Overview
The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 39T Mod1 Safe-D8 is an essential replacement and upgrade component for RC enthusiasts running ARRMA vehicles with 8mm motor shafts. Whether you're a dedicated basher pushing your RC car to its limits, a weekend racer fine-tuning your setup, or a serious competitor looking to optimise your vehicle's performance, this precision-engineered pinion gear delivers the reliability and durability you need. Built from tough, hardened steel and manufactured to exacting specifications, this 39-tooth pinion gear is the perfect addition to your RC tool box for maintenance, repairs, or performance tuning.
In the competitive world of RC car UK enthusiasts, having quality spare parts on hand is crucial. The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 39T Mod1 Safe-D8 represents genuine OEM engineering that ensures compatibility and performance across ARRMA's extensive range of electric RC vehicles. This isn't a generic replacement – it's specifically designed to work seamlessly with ARRMA's motor systems, delivering smooth power transfer and reliable engagement every time you take your RC car out for a run.
What sets this pinion gear apart from generic alternatives is its innovative Safe-D8 bore design and precision manufacturing. The 'D' shaped hole matches your motor shaft profile perfectly, ensuring drive and brakes are maintained even if the set-screw backs out during intense driving sessions. This thoughtful engineering detail means you can focus on driving your RC model rather than worrying about unexpected failures on the track or trail.
Key Features
- Strong and Durable Steel Construction — This pinion gear is manufactured from hardened steel specifically chosen for long-lasting performance in extreme RC conditions, ensuring it can handle the demands of competitive racing, bashing, and high-stress driving without premature wear or failure.
- Safe-D8 Bore Design — The distinctive 'D' shaped hole matches your motor shaft profile precisely, meaning drive and brakes are not lost if the set-screw backs out during aggressive driving, providing peace of mind and reliability when you need it most.
- Precision Manufactured Wide Tooth Profile — Each tooth is engineered with a wide profile that delivers smooth, efficient power transfer from your brushless or brushed motor to your vehicle's transmission, reducing noise and maximising energy efficiency during every run.
- Suits 8mm Motor Shaft Diameter — This gear is specifically designed for ARRMA vehicles equipped with 8mm motor shafts, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with your RC car's drive system without adapters or modifications.
- Precision Manufactured Threaded Set-Screw Hole — The carefully engineered M4 x 4mm set-screw hole features precision threading that prevents stripping and ensures the pinion gear stays securely attached to your motor shaft, even under extreme acceleration and braking forces.
- E-Clip Supplied for Motor Shaft Retention — The included 6mm E-clip provides additional security, working alongside the set-screw to keep your pinion gear firmly in place and prevent any risk of separation during intense driving sessions.
Technical Performance
This 39-tooth Mod1 pinion gear represents the pinnacle of ARRMA's engineering standards for drivetrain components. The Mod1 gear pitch is a standard specification that ensures smooth meshing with compatible spur gears, creating efficient power transmission from your motor to the wheels. The 39-tooth count positions this gear as a performance-oriented choice within ARRMA's pinion range, suitable for drivers seeking a balance between acceleration and top speed. The steel construction provides superior durability compared to plastic alternatives, maintaining tooth profile integrity even after hundreds of running hours. For RC enthusiasts in the UK running ARRMA vehicles, this pinion gear delivers consistent performance whether you're operating a 2WD stadium truck, a 4WD buggy, or any other ARRMA electric platform with 8mm motor compatibility. The Safe-D8 bore technology demonstrates ARRMA's commitment to reliability, incorporating lessons learned from competitive racing environments where equipment failures can cost races and damage expensive vehicles. The precision manufacturing tolerances ensure minimal runout and perfect alignment with your motor shaft, reducing vibration and extending the operational life of your entire drivetrain system.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 39T and other ARRMA pinion gear options? — The tooth count on a pinion gear directly affects your vehicle's gearing ratio and performance characteristics. A 39T pinion gear provides a specific balance between acceleration and top speed; choosing different tooth counts will adjust these characteristics. The 39T is ideal for drivers seeking a versatile all-around setup suitable for general bashing and racing across varied terrain.
- Is the Safe-D8 bore design really necessary for my RC car? — Yes, the Safe-D8 bore design is genuinely beneficial for any RC car UK enthusiast. The 'D' shaped hole prevents your pinion gear from spinning on the motor shaft even if vibration causes the set-screw to loosen slightly. This is especially important during intense driving sessions where high torque loads and sudden acceleration changes could otherwise cause drivetrain problems. It's a reliability feature that prevents frustrating mid-run failures.
- What wheel spur gear should I pair with this 39T pinion gear? — The source documentation doesn't specify exact spur gear compatibility, as ARRMA offers various options depending on your specific vehicle model and desired performance characteristics. We recommend checking your ARRMA vehicle's manual or contacting our expert team at RC Model Shop for guidance on the correct spur gear pairing for your setup.
- Can I use this pinion gear on any ARRMA vehicle? — This 39T Mod1 Safe-D8 pinion gear is specifically designed for ARRMA vehicles with 8mm motor shafts. This covers many popular ARRMA platforms, but not all models use this shaft diameter. You should verify your vehicle's motor shaft size before ordering to ensure perfect compatibility.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. While pinion gears are replacement and tuning parts typically purchased by enthusiasts with some RC experience, they're straightforward to install and maintain. Beginners who've developed their skills and need to replace worn drivetrain components will find this gear easy to work with. The inclusion of all necessary fasteners (set-screw and E-clip) means you have everything needed for installation right out of the box.
- How often will I need to replace my pinion gear? — The lifespan of a pinion gear depends on driving intensity, terrain, maintenance practices, and the quality of meshing with your spur gear. The hardened steel construction of this ARRMA component means it typically lasts hundreds of running hours with proper care. Regular inspection during maintenance routines will help you identify when replacement is needed.
