Overview
The E-flite Leading Edge Slats for Timber RC aircraft are genuine OEM replacement parts designed specifically for the E-flite Timber range of STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) model aircraft. These slats are essential components that enhance the aerodynamic performance and control characteristics of your Timber, making them a critical upgrade or replacement part for any RC plane enthusiast in the UK looking to maintain or improve their aircraft's performance. Whether you're a seasoned RC pilot or an intermediate flyer exploring the world of electric RC planes, having genuine E-flite spares on hand ensures your model performs at its best and maintains the aerodynamic integrity that E-flite engineered into the design.
Leading edge slats are sophisticated aerodynamic devices that deploy from the wing's leading edge, particularly during low-speed flight phases such as take-off and landing. By using the E-flite genuine part, you're ensuring that your Timber maintains the precise airflow characteristics and control response that the aircraft was designed to deliver. This is especially important for STOL aircraft like the Timber, where efficient slow-speed flight and excellent control authority are paramount to safe, enjoyable flying. RC Model Shop stocks this component as part of our comprehensive range of E-flite Timber 1.5m spares, allowing UK-based pilots to source authentic replacement parts with confidence.
If you're maintaining your Timber after regular flights, upgrading from damaged components, or building a complete spare parts inventory for competition or regular weekend flying, the Leading Edge Slats represent an investment in genuine quality and reliable performance. Our UK RC retailer stocks this part in-house, ensuring fast dispatch and the ability to get back in the air quickly without extended wait times.
Key Features
- Genuine E-flite OEM Component — This is an authentic manufacturer-supplied part, ensuring perfect fit and function with your E-flite Timber aircraft. Using genuine spares means you maintain the aircraft's design integrity and aerodynamic performance as originally engineered.
- Leading Edge Slat Design — These slats are specifically engineered to deploy from the wing's leading edge, enhancing lift generation during low-speed flight and improving aircraft control response during critical phases such as take-off and landing, making your STOL aircraft even more capable.
- STOL Performance Enhancement — The Timber is renowned for its exceptional short-field capability, and these leading edge slats contribute significantly to that performance by improving airflow management and maintaining control authority at slower airspeeds.
- Drop-In Replacement — Designed as a direct replacement for damaged or worn original slats, these parts require no modification and install cleanly into your Timber airframe, making repair and maintenance straightforward.
- Durable Construction — Built to E-flite's quality standards using materials proven in thousands of hours of RC flying, these slats are designed to withstand regular use and provide long service life.
- Part of Comprehensive Spares Range — These slats are one component in E-flite's complete range of Timber replacement parts, allowing you to source all necessary upgrades and spares from a single trusted manufacturer.
Technical Performance
The Leading Edge Slats for the E-flite Timber are precision aerodynamic components manufactured to exact specifications to match the wing geometry and performance envelope of the Timber airframe. These slats represent advanced RC aircraft engineering, designed to optimise airflow over the wing surface during slow-speed flight regimes where STOL performance is critical. By deploying from the leading edge, they modify the pressure distribution around the wing section, allowing the aircraft to maintain controlled flight at lower airspeeds whilst preserving adequate control authority. The construction utilises proven materials selected for their balance of durability, weight, and aerodynamic efficiency. The slats integrate seamlessly with the Timber's control systems, responding to pilot input through established linkage mechanisms. For pilots operating the Timber in realistic bush flying or backcountry scenarios, or for those seeking to maximise landing and take-off performance in confined spaces, properly functioning leading edge slats are essential. The component has been tested extensively across thousands of Timber aircraft worldwide, making it a proven enhancement to the aircraft's STOL capabilities. Whether you're flying leisurely cross-country sorties or pushing the boundaries of what's possible in RC short-field operations, maintaining these critical aerodynamic surfaces in perfect condition ensures optimal performance and safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the purpose of leading edge slats on an RC aircraft? — Leading edge slats are aerodynamic devices that deploy from the wing's leading edge to improve airflow characteristics during low-speed flight. They increase the wing's effective lifting capacity and improve control response during take-off and landing, making them particularly valuable on STOL aircraft like the Timber where slow-speed performance is essential.
- Are these slats compatible with all Timber models? — These slats are specifically designed for the E-flite Timber range. To ensure compatibility with your particular model, we recommend checking your aircraft's product code or consulting the E-flite Turbo Timber 1.5m Instruction Manual. Our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop can assist in confirming compatibility for your specific variant.
- Why should I use genuine E-flite parts rather than alternatives? — Genuine OEM parts are engineered to precise specifications that match your aircraft's design. Using authentic E-flite components ensures perfect fit, maintains aerodynamic integrity, and preserves the performance characteristics that make the Timber such an exceptional STOL aircraft. Counterfeit or incompatible alternatives can negatively impact flight safety and performance.
- Can I repair damaged slats or must I replace them? — For optimal performance and safety, damaged or significantly worn slats should be replaced with new genuine components rather than attempted repairs. The precision engineering of these aerodynamic surfaces means that repairs are rarely effective, and replacement ensures full functionality and reliability.
- How often should leading edge slats be inspected or replaced? — Slats should be visually inspected before each flying session for damage, cracks, or deformation. With proper care, they should provide extended service life. However, any visible damage should prompt immediate replacement to maintain the Timber's aerodynamic performance and control characteristics.
- Is this a beginner-friendly part to install? — Installation of leading edge slats requires some mechanical aptitude and familiarity with RC aircraft assembly. If you're new to RC aircraft maintenance, our experienced team at RC Model Shop is happy to provide guidance or discuss installation procedures over the phone at 01543 577278 or via WhatsApp.
- What other Timber spares might I need? — We recommend keeping common wear items in your flight box, including spare propellers, main landing gear, and hinges. Our comprehensive Timber 1.5m spares inventory includes fuselages, wings, battery hatches, landing gear sets, wheel sets, floats, control linkages, pushrods, cowlings, motor mounts, and much more, all available from RC Model Shop.
