- High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — Manufactured from premium spring steel, these components provide consistent spring rates and durability, resisting fatigue and degradation even under the demanding conditions of competitive racing or aggressive bashing.
- Durable Powder-Coated Finish — The powder coating protects the springs from corrosion, moisture damage and UV degradation, extending component life and maintaining the professional appearance of your suspension system whether you're racing or displaying your build.
- Colour-Coded Identification — Coloured dots on the end of each spring make it impossible to accidentally mix spring rates, streamlining your suspension tuning workflow and allowing you to maintain detailed notes about your setup for different tracks and conditions.
- Sold as a Pair — This package includes one pair of springs, providing the matched components you need for rear suspension balance and consistent handling characteristics across left and right sides of your vehicle.
- Precision Spring Rate Consistency — Traxxas shock springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring that both springs in the pair have identical rates and characteristics, eliminating handling imbalances that could result from mismatched components.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTR shock spring system represents decades of Traxxas engineering experience in suspension design and performance tuning. These 1.4 rate pink springs are engineered to provide a specific resistance to compression, measured in spring rate units. The spring rate is critical to your vehicle's performance characteristics: softer springs (lower rates) provide more compliance over obstacles and smoother ride quality, making them ideal for rough outdoor courses and bashing where impact absorption is valued, whilst stiffer springs (higher rates) provide more responsive handling precision, better body control during aggressive cornering, and improved predictability on prepared racing surfaces. The 1.4 rate represents a moderate-to-stiff setup that balances responsiveness with ride quality, making it suitable for a wide range of driving conditions and vehicle weights. The high-quality spring steel used in these components ensures that the spring rate remains consistent throughout the lifespan of the springs, unlike inferior materials that can sag or lose stiffness over time. The powder-coated finish applied to each spring protects against corrosion from moisture, salt and environmental exposure, ensuring that your suspension maintains its performance characteristics whether you're racing in wet UK conditions or storing your RC car for extended periods. These springs are direct replacements that maintain the factory geometry and suspension angles of your GTR, meaning installation is straightforward and you won't need to adjust other suspension components to achieve optimal setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does spring rate mean and how do I choose the right rate for my GTR? — Spring rate refers to how much force is required to compress the spring by a specific distance, measured in pounds per inch (lbs/in). A lower rate springs compresses more easily and provides a softer, more compliant suspension that absorbs impacts and provides a smoother ride—ideal for bashing over rough terrain or if you're running a lighter vehicle configuration. A higher rate spring is stiffer and resists compression more strongly, providing sharper handling response and better body control during cornering—preferred for racing on prepared tracks or with heavier vehicle setups. The 1.4 rate pink springs in this package offer a moderate-to-stiff setup that works well for most driving styles. If you find your GTR wallows excessively in corners or bottom out frequently, try a stiffer spring rate. If the suspension feels too harsh and you're losing traction over bumps, try a softer rate. Traxxas offers springs in multiple rates specifically so you can experiment and find the perfect tuning point for your needs.
- Are these springs compatible with all GTR models? — These springs are engineered specifically for the Traxxas GTR platform and are designed to fit standard rear shock positions. Traxxas maintains excellent compatibility across the GTR range, but you should verify that your specific GTR variant uses standard length rear shocks. If you're unsure, check your vehicle's manual or contact a Traxxas authorised dealer who can confirm compatibility with your exact model.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs are durable components, but they do eventually fatigue and lose their stiffness, particularly if you're running aggressive shock angles, heavy vehicle weight, or racing frequently in competitive settings. Most RC enthusiasts find that quality springs like these Traxxas components last many seasons of regular use. However, if you notice your suspension feeling softer than normal, your vehicle sagging at rest, or inconsistent handling between front and rear, it may be time to replace the springs. It's good practice to have spare spring sets on hand so you can swap between rates for different conditions without waiting for replacements to arrive.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my GTR? — Technically yes, but it's not recommended for optimal handling. Mixing different rates front to rear or left to right can create unpredictable handling characteristics, with some areas of the vehicle responding quickly whilst others feel sluggish. For best results, use matched spring rates front and rear, and ensure both left and right springs use the same rate. This ensures balanced, predictable handling across all driving situations. However, some advanced racers do experiment with slightly different rates to fine-tune weight distribution and understeer/oversteer characteristics—but this requires considerable experience and testing to dial in correctly.
- What is the colour coding system for Traxxas spring rates? — Traxxas uses a colour dot system on the end of shock springs to quickly identify the rate without needing to refer to documentation or packaging. These pink-coded springs are 1.4 rate. The colour system varies by manufacturer and spring type, so always verify the colour against your documentation if you're mixing multiple rates. Having colour-coded springs eliminates confusion when switching between setups and makes it easy to communicate your suspension tuning with other RC enthusiasts.
- Do I need special tools to install these springs? — Installation is straightforward and requires only basic tools: typically a hex key set and possibly a suspension adjustment tool specific to your shock design. You'll need to disassemble the shock body to access the spring, which is a simple procedure documented in your GTR manual. If you're not comfortable working on suspension components, your local Traxxas authorised dealer can install them for you, ensuring perfect setup.
- Are these OEM springs or aftermarket alternatives? — These are genuine OEM Traxxas springs, manufactured to the exact specifications used in factory Traxxas vehicles. This ensures perfect fitment, correct spring rate accuracy, and full compatibility with your GTR. Choosing genuine Traxxas components guarantees quality and eliminates the risk of fitment issues or performance inconsistencies that can sometimes occur with third-party alternatives.
