Overview
The LOS Rear Springs, Medium, Silver (2) for the Losi Super Baja Rey represent an essential suspension upgrade for RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune their vehicle's handling and performance characteristics. These genuine Losi OEM suspension components are specifically engineered for the Super Baja Rey platform, one of the most capable and popular desert racing RC vehicles available in the UK market today. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor, a weekend basher, or an enthusiast exploring the world of RC cars and trucks, having the correct suspension geometry and spring rates is absolutely crucial to achieving optimal performance on varied terrain.
Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to transform your RC car's behaviour on different surfaces and racing conditions. The medium spring rate option provides a balanced approach to suspension compliance, offering enough support for high-speed running whilst maintaining enough compliance to absorb impacts and maintain traction over rough ground. These silver-coloured rear springs come as a matched pair, ensuring consistent performance across both rear corners of your Super Baja Rey. The quality engineering and precision manufacturing that Losi applies to all their suspension components means these springs will provide reliable, predictable performance lap after lap, whether you're racing competitively or enjoying recreational bashing sessions.
For UK RC hobbyists, maintaining and upgrading suspension components is a straightforward way to keep your vehicle running at peak performance. As wear occurs to original springs, or as you experiment with different suspension setups to suit various racing conditions, having spare springs readily available ensures minimal downtime. The LOS Rear Springs are genuine OEM parts, meaning they meet exact Losi specifications and are manufactured to the same exacting standards as the original equipment fitted to your Super Baja Rey.
Key Features
- Medium Spring Rate — The medium rating strikes an ideal balance between providing adequate suspension support for high-speed running whilst maintaining sufficient compliance to absorb impacts and rough terrain, making this option suitable for a wide range of driving conditions and skill levels across the UK RC community.
- Matched Pair — These springs come as a set of two identical units, ensuring perfectly balanced suspension geometry and consistent handling characteristics across both rear corners of your Super Baja Rey.
- Genuine Losi OEM Component — Manufactured to exact Losi factory specifications, these springs guarantee perfect fitment and performance with your Super Baja Rey, eliminating any compatibility concerns and ensuring they perform exactly as the vehicle was designed to operate.
- Silver Anodised Finish — The durable silver anodised coating not only provides an attractive appearance that complements the overall aesthetic of your Super Baja Rey, but also offers corrosion resistance to protect the springs during outdoor RC racing and bashing sessions.
- Direct Replacement Component — These springs are purpose-designed as a direct replacement for worn or damaged original springs, making installation straightforward for any RC enthusiast with basic maintenance knowledge.
- Performance Tuning Application — Beyond simple replacement, these medium springs serve as an excellent tuning component for enthusiasts looking to adjust their vehicle's suspension characteristics to suit different racing conditions, terrain types, or personal driving preferences.
Technical Performance
The LOS Rear Springs, Medium, Silver are precision-engineered suspension components manufactured to meet the demanding requirements of modern RC desert racing. Losi has established itself as a leading manufacturer of high-performance RC vehicles, with the Super Baja Rey representing their cutting-edge engineering in desert racing truck design. These rear springs play a critical role in the vehicle's overall suspension system, which is engineered to manage the extreme forces generated during acceleration, braking, cornering, and impact absorption across uneven desert terrain. The medium spring rate provides the optimal balance for most drivers and conditions, offering sufficient stiffness to maintain ride height under load and during aggressive driving whilst remaining compliant enough to follow terrain undulations and absorb rocks, roots, and other obstacles encountered during off-road RC running. The silver anodised finish indicates quality manufacturing processes and provides a protective coating that resists the corrosive effects of moisture and salt, ensuring longevity even in challenging British weather conditions. As part of Losi's commitment to performance and reliability, these springs have been tested extensively to ensure they maintain their specifications throughout their service life, providing predictable, consistent suspension behaviour mile after mile.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these genuine Losi parts for my Super Baja Rey? — Yes, these are genuine OEM Losi components manufactured to exact factory specifications. The part number Z-LOS254047 is the official Losi designation for these medium rear springs, ensuring perfect compatibility and performance with your Super Baja Rey platform.
- What is the difference between medium, soft and hard spring rates? — Spring rate significantly affects how your RC vehicle handles different terrain and driving conditions. Medium springs, like these, provide a balanced approach offering good support for high-speed running whilst maintaining compliance for traction and impact absorption. Softer springs allow more suspension travel and compliance but may cause excessive body roll, whilst harder springs offer better support and stability but can reduce traction on rough terrain. Medium represents an ideal starting point for most drivers and conditions.
- When should I replace my suspension springs? — Suspension springs should be replaced when they become visibly damaged, bent, or lose their tension over time. Even if not visually damaged, springs gradually lose their original properties through repeated compression cycles. If you notice your RC car sitting lower than normal, handling inconsistently between the front and rear, or experiencing poor traction despite other components being in good condition, worn springs may be the culprit. Having spare springs on hand is a smart approach to minimise downtime during the racing season.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my Super Baja Rey? — For optimal handling balance, it's recommended to use matching spring rates front and rear, or at minimum to use consistent rates across corresponding axles (both front springs matching, both rear springs matching). Mixing significantly different spring rates can create unpredictable handling characteristics and make it difficult to diagnose suspension tuning issues. That said, experienced tuners sometimes deliberately use slightly different rates to fine-tune vehicle behaviour for specific conditions or racing styles.
- How do I install these rear springs on my Super Baja Rey? — The installation process typically involves removing the shock absorber or suspension arm from the mounting points, carefully removing the old spring, and installing the new spring in its place. Detailed installation instructions are available in your Super Baja Rey manual or through Losi's official support resources. If you're unfamiliar with suspension work, consulting online RC forums or visiting an experienced RC hobby shop in the UK can provide additional guidance.
- What other suspension components might I need to upgrade at the same time? — When replacing springs, many enthusiasts also consider upgrading shock absorbers, damper fluid viscosity, anti-roll bars, or suspension geometry components depending on their goals. However, replacing springs alone is a straightforward way to refresh your suspension system without requiring additional modifications.
