Overview
Keep your Traxxas TRX-4 GTS shocks performing at their absolute best with the official Traxxas Rebuild Kit for GTS shocks, part number TRX8262. Whether you're a serious RC crawler enthusiast running your TRX-4 on challenging terrain across the UK or a weekend basher who demands reliability from every component, maintaining your suspension system is critical to sustained performance. This comprehensive rebuild kit gives you everything needed to refresh and restore two complete GTS shocks to like-new condition, ensuring your RC crawler maintains its superior damping characteristics and responsive handling on rocks, ruts and rough ground.
The GTS shock system is engineered for the demanding world of 1/10 scale crawling and trail driving, where suspension performance directly impacts traction, stability and your ability to navigate obstacles. Over time, the internal seals in your shocks wear from constant compression and extension cycles, causing fluid leakage, reduced damping and unpredictable suspension behaviour. Rather than replacing entire shocks at significant expense, the Traxxas rebuild kit allows you to service and restore your existing GTS shocks with genuine Traxxas components, maintaining the precision engineering and performance characteristics your crawler demands. This is the smart choice for experienced RC car UK enthusiasts who understand the value of proper maintenance.
Designed specifically for Traxxas TRX-4 models and compatible with numerous variants including the Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition, Ford F-150 Ranger XLT High Trail Edition, Chevrolet K5 Blazer High Trail Edition, Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6, and Ford Bronco models, this rebuild kit represents a cost-effective way to extend the lifespan of your suspension components and maintain the smooth, controlled damping that makes your crawler a pleasure to drive.
Key Features
- Complete Shock Rebuild Solution — This kit supplies all the essential internal components needed to refresh two complete GTS shocks, allowing you to perform a full suspension service without the expense of purchasing entirely new shock units, making it an economical choice for RC enthusiasts who maintain their own equipment.
- Silicone X-Rings — High-quality silicone x-rings provide superior sealing performance compared to standard o-rings, maintaining consistent shock fluid retention and preventing leakage that compromises suspension damping on your trail crawler or rock crawler.
- Silicone O-Rings — Premium silicone o-rings ensure positive sealing of critical shock components, maintaining the integrity of the shock assembly and preserving the precise damping curves engineered into your GTS suspension system.
- Shock Bladders — Replacement bladders maintain proper pressure regulation within the shock chambers, ensuring consistent spring rates and damping performance throughout your crawling sessions, whether you're tackling steep hillsides or technical rocky terrain.
- Pistons — Factory-specification pistons control the flow of suspension fluid through the shock valving, directly affecting how your crawler absorbs impacts and maintains traction on uneven ground, making piston condition critical to suspension performance.
- Bushings and Hardware — Complete hardware packages including bushings and e-clips ensure secure assembly of all shock components, allowing you to rebuild your shocks with confidence that every component will function as originally engineered by Traxxas.
- Genuine Traxxas Components — Every component in this rebuild kit is authentic Traxxas stock, ensuring compatibility with your TRX-4 suspension system and maintaining the original performance standards your crawler was designed to achieve.
- Compatible with Multiple TRX-4 Variants — Whether you own a Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne, Ford F-150 Ranger XLT, Chevrolet K5 Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6, Ford Bronco, or TRX-4 Sport model, this universal rebuild kit suits numerous TRX-4 chassis, making it valuable regardless of which variant you're running.
- Cost-Effective Maintenance — Rebuilding existing shocks costs considerably less than replacing entire shock units, allowing conscientious RC car UK owners to maintain their suspension systems affordably and keep their crawlers performing at peak capability.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTS shock rebuild kit represents genuine OEM engineering, containing all the precision-machined and moulded components that work together to create the smooth, controlled damping response your TRX-4 crawler demands when navigating technical terrain. The inclusion of silicone x-rings and o-rings demonstrates Traxxas's commitment to superior sealing performance; silicone compounds maintain their flexibility and sealing effectiveness across a wider temperature range than basic rubber alternatives, crucial when your RC crawler operates in varied UK climate conditions from cold winter mornings to warm summer afternoons. The replacement bladders maintain proper gas spring pressure within the shock chambers, directly influencing the spring rate curve and how the suspension responds to compression inputs from rocks, roots and ruts. Pistons regulate fluid flow through carefully engineered valve stacks, controlling the precise damping rates that allow your crawler to absorb impacts smoothly whilst maintaining traction and body control. The bushings and complete hardware package ensure that every rebuilt shock assembly functions with the precision tolerances specified by Traxxas engineers, maintaining the responsive handling characteristics and predictable suspension behaviour that makes the TRX-4 platform such a capable trail crawler. By using genuine Traxxas components rather than aftermarket alternatives, you preserve the suspension tuning and performance characteristics your crawler was designed to deliver, whether you're exploring technical rock gardens or climbing steep hillside obstacles with your ready to run RC crawler.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Traxxas TRX-4 models are compatible with the TRX8262 rebuild kit? — This rebuild kit is engineered for GTS shocks and is compatible with a comprehensive range of TRX-4 variants, including the Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition (available in Red, Metallic Blue, Black, and Metallic Copper), the Ford F-150 Ranger XLT High Trail Edition (available in Brown, Blue, and Black), the Chevrolet K5 Blazer High Trail Edition (available in Blue and Red), the Chevrolet K5 Blazer standard edition in Black and Red, the Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6 (available in Red and Silver), the Ford Bronco 1/10 scale crawler (available in Red, White, Orange, and Black), the Defender 4WD RTR (available in Red, Silver, Green, and Sand), the TRX-4 Sport models including Deep-Terrain Traxx and High Trail editions, and the TRX-6 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG XL-5 crawler. If you own any of these TRX-4 or TRX-6 models with GTS shocks, this kit will provide everything needed to perform a complete suspension rebuild on two shocks.
- How often should I rebuild my GTS shocks? — Shock maintenance requirements depend on your usage frequency and terrain difficulty. Casual weekend bashers might rebuild shocks annually or every 12-18 months, whilst competitive crawlers or those running heavily on rocky terrain should consider more frequent rebuilds every 6-12 months. Warning signs that rebuilding is necessary include shock fluid leakage visible on the shock bodies, reduced damping response resulting in bouncy or unpredictable handling, or fluid loss causing shocks to lose pressure and perform inconsistently. If you notice any of these symptoms affecting your RC crawler's performance, a rebuild using this kit will restore suspension function.
- Do I need any special tools to rebuild my GTS shocks? — Whilst the specific tools required aren't detailed in this product information, shock rebuilding typically requires small screwdrivers, snap ring pliers or a specialised e-clip removal tool for removing e-clips, and potentially a shock spring compressor depending on your specific shock design. We recommend consulting the official Traxxas manual or instructional videos before beginning your rebuild, and RC Model Shop staff can offer additional guidance if you visit our store or contact us with specific questions about your rebuild process.
- What is the difference between x-rings and standard o-rings? — X-rings feature a cross-shaped profile rather than the round profile of standard o-rings, which provides superior sealing performance and better resistance to extrusion, the process where seals can be pushed out of their grooves under pressure. This enhanced sealing capability makes x-rings particularly valuable in suspension applications where repeated compression and decompression cycles place significant stress on seal integrity. The inclusion of premium silicone x-rings in this rebuild kit ensures your restored shocks maintain consistent fluid retention and damping performance throughout extended crawling sessions.
- Is shock rebuilding suitable for beginners? — Shock rebuilding requires mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, as the process involves disassembly of shock bodies, removal of small components like o-rings and e-clips, and precise reassembly to ensure proper function. Experienced RC enthusiasts who have disassembled and serviced RC components before will find shock rebuilding straightforward using this genuine Traxxas kit, whilst complete beginners may wish to watch instructional videos or contact specialist retailers for guidance. RC Model Shop staff are happy to discuss the rebuild process and point you toward resources if you need additional support.
- Can I use this rebuild kit on other shock brands or models? — This kit is specifically engineered for Traxxas GTS shocks and is designed for compatibility with the TRX-4 and TRX-6 models listed above. Attempting to use these components on other brands' shocks or different shock designs may result in improper function, leaks, or damage. Always verify that your shocks are genuine Traxxas GTS units before ordering this rebuild kit to ensure compatibility and proper performance.
