Overview

The Team Losi Racing Machined Shock Pistons represent precision-engineered suspension components designed specifically for competitive 1/10 scale RC buggy racing. These G3 generation shock pistons are machined to exacting tolerances and form a critical part of the suspension system on the renowned TLR 22X-4 ELITE race buggy, which carries an impressive ROAR Nationals-winning pedigree. Whether you're a serious RC racer in the UK looking to fine-tune your competition setup or an enthusiast maintaining your high-performance RC car, these machined pistons are essential replacement parts that ensure your suspension performs at its absolute best.

Team Losi Racing has built its reputation on producing podium-winning RC buggies and race kits, and this commitment to excellence extends to every component in their parts catalogue. The TLR 22X-4 ELITE is a championship-proven platform, and the factory team drivers who pilot these vehicles worldwide trust genuine TLR replacement parts to keep their buggies performing consistently at the highest level. These machined shock pistons are track-tested by TLR factory drivers under genuine competition conditions, ensuring they deliver reliable performance when it matters most. When you purchase replacement suspension components from an established manufacturer like Team Losi Racing, you're investing in proven engineering that has been validated in the most demanding racing environments.

For RC racers and enthusiasts in the UK market, sourcing authentic TLR parts ensures compatibility and maintains the exceptional quality standards that define the 22X-4 ELITE platform. These shock pistons are manufactured using the same meticulous attention to detail that makes Team Losi Racing vehicles recognised leaders in 1/10 scale electric 4WD buggy racing.

Key Features

  • Precision Machined Construction — These pistons are machined to exact specifications, delivering consistent performance and reliability through multiple races and practice sessions. Machining ensures superior tolerances compared to stamped alternatives, resulting in more predictable shock behaviour and smoother suspension action.
  • G3 Generation Compatibility — Designed specifically for the G3 generation of TLR shock systems, these pistons ensure perfect fitment and optimal suspension tuning on your TLR 22X-4 ELITE or compatible TLR buggies. G3 represents Team Losi Racing's latest generation of shock technology, incorporating refinements based on years of racing experience and feedback from factory drivers.
  • 2.3mm, 2 x 1.6mm Configuration — This specific piston hole configuration controls the flow of shock oil through the piston, directly affecting suspension damping characteristics. The 2.3mm main hole diameter combined with two 1.6mm bypass holes provides a particular balance of responsiveness and stability that suits specific track conditions and driving styles.
  • Dual Piston Set — This package includes two machined pistons, enabling you to upgrade both front and rear shocks or replace worn pistons on your existing suspension system. Having matched pairs ensures consistent suspension behaviour across both ends of your RC buggy.
  • Factory Team Approved — These are the genuine parts chosen and used by Team Losi Racing factory drivers to win tough RC races at the highest competitive levels worldwide. When you install TLR genuine parts, you're using the same components trusted by professional RC racers.
  • High-Quality Materials — Team Losi Racing applies expert engineering to component selection and manufacturing, ensuring these pistons utilise materials that provide durability and consistent performance through intensive racing schedules.

Technical Performance

The TLR Machined Shock Pistons represent critical suspension tuning components that directly influence how your 1/10 scale RC buggy performs on the track. The shock piston's design controls oil flow within the damper, which in turn determines how quickly the suspension compresses and extends in response to bumps, jumps and cornering forces. The 2.3mm main orifice combined with two 1.6mm bypass holes creates a specific damping curve suited to particular track conditions and driving preferences. Machined construction ensures each piston meets exacting dimensional standards, eliminating the tolerances and inconsistencies that can occur with stamped components. This precision is essential in competitive racing where subtle differences in suspension tuning can mean the difference between winning and finishing off the podium. The G3 shock system represents Team Losi Racing's latest suspension technology platform, incorporating refinements developed through thousands of miles of factory testing and competition experience. These machined pistons are engineered to work seamlessly within the 42mm shock bodies and with 3mm shock shafts that form the complete G3 suspension system. The quality of manufacturing directly impacts suspension responsiveness, traction, and overall handling balance on your RC buggy. For UK RC racers seeking to optimise their 1/10 scale 4WD buggy performance or simply maintain their suspension system with genuine components, these machined shock pistons deliver the reliability and precision that competitive racing demands.

What's in the Box

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What RC buggies are these shock pistons compatible with? — These machined shock pistons are specifically designed for Team Losi Racing vehicles equipped with G3 shock systems. They are primary components for the TLR 22X-4 ELITE, the championship-winning 1/10 scale electric 4WD race buggy. Verify your vehicle's shock generation before purchasing to ensure compatibility with G3 systems.
  • How do different piston hole sizes affect my RC buggy's suspension? — The piston hole configuration directly controls how shock oil flows through the damper, which determines suspension damping characteristics. Larger holes generally allow more oil flow and softer damping, whilst smaller holes restrict flow and create stiffer damping. The 2.3mm main hole with 2 x 1.6mm bypass configuration on these pistons provides a specific damping balance. If your buggy feels too stiff or too soft, TLR offers alternative piston configurations such as 2 x 1.5mm, 2 x 1.7mm, or 2 x 1.8mm options to fine-tune handling to your preferences and track conditions.
  • Why should I use genuine TLR machined pistons instead of aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine TLR parts are engineered specifically for TLR vehicles and tested extensively by factory drivers under competition conditions. The precision machining ensures consistent tolerances that deliver predictable suspension performance. Team Losi Racing's commitment to quality means these parts have been validated to work perfectly with your TLR shock system, maintaining the exceptional engineering standards that make the 22X-4 ELITE a podium-winning platform.
  • How often do shock pistons need replacing? — Shock pistons are wear items that gradually degrade through normal use, particularly the sealing surfaces. In competitive racing, regular inspection and maintenance is recommended. If you notice your suspension becoming inconsistent or less responsive, worn pistons may be the cause. Keeping spare machined pistons in your pit box ensures you can make suspension adjustments at the track and have backup parts for maintenance between races.
  • What makes machined pistons better than stamped pistons? — Machined pistons are manufactured to extremely tight tolerances, ensuring dimensional accuracy and consistent quality from one piston to the next. Stamped or moulded alternatives often have wider tolerances that can lead to inconsistent damping behaviour. For competitive RC racing where performance consistency is critical, the precision of machined components directly translates to more predictable handling and better lap times.
