Overview

The HobbyZone Champ Bare Fuselage (Z-HBZ4967) is an essential replacement component for owners of the HobbyZone Champ RC aircraft. Whether you're repairing a damaged airframe or building a complete aircraft from spare parts, this bare fuselage provides the structural foundation you need to get your ultra-micro RC plane back in the air. As a dedicated spare part for one of the most popular beginner-friendly RC aircraft available, this fuselage is designed to exacting standards to ensure compatibility and reliable performance across the Champ range.

The Champ has earned its reputation as an outstanding training aircraft for both novice and experienced pilots alike. Its forgiving flight characteristics and robust construction make it ideal for recreational flying and skill development. However, accidents happen, and having access to genuine HobbyZone replacement parts ensures that you can restore your aircraft to factory specifications. This bare fuselage is the core component around which you'll build or rebuild your complete Champ airframe, making it an invaluable spare to keep on hand if you're a regular Champ pilot in the UK RC hobby community.

Stocking genuine HobbyZone spares means you can be confident in the quality and fit of every component. The Champ bare fuselage integrates seamlessly with other HobbyZone Champ parts and optional upgrades available from specialist UK RC retailers. Whether you're recovering from a crash, upgrading your existing aircraft, or assembling a backup model, this bare fuselage represents the starting point for a fully functional ultra-micro RC aircraft that delivers consistent, predictable performance.

Key Features

  • Genuine HobbyZone Component — This is an authentic HobbyZone spare part manufactured to the same exacting standards as the original equipment, ensuring perfect compatibility with Champ flight systems, motors, servos and control linkages.
  • Lightweight Ultra-Micro Design — The fuselage is engineered for the ultra-micro category, keeping total aircraft weight minimal whilst maintaining structural integrity, which is essential for stable, responsive flight characteristics.
  • Compatible with Champ Variants — This bare fuselage works across the HobbyZone Champ range, integrating with landing gear sets, main wings, complete tail assemblies, and other Champ spares to create a fully functional aircraft.
  • Supports Multiple Configuration Options — The fuselage accommodates various motor types, gearbox options, and electronic control systems, allowing you to customise your build with compatible HobbyZone, E-flite, and Spektrum components.
  • Durable Construction — Built to withstand the stresses of regular flying and the occasional landing impact, the fuselage is engineered from materials selected for strength-to-weight ratio and durability in typical UK flying conditions.
  • Easy Integration with Spares Ecosystem — HobbyZone maintains an extensive spare parts catalogue for the Champ, including propellers and hubs, gearboxes and brushed motors, landing gear, tail sets, wings, pushrods, linkages, micro servos, flight control boards, and batteries, all designed to work seamlessly with this fuselage.

Technical Performance

The HobbyZone Champ Bare Fuselage is engineered as the central structural component of an ultra-micro RC aircraft. As a bare fuselage, it provides the fuselage tube and mounting points necessary to accept HobbyZone Champ landing gear sets (such as the HBZ4918), main wings (HBZ4920), complete tail assemblies (HBZ4931), pushrods and linkages (HBZ4921), and motor/gearbox combinations. The fuselage is designed to work with HobbyZone's brushed motor systems, including options such as the HBZ4930 (Gearbox with Motor) or HBZ4929 (Gearbox Only) depending on your configuration requirements. The construction prioritises lightweight performance essential for ultra-micro flight, whilst maintaining sufficient structural rigidity to handle the forces generated during normal operation, manoeuvres, and landings. The fuselage accommodates standard 1S LiPo battery systems common across the HobbyZone product line, compatible with chargers such as the E-flite Micro 1S 350mA USB Charger. When assembled with appropriate wings, tail components, landing gear, and propulsion systems from the extensive HobbyZone spare parts range, the fuselage delivers the stable, predictable flight performance that has made the Champ a favourite for RC pilots in the UK hobby community. This bare fuselage represents the foundation upon which you build a complete, flight-ready aircraft capable of consistent performance across varied flying conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a bare fuselage and why would I need one? — A bare fuselage is the fuselage tube and structural frame of an RC aircraft without wings, tail, landing gear, or power system attached. You would need one if your current fuselage has been damaged in a crash, or if you're building multiple Champ aircraft from spare parts. It's the foundation component that all other parts attach to.
  • Which HobbyZone Champ variants does this bare fuselage fit? — The HBZ4967 is designed for the HobbyZone Champ range. To ensure perfect fitment, check your specific model variant (original Champ, RTF, or S+) and match the part number from your aircraft's manual, as some spares are model-specific.
  • What other parts do I need to complete a flying aircraft from this bare fuselage? — You'll need a landing gear set (HBZ4918), main wing (HBZ4920), complete tail assembly (HBZ4931), motor and gearbox system (HBZ4930 includes motor, or combine HBZ4929 gearbox with HBZ4070 motor), pushrods and linkages (HBZ4921), propeller (HBZ4401), propeller shaft (HBZ4904), micro servos, a 1S LiPo battery, charger, and a compatible radio system with receiver.
  • Can I use parts from other manufacturers with this HobbyZone fuselage? — Many components from HobbyZone's product range, as well as compatible E-flite and Spektrum parts, will work with this fuselage. However, always verify compatibility using your aircraft manual and check part numbers carefully. Some legacy ParkZone components may also be compatible with HobbyZone aircraft.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — The bare fuselage itself is a component requiring assembly and integration with other parts. It's suitable for builders who have experience assembling RC aircraft or who have guidance from an experienced pilot or retailer. If you're completely new to RC, consider starting with a Ready to Fly (RTF) or Bind and Fly (BNF) Champ package instead.
  • How long does it take to build a complete aircraft from this bare fuselage? — Assembly time depends on your experience and familiarity with RC aircraft construction. Most builders allow several hours to properly assemble a fuselage with all components, ensuring secure linkages, correct control movement directions, and balanced weight distribution.
  • What battery does this fuselage work with? — The HobbyZone Champ uses 1S LiPo batteries (single-cell, 3.7V nominal). Compatible options include Spektrum batteries such as the SPMX1501S50 (150mAh) or SPMX2101S50 (210mAh), and E-flite batteries such as the EFLB1501S25 (150mAh), all with JST connectors compatible with HobbyZone systems.
  • Where can I find assembly instructions for building this fuselage? — Detailed assembly instructions should be included with your Champ aircraft manual. If you don't have the manual, contact RC Model Shop's knowledgeable team for guidance on setup and assembly. Our expert staff can provide fitment advice and help troubleshoot any compatibility questions.
