Overview
Team Losi Racing's silicone shock oil is an essential pit accessory for any serious RC racer in the UK looking to maintain their vehicles in peak condition. Whether you're competing with a TLR buggy, truggy, or any RC car that requires precision shock tuning, this 40WT silicone shock oil delivers the consistent performance that factory team drivers depend on. Genuine TLR pit accessories are manufactured to the same exacting standards as TLR's competition-proven RC buggies and truggies, ensuring your shock setup performs exactly as intended on race day.
This 4oz bottle of TLR silicone shock oil is formulated specifically for RC racing applications where shock damping characteristics are critical to handling and performance. The 40WT viscosity and 516 centistoke specification provide the medium dampening needed for many racing setups, making this an ideal choice for racers who want to fine-tune their suspension without compromising reliability. Available at RC Model Shop, this is the same shock oil used by TLR Factory Team drivers to keep their RC racing vehicles operating at championship level.
For any RC racer serious about maintaining their equipment to factory standards, TLR shock oil is not simply an optional accessory—it's a fundamental part of your pit bench equipment. Just like you'll find TLR pit mats, pit towels, and other specialised track supplies at every professional RC racing event, TLR silicone shock oils are staples on the benches of the most successful competitors. Make TLR track equipment and pit accessories part of your race-winning strategy.

Technical Performance
TLR silicone shock oil at 40WT delivers the performance characteristics that RC racing demands. The 516 centistoke viscosity specification represents a carefully calibrated medium-weight formulation that balances shock absorption with responsive handling characteristics. This type of shock oil is essential for RC racing because it directly affects how your suspension responds to track conditions, influences your vehicle's stability during acceleration and cornering, and impacts overall lap consistency. The silicone-based formulation ensures excellent temperature stability, maintaining viscosity consistency whether you're racing in cold UK winter conditions or warm summer events. Professional RC racers understand that shock oil isn't a generic consumable—the specific weight and formulation directly influence how your buggy or truggy handles, how much grip your tyres maintain, and ultimately how competitive you can be on race day. By using genuine TLR formulated shock oil, you're ensuring that your suspension tuning adjustments produce predictable, repeatable results. This is the same product trusted by TLR Factory Team drivers who compete at the highest levels of RC racing, meaning you can have confidence that your RC vehicle will respond exactly as intended when you've dialled in your shock settings with TLR silicone oil.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 40WT shock oil mean and why is it important for RC racing? — The WT designation indicates weight, referring to viscosity—how thick or thin the oil is. 40WT represents a medium-weight formulation suitable for many racing applications. In RC racing, shock oil weight directly affects suspension dampening characteristics. Lighter oils (like 30WT) provide softer damping and more suspension compliance, while heavier oils (like 50WT) create stiffer, more controlled suspension. The 40WT weight makes this ideal for racers seeking balanced handling that works across varied track conditions without requiring extreme suspension geometry adjustments.
- What is 516 centistoke (CST) viscosity? — Centistokes is a precise measurement of oil viscosity at a specific temperature. The 516 CST specification tells you exactly how the oil flows, ensuring consistency and allowing you to make reliable shock tuning comparisons between different sessions. When you adjust from one shock oil weight to another, understanding the CST rating helps you predict how handling will change, making this measurement crucial for competitive RC racers who need predictability.
- Is TLR silicone shock oil suitable for beginners? — Yes, TLR shock oils are used by racers at all levels, from beginners learning suspension tuning to factory team drivers competing for championships. However, you'll only need shock oil if you're actively maintaining and servicing your RC vehicle's shocks. Beginners should understand that shock oil is one component of suspension setup—the weight you choose affects handling, so learning about different viscosities is part of developing as a competitive RC racer.
- How much shock oil do I need in my RC car shocks? — The amount depends on your specific shock design and whether you're running sealed or open shocks. Most RC buggies and truggies require a specific volume measured in millilitres. Your vehicle's manual will specify exact quantities. A 4oz bottle provides generous volume for multiple shock services, making it practical for maintaining several RC vehicles or experimenting with different weights throughout a season.
- Can I use this shock oil in any RC vehicle? — TLR shock oil is formulated for RC racing applications and works with standard RC shock designs. Whether you own a TLR buggy, truggy, or other RC racing vehicle from any manufacturer, genuine TLR shock oil is compatible with any shock that accepts silicone-based oil at this viscosity. Always check your vehicle's documentation to confirm shock type and oil capacity before servicing.
- Why choose genuine TLR shock oil over generic brands? — Genuine TLR pit accessories are manufactured to the same exacting standards as TLR's competition-proven RC vehicles. Generic shock oils may have inconsistent viscosity, impurities, or formulations that don't deliver predictable tuning results. Professional racers choose TLR products specifically because they provide consistency and reliability—when you change from one bottle to the next, you know the performance characteristics remain identical. This consistency is essential for serious RC racing where even small variables affect competitive performance.
