Overview
The AXIAL Hex Hubs in brass are premium weight distribution components designed specifically for the 1/18 scale UTB18 Capra 4WD Unlimited Trail Buggy. If you're serious about improving your RC rock crawler's performance, these solid brass hex hubs represent a direct upgrade from the stock plastic pieces. By adding strategic weight to your trail buggy, you'll notice immediate improvements in climbing ability and side hilling performance – two critical skills for competitive rock crawling. Whether you're tackling rocky terrain at your local crawling spot or competing in UK RC club events, these weight upgrades make a genuine difference to how your RC car handles challenging obstacles.
Available now at RC Model Shop, these brass hubs are an essential upgrade for anyone running a UTB18 Capra who wants to optimise their chassis for serious off-road performance. The beauty of using brass as the material is that it provides consistent, reliable weight in a compact form factor, allowing you to lower your vehicle's centre of gravity without compromising durability or structural integrity. Each set includes four brass hex hubs – enough for a complete wheel set – meaning you get a balanced weight distribution across all four corners of your RC buggy.
For hobbyists exploring the world of RC tuning and performance upgrades, these hubs represent an excellent introduction to how weight management affects vehicle dynamics. Rock crawling enthusiasts in the UK who are looking to maximise their UTB18's potential will find these brass hubs an indispensable addition to their upgrade collection. RC Model Shop stocks this product as part of our comprehensive range of Axial performance parts and accessories, ensuring you can build the ultimate crawler setup with confidence.
Key Features
- Solid Brass Construction — Unlike the standard plastic hex hubs that come with your UTB18 Capra, these components are manufactured from solid brass, delivering superior weight and consistency that helps optimise your crawler's balance and handling characteristics.
- Precise Weight Distribution — Each brass hex weighs exactly 7 grams, allowing you to add controlled weight directly to your UTB18 in the optimal location for improved centre of gravity and enhanced climbing performance on challenging terrain.
- Improved Climbing Performance — The additional weight positioned at the hubs helps your RC crawler maintain traction and control when ascending steep obstacles, a critical advantage in competitive rock crawling scenarios.
- Enhanced Side Hilling Capability — When traversing diagonal slopes, these brass hubs work to keep your trail buggy planted and stable, reducing the likelihood of tipping and improving driver confidence on uneven ground.
- Direct Replacement Design — These hubs are engineered as direct replacements for your stock plastic pieces, requiring no modification or adapter parts – simply remove the originals and install the brass versions using the included set screws.
- Integrated Set Screws — Every hub comes complete with set screws, meaning you have all the fasteners necessary to secure these upgrades to your UTB18 without hunting for additional parts or accessories.
- Four-Pack Configuration — Each package contains four brass hubs, providing complete coverage for all four wheel positions on your 1/18 scale RC crawler, ensuring balanced weight distribution across the entire chassis.
- Optional Performance Upgrade — Classified as an optional part rather than essential equipment, these brass hubs represent a discretionary upgrade that serious enthusiasts choose when they want to take their UTB18's performance to the next level.
Technical Performance
The AXIAL Hex Hubs in brass represent a thoughtfully engineered performance upgrade specifically calibrated for 1/18 scale rock crawlers. The brass material selection is crucial – brass provides superior weight density compared to plastic whilst maintaining excellent machinability, allowing Axial engineers to create hubs that deliver meaningful weight addition without excessive bulk. At 7 grams per hub, the total weight addition of 28 grams across all four corners is substantial enough to noticeably affect your UTB18's behaviour without overloading the suspension or drivetrain. The engineering behind centre of gravity modification in RC crawling is sophisticated: by lowering your vehicle's centre of gravity, you reduce the mechanical advantage that gravity has when trying to tip your crawler, making it far more resistant to rollovers on slopes and side hills. This is particularly important in competitive crawling environments where technical terrain demands absolute stability and control. The brass construction ensures these hubs will withstand repeated impacts and stress from aggressive crawling, a significant advantage over plastic components which can degrade or crack under heavy use. For UK RC enthusiasts running competition-grade setups on rock crawling courses, the durability and performance characteristics of these brass hubs make them a worthwhile investment in your crawler's long-term reliability and competitive capability.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these brass hex hubs fit my UTB18 Capra? — Yes, these hubs are engineered as direct replacements for the standard plastic hubs that come fitted to the 1/18 UTB18 Capra 4WD Unlimited Trail Buggy. They require no modification and install using the included set screws.
- How much weight do these hubs add to my RC crawler? — Each individual brass hex hub weighs 7 grams, and the set includes four hubs, adding a total of 28 grams to your UTB18 Capra. This weight is distributed evenly across all four wheel positions for balanced handling.
- Why would I upgrade to brass hubs from plastic? — Brass hubs provide superior durability compared to plastic, and the additional weight helps lower your UTB18's centre of gravity, which significantly improves climbing performance and stability when side hilling on challenging terrain.
- Are these suitable for competition rock crawling in the UK? — Absolutely. These brass hubs are specifically designed as performance upgrades for serious crawlers, and many UK RC club competitors use them to optimise their UTB18 setups for technical courses and challenging obstacles.
- Do I need any additional tools to install these hubs? — Installation is straightforward – you'll need basic RC tools to remove your existing plastic hubs and secure these brass replacements using the included set screws. No special tools or modifications are required.
- What is the difference between these brass hubs and the stock plastic ones? — The stock plastic hubs are lightweight but can degrade under heavy use. These brass hubs provide superior durability, add meaningful weight for improved centre of gravity, and help your crawler perform better on steep climbs and slopes.
