Overview
Pro-Line is ready to break the mould once again with an all-new take on drag racing. Introducing the first subcompact car that Ford® ever produced that went on to become an iconic Pro Stock car from the '70s in full-size racing: the 1972 Ford® Pinto! This officially licensed 1/10 scale clear body brings authentic period-correct styling to RC drag racing, opening up an exciting new subcompact drag class that's perfect for UK RC enthusiasts looking to try something different. Whether you're a dedicated Pinto fan or simply ready to explore new racing possibilities, this body represents Pro-Line's commitment to creating incredibly detailed recreations that capture the spirit of classic American motorsport.
To make the Pinto as scale as possible relative to Pro-Line's other drag bodies, Pro-Line has engineered this body to work with popular 11.25" wheelbase 2WD buggies, including the Bandit® (with #6070-00 body mounts), AE SR10, and other compatible platforms. This new size opens the door to bring new people into the world of drag racing using a chassis platform that many RC car enthusiasts in the UK already own. The innovative approach means you don't need to purchase an entirely new buggy chassis to enjoy this stunning body – if you already have a suitable 11.25" wheelbase 2WD RC buggy, you can transform it with this Pinto body and drag racing wheels and tyres. The body comes unpainted and clear, giving you complete creative freedom to paint it however you desire, whether that's in classic period colours or your own unique custom scheme.
All the iconic details from the original 1972 Pinto have been faithfully recreated in 1/10 scale form, and the result looks incredible with big drag tyres fitted. The front end of the body features massive undercut details including the classic hexagon-shaped headlight bezel just like the full-size car, which is only made possible through Pro-Line's proprietary advanced moulding technology. This level of detail transforms your RC buggy drag racer into a rolling piece of automotive history. If you're searching for ready-to-run RC car bodies UK, drag racing shell kits, or simply want to add visual authenticity to your 1/10 scale RC buggy, the 1972 Ford® Pinto is a must-have body for any serious hobbyist.

Technical Performance
The PRO 1/10 1972 Ford Pinto Clear Body is engineered as a dedicated drag racing shell designed specifically for 11.25" wheelbase 2WD buggy platforms. This body measures 20.0" (508mm) in length, 11.0" (279mm) in width at both front and rear, and stands 5.75" (146mm) tall, providing proportionate scale appearance when mounted on compatible chassis. The genuine .040" clear polycarbonate construction delivers the durability required for competitive drag racing whilst maintaining the lightweight characteristics essential for quick acceleration off the line. Pro-Line's advanced proprietary moulding technology allows for complex detail work that wouldn't be possible with conventional bodyshell manufacturing, particularly evident in the massively inset front end and the intricately detailed hexagon-shaped headlight bezels. The wheelbase specification of 11.25" (286mm) is critical – this measurement must match your existing buggy platform precisely for proper fitment. The body is supplied completely unpainted and clear, allowing you to apply your chosen colour scheme and custom graphics using the included detailed decal sheet. Whether you're building a competition-grade drag racer or a display-quality replica, the engineering quality and authentic proportions make this an excellent choice for serious RC enthusiasts seeking professional-level performance and appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What chassis does this 1/10 Ford Pinto body fit? — This body is designed specifically for 11.25" wheelbase 2WD buggies. It's compatible with the Bandit® (when fitted with #6070-00 body mounts), the AE SR10, and other similar 11.25" wheelbase platforms. It's essential to verify your chassis wheelbase measurement before purchasing, as proper fitment depends on this specification.
- Do I need extended body mounts for the Bandit®? — Yes, if you're using a Traxxas Bandit® platform, you'll need the #6070-00 extended body mounts to ensure proper body fit and clearance. This is mentioned in the product specifications and is important for correct installation.
- Is this body suitable for beginners? — This product is a bodyshell only and requires significant additional components to complete – you'll need a compatible 11.25" wheelbase buggy chassis, wheels, tyres, paint, and tools. It's best suited for RC enthusiasts with existing knowledge of body preparation, painting, and assembly. If you're new to RC, you may want to start with a ready-to-run RC car UK package first.
- Why is this body unpainted? — The clear unpainted finish gives you complete creative freedom to paint your body in any colour scheme, custom graphics, or livery you choose. This allows you to personalise your drag racer and achieve exactly the look you want, whether that's authentic period colours or entirely unique designs.
- What makes the detail quality exceptional on this body? — Pro-Line's proprietary advanced moulding technology enables complex three-dimensional details that standard injection moulding processes cannot achieve. The massively inset front end and intricate hexagon-shaped headlight bezels are prime examples of design elements that set this body apart from standard alternatives.
- Can this body be used for on-road or off-road racing? — This is specifically designed and engineered for drag racing on flat surfaces. The 1972 Pinto drag racing aesthetic, combined with the subcompact wheelbase class designation, makes this a drag-racing-specific body rather than a general-purpose racing shell.
- What's the difference between this and other Pro-Line drag bodies? — This 1972 Pinto is unique in launching Pro-Line's new subcompact drag class. Compared to Pro-Line's other drag bodies, it's designed for smaller 11.25" wheelbase platforms rather than larger chassis, making it more accessible to UK RC enthusiasts who already own compatible buggies. The Pinto's iconic styling and period-correct details also distinguish it from contemporary vehicle designs offered by Pro-Line.
- Are window masks essential? — Window masks are included and highly recommended for achieving professional-looking results when painting. They protect the clear window areas from overspray, allowing you to achieve clean lines and transparent windows that enhance the scale appearance of the finished body.
