Key Features
- M3x6mm Specification — These screws are precisely sized at M3 diameter with 6mm length, making them the correct fitment for designated points on your Axial Wraith and compatible Axial RC models. Proper sizing ensures secure fastening without damage to component threads.
- Hex Socket Head Design — The hex socket head allows for precise tightening using an appropriately sized hex key, providing excellent torque control and reducing the risk of stripping compared to traditional Phillips or slot-head fasteners. This design is favoured in quality RC components where reliability is essential.
- Flat Head Profile — The flat head design sits flush with the mounting surface, creating a clean, professional appearance on your RC vehicle and allowing components to mate properly without protrusion that could catch or cause clearance issues.
- Tapping Screw Design — These are tapping screws, meaning they create their own threads as they're installed into pre-drilled holes, making them ideal for assembly and reassembly without requiring separate tapped holes. This design simplifies the building and maintenance process.
- Black Finish — The black powder-coated finish provides aesthetic consistency with Axial components whilst offering protection against corrosion and wear, maintaining appearance even with regular use in dusty or damp RC environments.
- Pack of 10 — This generous quantity ensures you have multiple spares for repairs, replacements, or future projects, reducing downtime and keeping your RC adventures uninterrupted.
- Genuine Axial Component — These are authentic Axial parts manufactured to original specifications, guaranteeing perfect fitment and performance compatibility with your Axial RC vehicles without compromise.
Technical Performance
The AXIAL Hex Socket Tap Flat Head M3x6mm screws represent the engineering standard Axial applies to fastening solutions for their RC vehicles. At M3 diameter, these screws provide the optimal balance between clamping force and thread engagement for the chassis and component assembly points found on Axial models including the Wraith. The 6mm length is precisely calculated to penetrate through mounting flanges whilst avoiding bottom-out conditions that could strip threads or create structural weakness. The hex socket head design, when properly tightened with a quality hex key, distributes load evenly across the fastening area, preventing the head from deforming under vibration and ensuring consistent clamping force throughout your RC driving sessions. The tapping screw design means installation is straightforward—simply pilot-drill the appropriate hole size and install directly into aluminium or composite components without requiring separate threaded inserts. The black finish is applied through powder coating, which adheres strongly to the steel substrate and resists the corrosion that can occur when RC vehicles are exposed to moisture, dust, and abrasive terrain common in UK RC driving conditions. Whether you're rebuilding a Wraith after a hard bash session or performing preventative maintenance on your RC collection, these screws deliver the reliability and performance you expect from an authorised Axial component.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Axial RC models are these screws compatible with? — These M3x6mm hex socket tapping screws are specifically designed for the Axial Wraith and are compatible with other Axial RC models that use M3 fastening points. Before ordering, consult your vehicle's parts diagram or instruction manual to confirm these are the correct screws for your specific model and application.
- Why should I choose genuine Axial screws instead of generic fasteners? — Genuine Axial components are engineered to precise tolerances and material specifications that ensure perfect fitment, proper thread engagement, and reliability. Using authentic parts protects your investment in your RC vehicle and maintains the engineered performance and durability that Axial models are known for. Generic screws may vary in dimensions, material quality, and finish, potentially leading to poor fitment, stripping, or corrosion issues.
- How do I properly install these tapping screws? — First, determine the correct pilot hole size for M3 tapping screws (typically 2.5mm diameter). Drill the pilot hole perpendicular to the mounting surface to the required depth, then insert the hex socket screw and tighten using a quality hex key. Apply steady pressure—do not over-tighten, as excessive force can strip threads or crack composite components. Tighten until you feel resistance and the fastener is snug, then quarter-turn more for security.
- What size hex key do I need for these screws? — The source documentation does not specify the exact hex key size for these M3x6mm fasteners. Consult your Axial Wraith parts manual or contact our team at RC Model Shop for the precise hex key size required to avoid damaging the socket during installation.
- Can I reuse these screws if I disassemble my RC vehicle? — Yes, these tapping screws can typically be reused several times. However, if you notice thread damage, corrosion, or the screw no longer holds securely, replace it immediately. Worn fasteners can lead to component looseness during use, resulting in poor handling and potential damage to your RC car.
- Are these screws suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. These are standard replacement fasteners that any RC enthusiast, regardless of experience level, should be able to install with basic tools. The hex socket design actually makes installation easier than Phillips or slot-head screws, as it reduces the risk of slipping and damaging the fastener.
- Why buy a pack of 10 when I might only need a few? — Having spare fasteners is essential in the RC hobby. Screws can be lost during disassembly, stripped during over-tightening, or misplaced during transport and storage. A pack of 10 ensures you'll always have spares on hand, allowing you to perform maintenance and repairs without delays or trips back to your local RC hobby shop.
- Do these screws come with any coating or lubricant? — These screws feature a black powder-coated finish for corrosion protection and aesthetic consistency. No additional lubricant is applied. If you're installing them in difficult locations or want to ease future removal, you may apply a small amount of light machine oil before installation, though this is not necessary for normal use.
