig's balance characteristics.
  • Premium Brass Construction — Manufactured from durable brass material, these weights are machined to precision tolerances and engineered to resist corrosion and wear, ensuring long-lasting performance across extended RC sessions.
  • Bolt-On Installation — These weights attach directly via bolts to your existing knuckles, making installation straightforward for RC owners of any experience level without requiring extensive modifications to your crawler.
  • Lower Centre of Gravity — By positioning weight in the knuckle area rather than the chassis centre, these additions reduce your rig's overall centre of gravity, which directly improves stability and traction on slopes and technical rock crawling sections.
  • Enhanced Side Hill Capability — The strategic weight placement far from the chassis centre dramatically increases your SCX24 or AX24's ability to maintain traction and control on steep side hills, a critical advantage in competitive rock crawling.
  • Increased Overall Stability — The combination of lower centre of gravity and optimised weight distribution makes your entire rig more stable, reducing tip-overs and improving predictability across variable terrain.
  • Works with Brass Knuckles — These weights are specifically designed to function with optional brass knuckles, creating a complete upgraded knuckle assembly system for maximum performance tuning.
  • SCX24 and AX24 Compatibility — Engineered to fit both the Axial SCX24 and AX24 platforms, these weights work across the entire range of these popular 1/24 scale crawlers, from stock RTR models to extensively modified builds.

Technical Performance

These Axial Knuckle Weights represent precision engineering at the 1/24 scale, crafted from high-quality brass that combines density with durability. The dual-weight system (9.2g and 5.2g) allows for granular performance tuning; experienced RC enthusiasts can adjust weight distribution to match different driving conditions, whether tackling extreme rock crawling challenges or maintaining balanced performance on mixed terrain. The machined brass construction ensures consistent weight distribution without the brittleness associated with cheaper alternatives. Installation requires the AXI302003 knuckle upgrade, but once fitted, these weights integrate seamlessly into your SCX24 or AX24's suspension geometry. The physics behind their effectiveness is straightforward: by moving mass away from the chassis centrepoint and lowering overall centre of gravity, your crawler's moment of inertia changes favourably, reducing body roll and improving cornering grip. On side-hill situations—a critical rock crawling scenario—this translates to noticeably improved traction and reduced likelihood of rollover. The weight placement in the knuckle area, the furthest practical point from the chassis centre on a 1/24 scale crawler, maximises the stabilising effect whilst keeping unsprung weight at an acceptable level. This is engineering that works: testing by RC enthusiasts across the UK has consistently shown improved performance on technical terrain when these weights are properly configured.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do these knuckle weights work on any SCX24 or AX24 crawler? — Yes, these weights are designed for compatibility across the full range of SCX24 and AX24 models, including all RTR variants like the Jeep Wrangler JLU, Chevrolet C10, Lexus GX 470, Base Camp, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Dodge Power Wagon and Jeep Gladiator, as well as the AX24 XC-1. They will work on any condition of these crawlers, whether factory standard or heavily modified.
  • What is the AXI302003 and why do I need it? — The AXI302003 is the knuckle upgrade assembly required for proper installation of these weights. These weights bolt onto knuckles, and the AXI302003 provides the necessary mounting points and structure. You will need to purchase this separately as it is not included in the weight set.
  • Can I use all four weights at once or just some? — You have complete flexibility. The set includes two 9.2g weights and two 5.2g weights, allowing you to run any combination: all four (total 28.8g), just the two heavier weights, just the two lighter weights, or one of each. Different combinations will produce different handling characteristics, so you can experiment to find what works best for your terrain and driving style.
  • Will these weights improve my crawler's performance on rock obstacles? — Yes. By lowering your rig's centre of gravity and improving overall stability through optimised weight distribution, these weights make your crawler more planted and composed when climbing rocks and obstacles. The improved traction and reduced body roll translate directly to better obstacle-clearing ability.
  • Are brass weights better than other materials? — Brass offers an excellent combination of density (meaning significant weight in a compact form), corrosion resistance (important for RC models exposed to outdoor conditions), and durability. Brass weights maintain consistent performance through extended use without degrading like plastic or corroding like mild steel.
  • How much do these weights cost compared to alternatives? — At our current price of £29.49 (RRP £32.50), these Axial Knuckle Weights represent outstanding value for precision brass tuning components. They are genuine Axial parts engineered specifically for SCX24 and AX24 crawlers, ensuring perfect fit and reliable performance.
  • Will adding weight slow down my crawler? — Weight typically increases traction and stability but may slightly reduce acceleration. However, for rock crawling and technical terrain driving, the improved traction and reduced tip-overs far outweigh any minimal speed reduction. These weights are tuning components for performance enhancement, not speed enhancement.
  • Can I use these weights with stock knuckles? — No, these weights require the AXI302003 knuckle upgrade for proper installation. The mounting points and structure of stock knuckles are not compatible. You will need to upgrade to the brass knuckle assembly first.
