Overview

The BLH 5x8x2mm Radial Bearing (model Z-BLH3440) is an essential precision component for the Blade 180 CFX helicopter, one of the most popular micro RC helicopters in the UK market. This genuine Blade replacement bearing is designed to support the critical rotating assemblies that keep your helicopter flying smoothly and reliably. Whether you are a seasoned RC helicopter pilot maintaining your fleet or a hobbyist looking to repair after a crash, this radial bearing is an indispensable spare part that will restore your aircraft to factory specifications and ensure optimal performance during flight.

RC helicopter enthusiasts across the UK rely on genuine Blade components like this bearing to maintain the precision engineering and reliability that makes the 180 CFX such a popular choice for micro helicopter flying. Bearings are subject to wear over time due to continuous rotation and friction during normal operation, and replacing worn bearings is a fundamental part of preventative maintenance for any RC helicopter owner. This 5x8x2mm radial bearing is manufactured to exact tolerances, ensuring perfect fit and function within your Blade 180 CFX airframe.

Purchasing genuine spare parts from an authorised RC retailer like RC Model Shop means you get authentic Blade engineering, compatibility guarantees, and the peace of mind that comes with using manufacturer-approved components. Keep a spare bearing in your field box for quick maintenance swaps and ensure your Blade 180 CFX stays in top flying condition throughout the season.

Key Features

  • Genuine Blade Component — This is an authentic Blade replacement bearing manufactured to the same quality standards as the original equipment fitted to your Blade 180 CFX helicopter, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliable performance.
  • Precision Radial Bearing Design — The radial bearing configuration is engineered to support side-loading forces and smooth rotation of critical helicopter assemblies, maintaining the precision that flybarless stability and smooth control authority depend upon.
  • 5x8x2mm Dimensions — The specific size of this bearing is optimised for use within the Blade 180 CFX drivetrain and rotor assembly, fitting perfectly in the designated bearing pocket without modification or adjustment.
  • Essential Replacement Component — Bearings experience wear during normal RC helicopter operation and become a maintenance necessity rather than an optional upgrade, making this bearing an essential item for any serious Blade 180 CFX pilot.
  • Crash Repair Ready — This bearing is one of the key components to have on hand for crash repairs and rebuilds, allowing you to quickly restore your helicopter to flying condition without extended downtime.

Technical Performance

The BLH 5x8x2mm Radial Bearing is manufactured with precision steel construction to withstand the continuous rotational forces and vibration that characterise micro helicopter flight. Radial bearings are specifically designed to support loads perpendicular to the axis of rotation, making them essential for helicopter rotor assemblies and drivetrain components that must maintain precise alignment and smooth rotation at high speed. The 5mm inner diameter, 8mm outer diameter, and 2mm width provide exact fit within the Blade 180 CFX helicopter frame, with tolerances held to tight manufacturing specifications to ensure that when installed, the bearing operates with minimal play and maximum efficiency. The bearing operates efficiently across the full throttle range of the 180 CFX, from idle up to maximum rotor RPM, without excess friction or noise. Genuine Blade bearings like this component are made from hardened bearing-grade steel with smooth raceways, allowing the balls to roll freely whilst maintaining structural integrity even after repeated use and exposure to the stresses of micro helicopter flight. For UK RC helicopter pilots operating their Blade 180 CFX in regular flying conditions, replacing bearings during routine maintenance ensures that your helicopter maintains the responsive handling and smooth vibration-free flight characteristics you expect from this popular micro helicopter platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When should I replace the radial bearing on my Blade 180 CFX? — Bearings should be inspected regularly during routine maintenance checks, particularly after crashes or hard flying sessions. If you notice grinding noises, excessive vibration, or loose feeling in the rotor head or drivetrain during flight, it is time to replace the bearing. Many RC helicopter pilots replace bearings as part of preventative maintenance at the start of each flying season or after every 20-30 hours of accumulated flight time.
  • Is this bearing compatible with other Blade helicopter models? — This bearing is specifically manufactured for the Blade 180 CFX helicopter. Whilst the 5x8x2mm size may be used in other RC helicopter models, you should always verify part compatibility using the model-specific parts list or by consulting with an RC specialist to ensure you purchase the correct bearing for your helicopter.
  • Do I need any special tools to install this bearing? — Installation typically requires access to bearing pullers and installation tools appropriate for the specific bearing pocket within your helicopter frame. The Blade instruction manual and exploded view diagrams will guide you through the disassembly and reassembly process. Many UK RC hobbyists prefer to have experienced technicians perform bearing installation to ensure proper seating and alignment.
  • Why is bearing maintenance important for RC helicopter flight? — Worn or damaged bearings cause excessive friction, vibration, and noise during flight, and can lead to premature failure of rotor assemblies and drivetrain components. Keeping bearings in good condition ensures smooth, responsive helicopter handling and extends the overall lifespan of your aircraft.
  • Can I use non-genuine bearings instead? — Whilst aftermarket bearings may be cheaper, genuine Blade components are manufactured to exact specifications and tolerances that match your 180 CFX perfectly. Using genuine bearings ensures reliability and helps maintain the factory performance characteristics your helicopter was designed to deliver.
