Overview
The AXIAL Spring 14x54mm 3.4 lbs/in Soft White (2) Z-AX30227 is an essential suspension upgrade component for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision performance from their RC car setups. These soft-rate coil springs are engineered specifically for Axial RC vehicles, providing the compliance and comfort needed for off-road exploration, trail crawling, and technical terrain navigation. Whether you're a seasoned RC crawler enthusiast or an intermediate builder looking to fine-tune your suspension geometry, these replacement springs deliver the responsive handling characteristics that separate a well-tuned RC model from an ordinary one.
Suspension tuning is one of the most rewarding aspects of RC car customisation, and springs are the foundation of that system. The 3.4 lbs/in spring rate sits in the softer range of the Axial spring lineup, making it ideal for drivers who prioritise ground-following capability, reduced body roll, and maximum traction on uneven surfaces. This pair of springs allows you to experiment with suspension geometry and find the perfect balance between comfort and control for your specific driving style and terrain. For RC car UK enthusiasts who take their hobby seriously, having multiple spring rate options in your spares box is simply smart preparation.
Axial Racing is renowned throughout the ready to run RC community for manufacturing components that meet exacting standards, and these springs exemplify that commitment to quality. The soft white finish provides easy visual identification of spring rate when managing multiple suspension setups. Stock level permitting, these springs are available for order from RC Model Shop, your trusted source for genuine Axial Racing spares and upgrades.
Key Features
- Soft 3.4 lbs/in Spring Rate — The moderate soft rating allows maximum suspension articulation and wheel travel, meaning your RC crawler maintains better ground contact over obstacles and rough terrain, resulting in improved traction and stability when navigating technical trails or rocky ground.
- 14x54mm Dimensions — These springs are precisely engineered to fit specific Axial RC model suspension systems, ensuring perfect compatibility and correct suspension geometry when installed on compatible vehicles.
- White Colour Coding — The distinctive white finish provides instant visual identification of this spring rate, making it easy to quickly swap springs between vehicles or manage multiple suspension configurations without confusion or installation errors.
- Genuine Axial Manufacturing — As authentic Axial Racing components, these springs meet the same rigorous quality standards as original equipment, guaranteeing consistent performance and durability across many RC sessions.
- Pair Quantity — This package includes two springs, providing the complete set needed for one axle or allowing paired testing on front and rear axles for comprehensive suspension tuning.
Technical Performance
The AXIAL Spring 14x54mm represents the engineering excellence that RC enthusiasts have come to expect from Axial Racing components. At 3.4 lbs/in, this spring rate occupies the softer end of the performance spectrum, making it particularly suited for low-speed precision driving, obstacle navigation, and maximum articulation scenarios. The 14-millimetre outer diameter and 54-millimetre length create a compact package that integrates seamlessly into Axial suspension designs, maintaining correct ride height and preventing premature binding or bottoming out on challenging terrain. The soft white colour finish not only aids visual identification but also represents Axial's standardised colour-coding system that helps builders maintain organisation when managing multiple spring rates. These coil springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances that ensure consistent spring rates across both units in the pair, preventing handling inconsistencies that could result from springs with variable characteristics. The construction quality ensures these springs maintain their performance characteristics through hundreds of RC driving sessions, resisting fatigue and maintaining their intended compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Axial RC models are compatible with the Z-AX30227 springs? — These 14x54mm soft springs are designed for specific Axial RC models that use this suspension geometry. Consult your vehicle's parts manual or contact RC Model Shop's expert team to confirm compatibility with your particular Axial vehicle before purchase.
- What is the difference between soft, medium and firm spring rates? — Soft springs like these 3.4 lbs/in units allow maximum suspension travel and wheel articulation, absorbing bigger impacts and maintaining ground contact on rough terrain, but may feel less responsive on smooth surfaces. Firmer spring rates reduce suspension movement, improving handling precision on smooth ground but reducing compliance on obstacles. Medium rates offer a balance between these characteristics.
- How do I know which spring rate is right for my RC car? — Spring selection depends on your driving style, terrain, and vehicle weight. Softer springs suit technical crawling and obstacle navigation, whilst firmer rates suit faster driving and smoother terrain. Start with the vehicle manufacturer's recommended spring rate, then experiment by swapping springs to fine-tune your setup.
- Can I mix different spring rates on the same vehicle? — Mixing spring rates is an advanced tuning technique that creates asymmetrical suspension geometry. This is generally not recommended for beginners, as it can cause handling imbalances. Most drivers keep matched spring rates on the same axle.
- How often should I replace RC suspension springs? — Coil springs are highly durable components that rarely require replacement due to normal wear. However, springs can lose their rate over time with heavy use, or may break if damaged by severe impacts. Keeping spare springs in your toolbox ensures you can quickly diagnose suspension issues during RC sessions.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Suspension springs are replacement and upgrade components rather than complete vehicles, so they're suitable for builders with basic RC assembly knowledge. If you're new to RC and unsure about spring installation, our expert team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance on proper suspension setup and tuning.
