Technical Performance
The Axial AR60 Steering Upgrade Kit Aluminum represents a significant engineering improvement over standard plastic steering links found on stock AR60 vehicles. The shift from polymer-based components to precision-machined aluminium addresses one of the key wear points in any RC crawler or trail-based vehicle—the steering linkage. Aluminium offers superior rigidity, which means less deflection under load and more consistent steering geometry throughout extended driving sessions. This is particularly important when tackling rocky terrain, navigating tight obstacles, or maintaining precise line control during technical trail running. The M4 rod end set specification ensures compatibility with other precision Axial components, and the inclusion of cable routing guides and bull horns demonstrates Axial's commitment to providing a complete, integrated upgrade solution. The engineering quality is reflected in the precision machining of the links themselves, which maintain tight tolerances to eliminate play and ensure that steering inputs translate directly into vehicle movement. For UK RC car enthusiasts working with AR60-equipped vehicles, this upgrade delivers the kind of measurable performance improvement that justifies the investment, particularly for those who run regularly and demand consistency from their equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Axial AR60 Steering Upgrade Kit compatible with my vehicle? — This kit is designed specifically for vehicles equipped with the Axial AR60 axle platform. The source confirms compatibility with the Axial 1/10 SCX10 II Deadbolt 4WD Brushed RTR, and it will work with any other vehicle using the AR60 axle assembly. Verify your vehicle's axle type before ordering.
- What is included in the M4 rod end set? — The M4 rod end set (AX31186) comes with the main rod ends plus bull horns for steering linkage connection, an ammo can for spares storage, and four cable routing guides to keep wires organised and prevent snagging on moving components during operation.
- Why upgrade from plastic to aluminium steering links? — Plastic steering links can flex under load and develop play over time as they wear, leading to imprecise steering response and unpredictable handling. Aluminium's superior rigidity ensures that steering geometry remains consistent throughout use, delivering more accurate and responsive control of your RC vehicle.
- Is installation difficult for someone new to RC maintenance? — The kit includes all necessary hardware and is designed for straightforward installation on AR60-equipped vehicles. If you have basic RC mechanical knowledge and standard hex tools, you should be able to complete the upgrade. Consulting Axial's assembly guides or seeking advice from experienced RC enthusiasts at a local club can help if you're unfamiliar with suspension work.
- Will this kit improve my steering response on the trail? — Yes. By eliminating the flex and play associated with plastic steering links, the aluminium upgrade delivers more immediate and predictable steering response, allowing you to navigate obstacles with greater precision and confidence, particularly on technical terrain where precise line control is essential.
- What makes this a genuine Axial part rather than an aftermarket alternative? — This is an official Axial component (part number Z-AX31428) manufactured to OEM specifications with Axial's engineering standards and quality assurance.
