Overview

The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 32T Mod1 Safe-D5 (Z-ARA311137) is an essential replacement component for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers who demand reliability and precision from their electric RC cars and trucks. Whether you're running an ARRMA brushless RC vehicle, maintaining a fleet of competition machines, or simply keeping spares in your RC toolbox, this tough steel pinion gear delivers the durability and performance required for extreme RC conditions. As a UK RC retailer serving bashers, racers and hobbyists across the country, we understand that quality drivetrain components are crucial to maintaining consistent performance lap after lap, bash after bash.

This 32-tooth pinion gear is precision manufactured from strong, hardwearing steel and features ARRMA's Safe-D5 bore design—an innovative feature that eliminates the frustration of losing drive and brakes when your set-screw backs out during intense racing or bashing sessions. The Safe-D5 'D' shaped hole matches the profile of your 5mm motor shaft, providing a mechanical lock that keeps your drivetrain engaged even if the fastening becomes slightly loose. This is the kind of thoughtful engineering that separates quality RC components from budget alternatives, and it's why ARRMA pinion gears are trusted by RC competitors and weekend bashers alike across the UK.

Perfect for anyone running ARRMA electric RC vehicles or compatible systems, this Mod1 32T pinion is an affordable spare that belongs in every RC model shop basket and toolbox. Stock one today and enjoy peace of mind knowing you have the right replacement when you need it most.

Key Features

  • Strong and Durable Steel Construction — Manufactured from high-quality steel, this pinion gear is built to withstand the punishment of extreme RC conditions, delivering long-lasting performance whether you're racing competitively or enjoying casual weekend bashing sessions in the UK.
  • Precision Manufactured Wide Tooth Profile — The wide tooth design is engineered for smooth operation with minimal wear and backlash, ensuring consistent power delivery to your wheels and reducing drivetrain noise during high-speed runs.
  • Safe-D5 'D' Shaped Bore — The innovative 'D' shaped hole matches your motor shaft profile perfectly, creating a mechanical lock that prevents loss of drive and brakes even if your set-screw backs out, a common frustration in competitive RC racing.
  • 5mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — Engineered to fit standard 5mm diameter motor shafts commonly found on ARRMA and compatible brushless RC vehicles, ensuring straightforward installation without modifications.
  • Precision Manufactured Threaded Set-Screw Hole — The threaded hole for the M4 x 4mm set-screw is precisely manufactured for secure fastening and repeatable performance, maintaining alignment and eliminating wobble that can affect handling.
  • E-Clip Supplied for Motor Shaft Retention — The included 3.2mm E-clip provides an additional safety measure for pinion retention on your motor shaft, giving you redundant security against accidental separation during intense driving sessions.
  • Complete with All Fasteners Included — Everything you need to install this pinion gear comes in the box: the gear itself, the set-screw, and the E-clip, so there's no need to hunt for compatible hardware.

Technical Performance

This ARRMA Mod1 32-tooth pinion gear represents precision engineering at its finest. The Mod1 pitch specification ensures compatibility with ARRMA spur gears and drivetrain components across their brushless RC vehicle range, from high-speed buggies to powerful monster trucks. The 32-tooth count positions this pinion in the mid-range tooth spectrum, offering a balance between acceleration and top-end speed—higher tooth counts like this 32T favour acceleration and mid-range performance over outright top speed, making it an excellent choice for technical circuit racing or rough terrain bashing where responsive handling matters more than flat-out velocity. The strong steel construction resists the shear forces generated by high-torque brushless motors, whilst the wide tooth profile distributes loads evenly across the engagement area, significantly extending gear life compared to narrower tooth designs. Built to exacting ARRMA standards, this pinion gear performs flawlessly in the demanding world of competitive RC racing and recreational driving across the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the Safe-D5 bore design actually do? — The Safe-D5 'D' shaped hole is a safety feature that mechanically locks onto your 5mm motor shaft, preventing loss of drive and brakes if the set-screw gradually backs out due to vibration during racing or bashing. This is a significant advantage over traditional round bores, which rely entirely on set-screw tension to maintain engagement.
  • Is this pinion gear suitable for competitive RC racing in the UK? — Absolutely. ARRMA's precision manufacturing and durable steel construction make this pinion gear trusted by competitive racers throughout the United Kingdom. Whether you're racing circuit courses or off-road tracks, this component delivers consistent, reliable performance lap after lap.
  • What ARRMA vehicles is this pinion compatible with? — This 32T Mod1 Safe-D5 pinion gear is designed for ARRMA brushless RC vehicles that feature 5mm motor shafts and Mod1 drivetrain components. Check your vehicle's manual or contact our team to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
  • Why carry this as a spare in my RC toolbox? — Pinion gears are wear items that gradually lose teeth with use, and sudden tooth breakage can ruin a race day or ruin your fun session. Keeping a quality spare pinion gear like this in your RC toolbox ensures you can quickly swap it out without abandoning your day at the track or field, keeping you in the action.
  • How does the 32-tooth count affect my RC car's performance? — A 32-tooth pinion is a mid-range option that balances acceleration with top speed. Compared to lower tooth counts (like 30T or 31T), the 32T will provide slightly less top-end velocity but improved acceleration and mid-range responsiveness, making it ideal for technical tracks with corners and elevation changes rather than pure drag racing applications.
  • What is Mod1 pitch and why does it matter? — Mod1 is a metric gear pitch standard that determines how the pinion teeth mesh with your spur gear. Using a Mod1 pinion with Mod1 spur gears ensures smooth engagement, minimal backlash, and optimal power transfer, so always match pitch specifications to avoid drivetrain wear and noise.
