Overview

The TLR Silicone Shock Oil in 22.5WT, 223CST is an essential pit accessory for RC racing enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision tuning and competition-proven performance. Whether you're preparing your RC car UK for track days, club racing, or serious competition, this genuine Team Losi Racing shock oil delivers the exact damping characteristics you need for optimal suspension setup. Team Losi Racing manufactures this shock oil to the same exacting standards applied to all their competition-proven buggies and truggies, ensuring you're getting a product trusted by TLR Factory Team drivers and serious racers worldwide.

Shock oil viscosity is absolutely critical to RC racing performance. The 22.5WT rating at 223 centistokes (cSt) sits in the middle-range of the TLR shock oil lineup, making it ideal for racers who need a balanced setup that handles moderate track conditions. Too thin and your shocks won't provide sufficient damping control; too thick and your suspension becomes sluggish and unresponsive. This 22.5WT formulation strikes that balance, giving you the precise tuning capability that separates competitive setups from casual bashers. The 2oz bottle provides ample quantity for multiple shock servicing and adjustments throughout the racing season.

If you're serious about RC racing in the UK, stocking your pit bench with a range of TLR shock oils at different viscosities is fundamental to your race-winning strategy. By fine-tuning shock damping with different oils, you can optimise your RC buggy or truggy for specific track conditions, weather changes, and driving styles. The TLR Silicone Shock Oil 22.5WT is the perfect addition to any racer's pit bag, whether you're a seasoned competitor or advancing from ready to run RC basics into serious tuning work.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Losi Racing Formula — This shock oil is manufactured by Team Losi Racing to the exact specifications used by their Factory Team drivers, ensuring consistent quality and reliable performance across every application. Using genuine TLR products means you're not guessing about compatibility or performance characteristics.
  • 22.5WT Viscosity Rating — The 22.5WT designation provides a mid-range damping coefficient that works effectively across a broad spectrum of track conditions, making this oil versatile for various suspension setups and driving techniques without requiring extreme tuning adjustments.
  • 223 Centistoke (cST) Specification — The 223cST measurement gives precise technical data about fluid thickness and flow characteristics, allowing experienced racers to make informed decisions about damping rates and make accurate comparisons with other shock oil options in the TLR lineup.
  • Silicone-Based Formula — Silicone shock oils provide superior thermal stability and consistent viscosity across temperature ranges you'll encounter at the track, ensuring your suspension behaves predictably whether racing on hot summer days or in cooler conditions.
  • 2oz Bottle Size — The 2oz capacity provides sufficient volume for multiple shock servicing and rebuilds, plus extra for experimentation and tuning adjustments, without requiring excessive storage space in your pit bag or RC workshop.
  • Professional Pit Accessory — This product is part of the complete TLR RC pit accessories lineup designed specifically for racers who approach their hobby with professionalism and want the same equipment used by successful competitors at TLR racing events.

Technical Performance

The TLR Silicone Shock Oil 22.5WT represents the engineering excellence you expect from a manufacturer that produces competition-proven RC buggies and truggies. The 223 centistoke viscosity rating sits perfectly in the mid-range of damping options, offering smooth, predictable shock performance that responds well to fine-tuning adjustments. Silicone-based shock oils like this formulation maintain consistent viscosity across temperature variations, which is crucial because RC racing pit conditions change constantly—morning practice sessions may occur in cooler temperatures while afternoon races take place in bright sunshine with significantly warmer track conditions. The TLR Silicone Shock Oil compensates for these temperature variations, ensuring your suspension geometry and damping rates remain stable throughout your racing day. The 2oz bottle is carefully engineered to dispense precise quantities without waste, allowing you to meter exact amounts for shock servicing, whether you're performing complete rebuilds with fresh oil or simply topping up existing shocks to restore optimal damping characteristics. As part of Team Losi Racing's comprehensive pit accessory system—which includes shock oils at multiple viscosity ratings from 17.5WT through 50WT—this 22.5WT option integrates seamlessly with other TLR maintenance products, ensuring all your pit supplies work together cohesively for championship-level performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity shock oil should I use for my RC racing setup? — Shock oil viscosity selection depends on your specific track conditions, suspension geometry, and driving style. The 22.5WT, 223CST rating positions this oil in the mid-range of the TLR lineup, making it suitable for moderate track conditions and balanced suspension tuning. TLR provides shock oils ranging from 17.5WT through 50WT, allowing racers to dial in exactly the damping characteristics their setup requires. Many competitive racers stock multiple viscosities to fine-tune for different conditions.
  • How often should I change my RC shock oil? — Regular shock servicing keeps your suspension performing at peak efficiency. The 2oz bottle provides enough oil for multiple shock rebuilds throughout the racing season. Oil degrades over time through contact with metal surfaces, exposure to heat, and accumulation of microscopic debris from internal shock wear. Experienced racers typically service shocks every few months of active racing or whenever they notice changes in suspension response.
  • Is TLR Silicone Shock Oil compatible with all RC buggies and truggies? — Yes, this silicone shock oil is designed as a universal pit accessory suitable for any RC buggy or truggy using traditional oil-damped shocks. Whether you race TLR vehicles or other brands, silicone shock oils like this formulation work reliably across all standard shock designs. Always verify your specific shock compatibility in your vehicle manual, but silicone shock oil is the industry standard for RC racing.
  • What's the difference between 22.5WT and other TLR shock oil weights? — Team Losi Racing manufactures shock oils from 17.5WT (thinner, less damping) through 50WT (thicker, more damping). The 22.5WT sits in the middle range. Thinner oils (17.5WT, lower numbers) provide faster shock response suitable for smooth tracks. Thicker oils (37.5WT, 50WT, higher numbers) provide more compression resistance for rougher surfaces or to stabilise overly responsive setups. Racers typically experiment with different viscosities to find the perfect balance for their driving style and track conditions.
  • Why is cSt (centistoke) measurement important? — The 223 centistoke rating is the scientific measurement of fluid viscosity—how thick the oil flows. This precise technical specification allows you to make informed decisions about shock performance and accurately compare different shock oils. Higher cSt numbers mean thicker, more damping fluid; lower cSt numbers mean thinner, faster-flowing fluid. Using manufacturer specifications like this eliminates guesswork from your suspension tuning process.
  • Is genuine Team Losi Racing shock oil better than generic alternatives? — Genuine TLR shock oil is manufactured to exacting quality standards and formulated specifically for Team Losi Racing vehicles and suspension geometry. Using authentic TLR products ensures consistent performance and reliability. The fact that TLR Factory Team drivers use these products for competition racing demonstrates the quality commitment behind every bottle. For serious racers investing in competition-proven buggies and truggies, using genuine pit accessories completes your professional racing setup.
