Overview
The TLR Machined Shock Pistons represent genuine Team Losi Racing replacement parts engineered to the highest specifications for competitive RC racing vehicles. These precision-manufactured components are essential for maintaining optimal shock performance in your TLR buggy or truggy, especially after the intense wear and tear that comes from high-stakes track competition. Whether you're racing an 8IGHT-X/E, 8IGHT-XT/XTE, or other TLR platform, keeping genuine OEM parts in stock ensures your RC car UK setup remains track-ready between events.
RC racing places extraordinary demands on every component of your machine. The constant impacts from jumps, the lateral forces through corners, and the vibrations from high-speed acceleration all take their toll on shock internals. That's why Team Losi Racing manufactures these machined shock pistons specifically for TLR racing vehicles—they've been tested and proven by TLR factory drivers under real competition conditions. When you choose genuine TLR parts, you're investing in the same equipment trusted by professional racers to maintain consistent handling and suspension performance.
For any RC enthusiast serious about competition, maintaining a well-stocked pit box with essential replacement parts is crucial. These machined shock pistons should be part of your regular maintenance rotation, allowing you to refresh your shock systems and maintain the precise damping characteristics your TLR vehicle was engineered to deliver. Unlike generic aftermarket components, these pistons are manufactured to exact tolerances that match the specifications of your TLR shock absorbers, guaranteeing proper fit and performance.
Key Features
- Machined Construction — These shock pistons are precisely machined rather than stamped, which ensures exact tolerances and uniform performance across both units included in the package, critical for maintaining balanced suspension behaviour across the front and rear axles of your RC car.
- 1.6mm Piston Diameter — The 1.6mm specification is engineered to work with TLR G3 shock systems, providing the correct flow restriction for optimal damping and allowing your suspension to respond properly to track conditions and maintain consistent handling throughout a race.
- Genuine Team Losi Racing Manufacturing — These components are made directly by Team Losi Racing specifically for their racing vehicles, meaning they meet the exact specifications required for perfect fitment and performance in your TLR buggy or truggy without any compatibility concerns.
- Pair Included — You receive two shock pistons in this package, providing replacements for either a front and rear shock pair or allowing you to maintain spares for critical race day situations where immediate piston replacement might be necessary.
- G3 System Compatibility — Designed specifically for the TLR G3 shock platform, these pistons integrate seamlessly with other G3 shock components including seals, bushings, and housings to maintain the integrity of your complete suspension system.
- Race-Tested Performance — Every TLR part has been used and successfully track-tested by TLR factory drivers under competition conditions, meaning you're getting components proven to perform at the highest levels of RC racing rather than generic alternatives.
Technical Performance
The TLR Machined Shock Pistons represent precision engineering at its finest for competitive RC racing applications. Machined from high-quality materials to exact tolerances, these pistons are manufactured to the specifications established by Team Losi Racing through years of professional racing experience. The 1.6mm diameter is specifically calculated to work in harmony with the TLR G3 shock system, providing precise fluid flow restriction that creates the damping curve necessary for optimal suspension performance. Unlike stamped pistons that may have slight variations between units, machined construction ensures consistency between both pistons in the package, which is essential for maintaining balanced handling characteristics across your RC vehicle's suspension. The engineering behind these components reflects the demanding requirements of competitive racing, where even small variations in shock performance can mean the difference between a winning lap and falling back in the field. Quality shock pistons are essential for maintaining the suspension performance your TLR racing vehicle was engineered to deliver, and these genuine parts preserve that performance standard over multiple racing seasons when properly maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes machined shock pistons better than stamped alternatives? — Machined pistons are manufactured to exact tolerances that ensure consistent performance between both pistons in a pair, whereas stamped pistons may have slight variations that can lead to unbalanced suspension behaviour. This precision is critical for competitive RC racing where suspension consistency directly impacts lap times and handling predictability.
- Are these genuine TLR parts or aftermarket replacements? — These are genuine Team Losi Racing parts manufactured directly by TLR specifically for their racing vehicles. They're not generic aftermarket components, meaning they're engineered to exact OEM specifications and guaranteed to fit and function properly with your TLR shock system.
- Which TLR vehicles do these shock pistons fit? — These pistons are designed for TLR G3 shock systems, which are used across multiple TLR racing platforms including buggies and truggies. You should verify your specific vehicle uses G3 shocks before purchasing, as different TLR models may use different shock generations.
- How often should I replace my shock pistons? — Shock piston replacement is part of regular maintenance for competitive racers. The frequency depends on your racing intensity and track conditions. Many racers keep replacement pistons on hand in their pit box so they can refresh their shocks if they notice changes in suspension performance during an event.
- Will these improve my RC buggy's handling? — If your current pistons are worn or damaged, replacing them with fresh machined pistons will restore your suspension performance to factory specifications. This can improve handling consistency and responsiveness, particularly if your original pistons have been subjected to extensive racing use.
- Why should I choose TLR parts for my RC car UK setup? — TLR parts are engineered specifically for TLR racing vehicles and have been tested by professional factory drivers under competition conditions. Choosing genuine OEM parts ensures precise fitment, guarantees performance compatibility with your complete suspension system, and provides the reliability you need for competitive racing rather than risking compatibility issues with generic alternatives.
