Key Features
- Super Low-Slung Design with Sharp Lines — The Axis body features an aggressive, aerodynamically optimised profile that reduces wind resistance whilst maintaining visual impact. The carefully sculpted lines throughout the body improve airflow over the chassis, which translates to better stability at high speed and improved cornering performance on technical race tracks.
- Cab-Forward Design for Enhanced Steering Response — The cabin is positioned forward on the chassis, which shifts the centre of pressure and improves the buggy's steering sensitivity. This design philosophy means your RC car will respond more quickly and precisely to your radio inputs, giving you a competitive advantage in tight corners and technical sections of the track.
- Small Side Fins for Ideal Side-Bite — The integrated side fins are proportioned to balance out the rear end of the car without creating excessive drag. These fins work together with the body shape to generate side-bite, which is the aerodynamic grip that keeps your buggy planted during aggressive cornering and prevents unwanted body roll.
- Perfect Gearbox Clearance — The rear section of the Axis body has been engineered with the exact amount of clearance needed for the TLR 22X-4 gearbox. This ensures smooth operation without interference, allowing your transmission to work at peak efficiency without any binding or rubbing that could slow you down on race day.
- Designed with Latest CAD Technology — Every curve, angle and dimension of the Axis body has been optimised using advanced computer-aided design software. This means the body is not based on guesswork or tradition, but on precision engineering that maximises aerodynamic performance and handling characteristics.
- Includes Pro-Line's 6.5 inch Air Force II Wing — The integrated wing provides adjustable downforce to fine-tune your buggy's handling balance. This competition-grade component allows you to dial in exactly the right amount of rear stability for your preferred driving style and track conditions.
- Paint-Then-Peel Overspray Film Built-In — Professional painters will appreciate the integrated masking system. Once you've applied your paint, you simply peel away the protective film to reveal perfectly clean, sharp paint lines without the need for tedious masking and masking tape removal.
- Crystal Clear Polycarbonate Construction — The body is manufactured from high-quality crystal clear polycarbonate that provides excellent impact resistance and durability. This material allows your chassis and components to be visible from outside the body, which is both practical for maintenance checks and visually appealing to spectators and fellow racers.
- Made in the USA Since 1982 — Pro-Line's manufacturing heritage spans over four decades of RC body development. Your Axis body represents generations of refinement and continuous improvement based on real-world racing feedback from competitors worldwide.
- Included Window Masks — The package includes pre-cut window masks that make preparation and painting significantly easier. These professional-quality masks ensure clean paint lines around all window areas, saving you time during the painting process and delivering a professional finished result.
- Decal Sheet Included — A comprehensive decal sheet is included to help you complete your body design. These graphics can be applied over your paint scheme to add visual interest and personalisation to your race buggy.
Technical Performance
The Axis Light Weight Clear Body is engineered to deliver measurable performance advantages on the track. The lightweight polycarbonate construction reduces unsprung mass, which improves suspension response and allows your shocks to react more quickly to track surface changes. The aerodynamic design, developed using advanced CAD technology, minimises drag whilst maintaining the downforce necessary for high-speed stability. The low-slung profile of the body lowers the centre of gravity, which improves cornering performance and reduces the likelihood of roll-over during aggressive manoeuvres. The cab-forward design redistributes aerodynamic pressure, giving the Axis superior steering response compared to traditional boxy body designs. The small side fins are precisely proportioned to generate ideal side-bite without creating excessive lateral drag, which means you'll maintain consistent speed through corners. The body features perfect fitment to the TLR 22X-4 chassis and bulkhead, with engineered clearance for the gearbox that ensures no interference with any moving components. This precision engineering means every aspect of your buggy's performance is optimised, from initial acceleration to sustained high-speed cornering.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this body fit any other RC buggy besides the TLR 22X-4? — No, the Axis Light Weight Clear Body is specifically engineered and dimensioned to fit the TLR 22X-4 chassis perfectly. The body mounting points, bulkhead fitment and gearbox clearance are all tailored to this platform. Attempting to fit it to other buggies may result in poor fitment, performance loss and potential damage to both the body and chassis. If you own a different buggy model, Pro-Line manufactures bodies designed specifically for your platform.
- Is this body suitable for beginners to RC racing? — The Axis Light Weight is primarily designed for serious racers and competitors rather than casual bashers. However, beginners who own a TLR 22X-4 and are interested in competitive racing will find this body very suitable. The included decal sheet and window masks make preparation straightforward, and the manufacturing quality ensures you'll get professional results. The competitive aerodynamic design will help you develop your racing skills on a properly balanced platform. If you're new to painting polycarbonate bodies, you may want to watch tutorial videos before starting, but the included overspray film makes the process more forgiving than traditional unpainted bodies.
- What makes this body lightweight compared to other options? — The Axis is manufactured from high-quality crystal clear polycarbonate that is engineered to be thin whilst maintaining rigidity and impact resistance. This material selection is significantly lighter than painted bodies with heavier paint coats, and the design itself has no unnecessary material or reinforcements. Lighter bodies improve your buggy's weight distribution, reduce inertia, and allow the suspension to work more effectively because the unsprung mass is lower. This translates directly to better performance on the track.
- How do I paint this clear polycarbonate body? — The body comes with a built-in paint-then-peel overspray film that protects your window areas during painting. The process is straightforward: clean the body thoroughly, apply the included window mask if needed for additional protection, paint your chosen design using polycarbonate-compatible paint, then peel away the overspray film to reveal clean paint lines. Pro-Line recommends following standard polycarbonate painting practices and using appropriate primer and paint products designed for plastic.
- Does this body come with mounting hardware? — The body itself does not include mounting hardware, as this is typically already on your TLR 22X-4 chassis or you may have preferred mounting solutions. The body is designed to mount directly to your existing chassis mounting points with compatible hardware.
- Can I use this body on my TLR 22X-4 as unpainted? — Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Unpainted polycarbonate is transparent, so the chassis components inside will be visible. More importantly, unpainted clear polycarbonate can become brittle over time when exposed to UV light. Painting protects the polycarbonate and extends the life of your body significantly. Painting also completes the professional appearance and is part of the customisation experience that makes building your own RC buggy so rewarding.
- What is the difference between this and the standard Axis body? — The key difference is in the weight. The Light Weight version is engineered to be as light as possible whilst maintaining structural integrity, making it the preferred choice for racing applications where every gram matters. The standard version may have slightly thicker construction for increased durability in bashing applications. For competitive racing, the Light Weight variant gives you a measurable performance advantage.
- Does the body come with a decal sheet? — Yes, a comprehensive decal sheet is included. However, you have complete flexibility in how you use it. You can apply all the decals as shown in the Pro-Line reference images, apply some decals to create your own design, or create a completely custom scheme without any Pro-Line graphics. The decals are printed on professional-grade material and apply cleanly to painted polycarbonate.
