Overview
The Team Losi Racing TLR Shock Piston 12mm, 1.0x5, CNC Machined (4): All 22, SCTE is a precision-engineered shock component designed for competitive RC car enthusiasts in the UK who demand the highest level of performance and reliability from their vehicles. These CNC machined shock pistons represent the gold standard in suspension tuning for Team Losi Racing All 22, SCTE scale RC buggies and trucks. Whether you're a seasoned racer preparing your RC buggy for the next competition or an experienced hobbyist looking to dial in the perfect suspension setup, these shock pistons are an essential upgrade that allows you to fine-tune your vehicle's handling characteristics with exceptional precision.
Shock pistons are critical suspension components that control the flow of shock fluid through the piston orifices, directly influencing how your RC car responds to track conditions, bumps, and cornering forces. The 1.0x5 specification indicates the piston hole diameter and configuration, which significantly affects damping characteristics. By selecting the correct shock piston size and orifice configuration, you can optimise your suspension for grip, stability, and overall performance. This four-pack includes enough pistons to outfit all four shocks on your RC vehicle, making it a practical solution for racers who want to experiment with different setups or maintain a spare set for competition day.
As an RC car enthusiast in the UK, you understand that suspension setup can be the difference between winning and losing in competitive racing. Team Losi Racing is renowned for manufacturing components to exacting standards, and these CNC machined shock pistons exemplify that commitment to quality. The precision machining ensures consistency across all four pistons in the pack, eliminating variables that could affect vehicle handling. Whether you're running a ready to run RC buggy or a custom-built race machine, upgrading to quality shock pistons like these will give you the adjustability and performance edge you need.
Key Features
- CNC Machined Construction — These shock pistons are manufactured using Computer Numerical Control machining, which guarantees precise tolerances and consistent orifice sizing across all four units in the pack. This precision engineering ensures that each piston performs identically, preventing handling inconsistencies that can result from variations in suspension components.
- 12mm Shock Compatibility — Designed specifically for 12mm diameter shock bodies, these pistons are engineered to work seamlessly with Team Losi Racing All 22 and SCTE platform vehicles. The precise fit ensures optimal fluid flow and damping control without leakage or binding.
- 1.0x5 Orifice Configuration — The 1.0mm hole diameter with 5mm depth creates a specific damping characteristic that suits particular track conditions and driving styles. This configuration is ideal for racers who need a balanced approach to suspension tuning on mixed terrain.
- Pack of Four — You receive four shock pistons, which is enough to fully outfit both front and rear shocks on your complete RC buggy or truck. This allows you to maintain your vehicle efficiently or set up multiple suspension configurations for testing and comparison.
- Team Losi Racing Genuine Component — As an official Team Losi Racing part, you can be confident in authentic manufacturing quality and compatibility with your TLR platform vehicle. These are the same components used by professional racers and Team Losi Racing factory teams worldwide.
Technical Performance
The TLR Shock Piston 12mm, 1.0x5, CNC Machined is engineered to deliver precise damping control in high-performance RC racing applications. The 1.0mm orifice diameter controls the rate at which shock fluid passes through the piston during compression and rebound cycles, directly affecting how your suspension absorbs impacts and maintains tyre contact with the track surface. The 5mm depth of the orifice configuration provides the specific flow characteristics needed for optimal handling on mixed racing surfaces. By using CNC machining, Team Losi Racing ensures that each piston in the four-pack maintains identical internal tolerances, which is crucial for consistent vehicle behaviour across all four suspension points. The 12mm diameter is specifically engineered for Team Losi Racing's All 22 and SCTE platforms, which use dedicated 12mm shock bodies. When installed correctly, these pistons work in conjunction with appropriate shock springs, seals, and shock oil to create a complete suspension system that can be fine-tuned for different track conditions, driving styles, and vehicle setups. For racers in the UK competitive RC scene, having the ability to swap between different piston orifice sizes allows you to quickly adapt your suspension setup for changing weather conditions, track surfaces, and competition formats without requiring complete shock rebuilds.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Team Losi Racing vehicles are these shock pistons compatible with? — These shock pistons are designed for Team Losi Racing All 22 and SCTE scale RC buggies and trucks that use 12mm shock bodies. They are not compatible with other shock sizes or manufacturers' vehicles, so verify your vehicle platform before purchasing.
- How do shock pistons affect RC car handling and performance? — Shock pistons control the speed at which shock fluid flows through the suspension, which directly impacts damping characteristics. The 1.0x5 orifice configuration provides a specific damping rate that influences how quickly your suspension responds to bumps, how well your tyres maintain grip during cornering, and overall vehicle stability. Experimenting with different orifice sizes allows you to optimise your setup for your local track conditions and driving style.
- Why do I need CNC machined shock pistons instead of standard pistons? — CNC machining ensures extremely tight tolerances and consistency between all four pistons in the pack. This consistency is critical for balanced suspension performance across all four shocks on your vehicle. Standard pistons may have variations that cause uneven handling, while CNC machined pistons guarantee identical performance from front to back and left to right.
- What is the difference between 1.0x5 and other piston configurations like 1.1x5? — The first number represents the orifice hole diameter in millimetres, while the second number represents the depth. A 1.0x5 piston has a slightly smaller hole than a 1.1x5, which means it restricts shock fluid flow more, resulting in slightly firmer damping. Team Losi Racing offers multiple configurations so racers can fine-tune their suspension for different conditions—softer pistons for bumpy tracks and firmer pistons for smoother surfaces.
- Can I use these shock pistons with different shock oil weights? — Yes, shock pistons work in combination with your choice of shock oil weight. Heavier oil creates firmer damping, while lighter oil allows faster suspension response. By combining different piston orifice sizes with different shock oil weights, you can achieve a wide range of suspension characteristics to suit various track conditions and racing scenarios.
- Are these suitable for beginners or only for experienced racers? — While these are genuine Team Losi Racing components used by professionals, they are suitable for any RC racer who owns a compatible TLR vehicle and wants to optimise their suspension. Beginners benefit from having the flexibility to experiment and learn how suspension tuning affects handling, though understanding the effects requires some experience and testing.
