Overview

The TLR 16mm EVO Rear Shock Spring is a genuine Team Losi Racing replacement component designed specifically for competitive 1/8 scale RC buggy racing. This blue 4.6 spring rate option comes as a pair and is engineered to deliver precise suspension tuning for the 8B 4.0 platform. Whether you're a serious racer competing at UK RC events or an enthusiast looking to fine-tune your machine's handling characteristics, these OEM shock springs are essential upgrades that allow you to customise your suspension setup to match track conditions and your driving style.

Shock springs are fundamental to RC car performance, affecting how your buggy absorbs bumps, maintains traction through corners, and responds to driver input. The 16mm EVO design represents Team Losi Racing's latest engineering thinking for the 8IGHT-X and 8IGHT-XE platforms, offering improved durability and consistent performance across multiple runs. If you're upgrading from stock springs or exploring different spring rates to optimise your buggy's performance on UK race tracks, this genuine TLR part ensures compatibility and reliability that aftermarket alternatives simply cannot match.

These rear shock springs are classified as optional parts but are highly recommended for anyone serious about maximising their RC buggy's potential. Whether you compete in 1/8 buggy racing or bash casually at weekends, having a selection of spring rates in your spares box allows you to adapt quickly to changing track surface conditions—from grippy indoor circuits to loose outdoor tracks. RC car UK enthusiasts and competitive racers alike rely on genuine Team Losi Racing components to maintain the performance edge their vehicles are designed to deliver.

Key Features

  • 16mm EVO Design — The 16mm shock format represents the latest evolution in Team Losi Racing suspension technology, providing improved spring consistency and durability compared to older 14mm designs, which means your suspension will maintain predictable handling characteristics throughout a full day of racing.
  • 4.6 Spring Rate Blue Colour — The colour-coded blue designation indicates a 4.6 spring rate, allowing you to quickly identify and swap springs during tuning sessions without confusion, and the specific rate is optimised for medium-grip track conditions and general all-purpose racing.
  • Pair of Springs Included — You receive two springs, which is precisely what you need for both rear shocks on your 8B 4.0, eliminating the need to purchase multiple packs for a complete suspension refresh.
  • OEM Team Losi Racing Quality — As genuine factory components, these springs meet exact specifications and manufacturing tolerances that Team Losi Racing engineers have proven through competition, ensuring consistent performance and reliability that clone parts cannot replicate.
  • Optimised for 8B 4.0 Platform — These springs are specifically engineered for the 8IGHT-B 4.0 brushless chassis, making them a direct fit without modification and guaranteeing optimal suspension geometry and performance characteristics.
  • Essential Tuning Tool — Spring rate selection is one of the most impactful suspension adjustments available to RC buggy racers, and having multiple rates on hand transforms you from a driver limited by static setup into a tuner capable of maximising performance on any track.

Technical Performance

The 16mm EVO rear shock springs represent genuine Team Losi Racing engineering focused on delivering precise suspension response for competitive 1/8 scale buggy racing. The 4.6 spring rate blue springs are specifically calibrated to provide the ideal balance of ride height maintenance and compliance for medium-grip racing conditions. At 16mm length, these springs are engineered to work within the specific mounting geometry of the 8B 4.0 chassis, ensuring correct ride height, anti-squat characteristics, and bump compliance. The EVO designation indicates these are updated designs incorporating feedback from Team Losi Racing's factory race team, meaning you're benefiting from real-world competition experience distilled into a simple bolt-on component. Spring rate selection dramatically affects how your RC buggy performs—softer springs provide better traction and ride comfort but reduce stability under hard acceleration, whilst stiffer springs maintain ride height and stability but may reduce grip on bumpy surfaces. The 4.6 blue rate sits in the medium-soft range of Team Losi Racing's spring lineup, making it ideal for most UK racing environments and suitable as a starting point for both beginners exploring suspension tuning and experienced racers adapting to new tracks. These springs work in conjunction with your shock absorber fluid and piston settings to create a complete suspension system, and changing spring rate is often the fastest way to dial in your handling characteristics without requiring major chassis modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What RC buggies are these shock springs compatible with? — These 16mm EVO springs are designed specifically for Team Losi Racing 1/8 scale buggies, including the 8IGHT-X (4WD Nitro), 8IGHT-XE (4WD Electric), and 8IGHT-X/E 2.0 Combo platforms. If you own one of these genuine TLR buggies and want to upgrade or replace your rear springs, these are the correct fit.
  • Why should I replace my stock shock springs? — Stock springs provide a reasonable general-purpose setup, but replacing them with quality springs at different rates allows you to fine-tune your suspension to match specific track conditions. Softer springs improve grip on smooth tracks, whilst stiffer springs maintain ride height on rough terrain. Having multiple rates in your spares box transforms your ability to adapt quickly between practice sessions.
  • How do I know which spring rate I need for my track? — Spring rate selection depends on track surface grip and your personal driving style. The 4.6 blue rate offers a good medium-soft starting point suitable for most UK racing environments. If your buggy sits too low or bottoms out, try a stiffer rate. If it feels unstable on bumps, try a softer rate. Most competitive racers keep several rates available to quickly dial in their setup.
  • Are these genuine Team Losi Racing parts? — Yes, the TLR344027 is an official Team Losi Racing OEM component manufactured to factory specifications. Genuine parts ensure exact compatibility, consistent performance, and warranty support. When you buy from authorised RC car UK retailers like RC Model Shop, you're guaranteed authentic Team Losi Racing products.
  • Can I fit these to other brands of RC buggy? — No, these are specifically engineered for Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-series chassis and utilise the unique 16mm mounting format developed for those models. Other brands use different shock mount formats and geometries, so compatibility cannot be guaranteed. Always verify fitment before purchasing.
  • What's the difference between the 4.6 blue springs and other available rates? — Team Losi Racing produces springs in multiple rates, each colour-coded for easy identification. The 4.6 blue designation indicates a specific spring stiffness that delivers medium-soft compliance, ideal for medium-grip conditions. Softer springs are easier on your driving and provide more feel, whilst stiffer springs maintain ride height and stability but require smoother inputs.
