Overview
The Traxxas Caster Blocks in brass are precision-engineered weight components designed specifically for the TRX-4M 1/18 scale RC crawler platform. These left and right brass C-hubs deliver an additional 4 grams of weight to the lowest point of your TRX-4M, providing a significant handling improvement that serious RC enthusiasts and trail runners appreciate. Whether you're tackling challenging rock-crawling courses or pushing your RC car UK setup to its limits, these carefully machined components offer tangible performance benefits that justify their inclusion in any TRX-4M tuning programme.
For UK RC hobbyists operating Traxxas TRX-4M models—whether Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, Chevrolet K10, or Ford F-150 variants—the brass caster blocks represent a smart upgrade that enhances both stability and climbing capability. The engineering behind these components ensures they preserve the factory trail-tuned steering geometry and suspension characteristics that make the TRX-4M such a capable platform. This means you're not compromising the vehicle's original handling characteristics; instead, you're optimising them for improved performance in demanding terrain.
These brass weight components are particularly valued by RC car enthusiasts in the UK who recognise that low centre of gravity translates to better anti-rollover stability and more predictable handling during aggressive trail running. The precision machining means fitment is perfect, and the material choice—brass—offers reliable durability for repeated use in competition and recreational settings.
Key Features
- Brass Construction — The use of brass as the material provides excellent weight density and durability, ensuring these components withstand the stresses of trail driving whilst maintaining their dimensional integrity over extended use and repeated impacts typical in RC rock-crawling scenarios.
- Left and Right Pair — This set includes both left and right caster blocks, providing balanced weight distribution across your TRX-4M chassis and ensuring consistent handling characteristics from both sides of the vehicle during cornering and climbing manoeuvres.
- 4 Grams Weight Addition Per Block — The precisely calculated 4-gram addition per block lowers the centre of gravity of your TRX-4M, directly improving stability when navigating obstacles, reducing the likelihood of unwanted rollovers during aggressive driving, and enhancing traction when climbing steep inclines.
- Preserves OEM Geometry — These brass caster blocks are manufactured with exacting tolerances to maintain the TRX-4M's factory trail-tuned steering and suspension geometry, meaning you gain the performance benefits of additional weight without altering the vehicle's original handling balance or requiring additional suspension tuning adjustments.
- Precision Machined Design — The careful machining process ensures these components fit perfectly within the TRX-4M chassis without requiring modifications, making installation straightforward and reliable for RC enthusiasts of all skill levels.
- Improved Anti-Rollover Stability — The lower centre of gravity achieved by adding these brass blocks directly reduces rollover tendency, particularly valuable when traversing rocky terrain, navigating tight switchbacks, or attempting challenging rock-crawling lines where vehicle stability is paramount.
- Enhanced Rock-Climbing Capability — The improved weight distribution and lowered centre of gravity combine to deliver superior traction and climbing performance when attempting steep inclines, providing the extra grip and stability needed to conquer demanding trails.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Caster Blocks represent an excellent example of precision engineering applied to RC vehicle tuning. Each brass block weighs exactly 4 grams, and the pair delivers 8 grams of total weight strategically positioned at the lowest point of the TRX-4M chassis. This seemingly modest weight addition delivers measurable improvements in vehicle behaviour across multiple driving scenarios. The brass material selection is deliberate: it provides superior weight density compared to aluminium alternatives, meaning you achieve the desired gravitational effect without requiring larger, more bulky components that might interfere with clearance or handling characteristics. The machining process employed by Traxxas ensures tolerances are held within exacting specifications, guaranteeing that fitment is perfect and that the components integrate seamlessly with the existing TRX-4M suspension and steering geometry. The manufacturer has taken care to preserve the trail-tuned characteristics that the TRX-4M platform is renowned for, meaning these upgrades complement rather than compromise the vehicle's original engineering. Build quality is evident in the finish and precision of these components, reflecting Traxxas's reputation for manufacturing excellence. For UK RC car enthusiasts who understand that suspension setup and weight distribution are critical factors in trail performance, these brass caster blocks represent a worthwhile investment in optimising TRX-4M performance without the expense of wholesale suspension or drivetrain upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which TRX-4M models are compatible with these brass caster blocks? — These caster blocks are designed for all TRX-4M variants, including the Ford Bronco 1/18 RTR (available in Blue, Red, Orange, Black, White, and Area 51 colours), Land Rover Defender 1/18 RTR (Pink, Green, Light Blue, Silver, Tan, and Black options), Chevrolet K10 High Trail Truck (Blue, Red, and Black), Ford F-150 High Trail Truck (Black, Brown, and Blue), and the TRX-4MT Monster Truck variants in both K10 and F150 specifications.
- Will fitting these brass caster blocks affect my TRX-4M's steering or suspension geometry? — No. These components are specifically engineered to preserve the TRX-4M's trail-tuned steering and suspension geometry. The precision machining ensures they fit perfectly without requiring any modification to your existing setup, meaning you gain the performance benefits of improved stability and climbing capability without altering how the vehicle handles or requiring additional tuning.
- How much weight do these brass caster blocks add to my TRX-4M? — Each brass caster block weighs 4 grams, so the left and right pair together add 8 grams of total weight to the lowest part of your chassis. This modest but strategically positioned weight addition has a disproportionately positive effect on centre of gravity, stability, and climbing performance.
- What is the advantage of brass over aluminium caster blocks? — Brass offers superior weight density compared to aluminium, meaning you achieve the desired gravitational advantage and improved stability with components that are appropriately sized and do not interfere with ground clearance. The material is also durable and reliable for extended use in demanding trail-running environments.
- Are these brass caster blocks suitable for beginners? — Yes, these components are suitable for RC enthusiasts of all experience levels. Installation is straightforward, requiring no special tools or modifications to your TRX-4M. Beginners will benefit from the improved stability and anti-rollover characteristics, whilst experienced drivers will appreciate the enhanced climbing capability and more predictable handling when tackling challenging terrain.
- Do I need any special tools to install these brass caster blocks? — The precision machining means these components integrate seamlessly with the existing TRX-4M chassis. Specific tool requirements would depend on how your TRX-4M is configured, but standard RC hobby tools and a basic screwdriver set should suffice for installation.
- Why should I add weight to my RC car when weight typically impacts speed? — In trail driving and rock-crawling applications, centre of gravity and stability are far more important than top speed. The strategic addition of weight at the lowest point of the chassis significantly improves anti-rollover stability, enhances traction when climbing, and provides more predictable handling on uneven terrain. These benefits far outweigh any minimal speed reduction, particularly given that the TRX-4M is designed for trail performance rather than flat-out racing.
