Overview
The ARRMA dBoots Backflip Tires & Inserts represent a premium tyre solution for large-scale RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking reliable performance across diverse terrain. These 1/5 scale tyres are specifically engineered for the ARRMA Outcast 4X4 8S BLX EXB brushless stunt truck and other compatible 1/5 scale vehicles, delivering the traction and durability demanded by serious RC car UK hobbyists. Whether you're bashing on loose terrain, tackling hardpack surfaces, or exploring mixed ground conditions, the dBoots Backflip tyres provide the grip and responsiveness that sets quality ready-to-run RC trucks apart from entry-level alternatives.
Manufactured by ARRMA, a brand recognised for engineering excellence in large-scale brushless RC vehicles, these tyres come complete with foam inserts that work in harmony with the tyre structure to deliver optimised suspension characteristics and shock absorption. The combination of aggressive tread pattern and durable material compound makes these tyres an investment in extended performance and reduced wear, ensuring you get maximum value from your RC truck setup. For UK RC enthusiasts operating brushless RC off-road trucks and large-scale buggies, quality tyres are fundamental to unlocking the full potential of your machine.
Each pair includes two complete tyre and insert assemblies, ready to be fitted to front and rear positions on your 1/5 scale truck. The medium compound foam inserts are carefully calibrated to work with the tyre's structural characteristics, ensuring predictable handling and consistent performance across the widest possible range of off-road surfaces. If you're searching for reliable, performance-focused tyres for your large-scale RC truck, the ARRMA dBoots Backflip represents an excellent choice that will transform your driving experience.
Key Features
- Aggressive Tread Pattern — The distinctive, deep tread design cuts through loose surfaces and grips firmly on hardpack terrain, providing excellent traction on all off-road surfaces that UK RC drivers encounter, from garden soil to woodland tracks and gravel courses.
- Durable Material Compound — Engineered using a tough, long-lasting material formulation that resists tearing, punctures and rapid wear, ensuring your investment in these tyres continues to deliver performance over extended bashing sessions and competitive driving.
- Medium Compound Foam Inserts — Each tyre comes paired with a carefully calibrated medium compound foam insert that optimises suspension geometry, improves shock absorption, and delivers predictable handling characteristics across varying terrain types and driving speeds.
- 1/5 Scale Specification — Purpose-built for large-scale RC trucks, these tyres feature sizing that matches the engineering specifications of 1/5 scale platforms, ensuring perfect fitment and performance synchronisation with your vehicle's suspension and drivetrain.
- Front & Rear Compatibility — Designed as a universal solution for both front and rear axle positions, simplifying your spares strategy and allowing flexible tyre rotation protocols to extend overall set lifespan.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA dBoots Backflip Tires deliver performance engineered for the demanding requirements of large-scale brushless RC trucks. With a substantial 8-inch (203mm) outer diameter and 3.7-inch (94mm) width, these tyres provide the contact patch and sidewall strength necessary to support the weight and power delivery of modern 1/5 scale brushless RC vehicles like the ARRMA Outcast 4X4 8S BLX EXB. The 4.8-inch (122mm) bead diameter ensures secure fitment to compatible wheel systems without slippage or debeading during aggressive cornering or high-speed running. The medium compound foam insert specification strikes a balance between responsiveness and durability, absorbing impacts from rough terrain whilst maintaining the tyre's structural integrity through extended use. The tread pattern's aggressive design has been validated across multiple terrain conditions encountered by UK RC enthusiasts, from wet grass and muddy tracks to dry hardpack and gravel surfaces. This is a genuine performance component rather than a budget alternative, with the engineering focus on delivering consistent handling characteristics that allow drivers to exploit the full potential of their brushless RC trucks without concern about tyre degradation or unpredictable behaviour compromising control during high-speed manoeuvres or precision driving sections.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are ARRMA dBoots Backflip tyres compatible with my RC truck? — These tyres are specifically designed for 1/5 scale ARRMA vehicles including the Outcast 4X4 8S BLX EXB brushless stunt truck. Compatibility extends to other 1/5 scale platforms with matching wheel specifications, but we recommend checking your vehicle's documentation or contacting our team at RC Model Shop to confirm fitment before ordering.
- What surface conditions are these tyres best suited to? — The aggressive tread pattern and durable material compound make these tyres versatile performers across all off-road surfaces. They deliver excellent grip on loose terrain like soil and sand, maintain strong traction on hardpack and gravel, and perform reliably on mixed ground. This versatility makes them an ideal choice for UK RC drivers who bash across varied landscapes rather than specialising in a single surface type.
- How long do the foam inserts last? — The medium compound foam inserts are engineered for durability and long-lasting performance. Lifespan varies depending on driving intensity, terrain type, and maintenance practices, but quality foam inserts typically outlast the tyre tread itself. When you eventually replace the tyres, you may be able to reuse the inserts on new tyre shells if they remain structurally sound, providing additional value.
- Do I need to glue these tyres to the wheels? — This depends on your wheel type. Most modern 1/5 scale wheels feature beadlock rings that mechanically retain the tyre, eliminating the need for tyre glue. However, if your wheels lack beadlock features, you may need to use RC tyre glue for secure fitment. We recommend checking your wheel specifications or contacting our experienced team for guidance on your specific setup.
- Can I use these tyres on road surfaces? — These are engineered exclusively for off-road use. The aggressive tread pattern and soft compound are optimised for grip on unprepared terrain. Using them on tarmac or concrete will result in accelerated wear, reduced traction due to insufficient edge contact, and poor handling characteristics. Stick to off-road environments to maximise tyre lifespan and performance.
- What is the difference between medium and soft compound inserts? — Medium compound inserts, like those supplied with the Backflip tyres, offer a balanced approach between responsiveness and durability. Soft compounds provide slightly more grip and compliance but wear more quickly, whilst hard compounds last longer but can feel less responsive. For general UK bashing across mixed terrain, medium compound represents an excellent all-rounder that won't compromise performance or require frequent replacement.
