Overview

This is a pair of Buck Shot 1:8 Buggy Tires. The Buck Shot debuted at the 2017 ROAR National Championships and is already a Winner at the hands Pro-Line Team Driver Ty Tessmann! The Buck Shot has pins that are very close in size to the amazing Hole Shot 2.0 but the Buck Shot pins are stacked closer together side to side, which provides significantly longer lasting performance. Unique to the Buck Shot are the alternating elongated bars that provide incredible forward grip! Similar to the extremely popular SwitchBlade tire, the Buck Shot is a directional tire with different tread on the outside compared to the inside, allowing you to mount the tires in the direction that suits your current track conditions. One side of the tire has standard pins, which is ideal for loose or low traction conditions where you want the tire to add side grip and improve steering. When you mount the tire the other direction, the connected side tread (Blade) reduces side traction in high-bite or edgy conditions. Racers who have tried the Buck Shot are saying that it is their new favorite tire! Be the first at your track to win with Pro-Line's new Buck Shot!

Overview

The Pro-Line 1/8 Buck Shot S4 Front/Rear Off-Road Buggy Tyres represent a genuine breakthrough in RC buggy tyre technology, combining championship-winning performance with exceptional durability. Already proven as a National Championship winner, these tyres debuted at the 2017 ROAR National Championships where Pro-Line Team Driver Ty Tessmann claimed victory, establishing them immediately as serious competition-grade rubber for demanding RC car enthusiasts. Whether you're racing at your local track or practising for competitions, these tyres deliver the precision grip and longevity that separate winners from the rest of the field. For RC buggy drivers across the UK looking for genuine competitive advantage, the Buck Shot S4 represents an investment in proven performance backed by years of racing pedigree.

What sets the Buck Shot S4 apart from other 1/8 off-road buggy tyres is the intelligent engineering behind every aspect of the design. The pins are sized very similarly to the legendary Hole Shot 2.0, but Pro-Line's engineers stacked them closer together side to side, which dramatically extends tyre lifespan without sacrificing the forward traction that drivers demand. This means you'll get substantially longer lasting performance compared to traditional pin-type tyres, reducing the frequency of costly replacements during a racing season. The alternating elongated bars provide incredible forward grip in straight-line acceleration, whilst the directional tread design—similar to the extremely popular SwitchBlade tyre—allows you to adapt to changing track conditions by simply reversing the tyre direction on your 1/8 scale off-road buggy.

These are tyres engineered for serious racers who understand that track conditions change throughout the day and from one race meeting to the next. The Buck Shot S4 gives you that flexibility, which is why racers who have tried them consistently report that it is their new favourite tyre. The S4 compound represents Pro-Line's latest and greatest ultra-long-lasting compound formulation, delivering a substantial leap forward in grip across dry and slick conditions whilst maintaining stability throughout long main events without fade. Backed by Pro-Line's lab-certified select compounds, these tyres have been rigorously tested and proven in real racing conditions at the highest levels of competition.

Key Features

  • Directional Tread Design with SwitchBlade Technology — Unlike standard tyres that work the same regardless of which direction they face, the Buck Shot features different tread patterns on the outside compared to the inside of the tyre, allowing you to mount them in either direction to suit your current track conditions and get an immediate advantage over competitors running non-directional rubber.
  • Dual-Condition Pin Configuration — One side of the tyre features standard pins that are ideal for loose or low-traction conditions where you want the tyre to add extra side grip and improve steering precision and cornering response, whilst the opposite side can be mounted when you need to reduce side traction in high-bite or edgy conditions.
  • Ultra-Durable S4 Compound — Pro-Line's latest ultra-long-lasting compound formulation delivers substantially longer tyre life than comparable alternatives, meaning you can run more practice sessions and races before needing replacement, significantly reducing your consumables budget over a racing season.
  • Pin Design Based on Championship Geometry — The pin size closely matches the proven geometry of the legendary Hole Shot 2.0, but with pins stacked closer together side to side, providing the same level of grip you know and trust whilst extending durability considerably.
  • Alternating Elongated Bar Design — Unique to the Buck Shot, these alternating elongated bars provide incredible forward grip during acceleration, giving you the extra bite you need to launch harder out of corners and maintain traction on low-grip surfaces.
  • Closed Cell Foam Inserts Included — Each pair comes with two closed cell foam inserts that absorb impacts and maintain tyre structure, ensuring consistent performance throughout your run and preventing tyre squirm on high-grip surfaces.
  • Lab-Certified Performance — These tyres are certified by Pro-Line's laboratory testing protocols, ensuring consistent quality, compound performance and grip characteristics that meet competition standards.
  • Proven Championship Pedigree — Already a winner at the 2017 ROAR National Championships and trusted by professional racers, the Buck Shot has earned its reputation through real-world racing success, not just marketing claims.

Technical Performance

The Pro-Line Buck Shot S4 represents serious engineering focused on delivering both grip and longevity. The S4 compound is Pro-Line's latest formulation, offering maximum compound grip on low bite surfaces whilst maintaining controlled expansion through a compliant carcass that produces traction without sacrificing stability. The compound performs exceptionally well on wet surfaces with medium wear characteristics, allowing you to select the firmer material for higher temperature conditions or the softer material for cooler track temperatures to optimise performance for your specific conditions. The pin geometry derives from competition-proven design—similar in size to the Hole Shot 2.0 but with closer side-to-side stacking that extends durability significantly. The alternating elongated bars work alongside the pin design to generate forward grip that is particularly valuable in low-traction conditions. These are front and rear off-road buggy tyres designed for 1/8 scale vehicles, suitable for competition racing where the directional tread design allows track adaptation without purchasing multiple tyre sets. The closed cell foam inserts maintain tyre shape and prevent excessive deflection on high-grip surfaces, preserving the intended contact patch throughout your racing sessions. With proper setup and appropriate compound selection for ambient temperature, the Buck Shot S4 delivers stable performance throughout long main events without the grip fade that plagues inferior tyre compounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are the Pro-Line Buck Shot S4 tyres suitable for serious racing or just casual bashing? — These are competition-grade tyres proven at the ROAR National Championships level, so they are absolutely suitable for serious racing. However, their durability and consistent performance throughout long main events make them excellent value for dedicated racers and weekend competitors who want genuine competitive advantage. The directional tread design specifically caters to racers who adapt to track conditions rather than casual basher who prioritise durability over performance.
  • How do the directional tread and SwitchBlade design work, and why would I need it? — The tyres can be mounted in two different directions, giving you effectively two different tyre compounds in one set. The standard pin side provides extra side grip in loose conditions, whilst the blade side reduces side traction in high-bite or edgy conditions. This means you can adapt to changing track conditions throughout a race day without purchasing additional tyres—just flip them around. This is particularly valuable when temperatures rise during the day or when you move between indoor and outdoor tracks with different surface characteristics.
  • How do the Buck Shot S4 tyres compare to the Hole Shot 2.0 and other 1/8 buggy tyres? — The Buck Shot pin geometry is based on the proven Hole Shot 2.0 design, so grip characteristics are very similar, but Pro-Line stacked the pins closer together side to side, which significantly extends tyre lifespan without sacrificing forward traction. The alternating elongated bar design is unique to the Buck Shot and provides additional forward grip. The S4 compound is Pro-Line's latest formulation, offering superior grip and stability compared to earlier S3 or M4 variants. If you want championship-proven performance with exceptional durability and the flexibility of directional tread mounting, the Buck Shot S4 represents the pinnacle of Pro-Line's 1/8 buggy tyre technology.
  • What temperature range are these tyres suitable for? — The S4 compound allows you to select firmer material for higher temperature conditions or softer material for cooler temperatures, so you can optimise performance across a wide operating range. Pro-Line provides a comprehensive tyre compound chart for guidance on selecting the correct compound for your ambient conditions and track surface.
  • Will these tyres fit my 1/8 scale RC buggy? — These are specifically designed as front and rear tyres for 1/8 scale off-road buggies, and they are directional, meaning you can mount them on either front or rear and in either rotational direction depending on your track conditions and setup preferences.
  • How long do these tyres typically last? — The S4 compound and closer pin stacking provide substantially longer tyre life than comparable alternatives, though actual wear depends heavily on track surface, driving style, temperature and maintenance. Racing competitively, you can expect significantly more miles compared to standard pin-type tyres, making them excellent value despite the initial investment.
